The Dixie Chicks changed their name to The Chicks as a response to the racist connotations associated with the word "Dixie."

There's a New Zealand band called The Chicks, but it's all good. “We are honored to co-exist together in the world with these exceptionally talented sisters,” The Chicks (DC) said.
The Chicks' new album Gaslighter, their first in 14 years, drops July 17.
