Today in 2009, "3" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Britney's 3rd #1. It entered at #14 on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 the prior week. It made Britney the first artist in over three years to debut at the top position and the only non-American Idol artist in eleven years to do so. It was the fifteenth song in the chart history to debut at the top position and also the shortest title for a song reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
