From the Bottom of My Broken Heart music video premieres in 1999

This event begins 12/17/2020 and repeats every year forever

From the Bottom of My Broken Heart music video premiered on December 17, 1999.

The video was filmed in November and was directed by Gregory Dark, who was known as "the Steven Spielberg of the soft-core set" and "the Martin Scorsese of the erotic thriller" since he started his career as an adult filmmaker. According to him, Jive Records hired him with the intention of re-image Spears from the "naughty schoolgirl persona" from ...Baby One More Time video, and stated they wanted a much more story-oriented video without dance, and that was serious and emotional.

The music video portrays Britney packing up her belongings as she readies herself to move away from home, and feeling upset because she knows she's going to miss her first love. Scenes of the couple's past are shown throughout the video. Before the end of the video, she's seen waiting at a bus stop while at the same time, her love interest is driving to come see her one last time, only to miss her as she had already left by the time he arrives.
