  1. On June 12, 2015, Giorgio Moroder released his fourteenth studio album Déjà Vu. It featured collaborations with Sia (Déjà Vu), Kylie Minogue (Right Here, Right Now), but most importantly, Britney Spears (Tom's Diner). Britney's song had already leaked around the time Pretty Girls came out (early 2015), but it was June 12 when it was officially released on Giorgio's fourteenth studio album Déjà Vu. The original song came out in 1987 by Suzanne Vega, and it was later covered in 1990 by DNA. An audio clip for the song was uploaded on Britney's official YouTube channel. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Moroder teased the “Tom’s Diner” cover, noting that it was Spears’ idea: “Britney came to my management company with the idea to do a particular song with me, which was interesting because usually it’s the other way, with the producer offering a song”. “I hope she finds the time to do the little bridge—it’s just eight bars,” he told Official Charts, before the song was completed. “I’m going to meet her soon and tell her!” (we know how that ended ) About the cover, Suzanne Vega said: “I have to say, I was surprised. It came right on the heels of Fall Out Boy [who sampled the song on “Centuries”]. I thought, ‘That’s great that Britney Spears wants to do this.’ I was impressed because it was her idea and … it’s showing maturity in her career choices.” The reason why I forgot about its anniversary, it's because the single wouldn't properly come out until October, which was accompanied by two remixes of the song. Sadly, it never received the video treatment besides a lyric video. On July 2019, Britney Spears acknowledged the song on an Instagram post: To which Giorgio Moroder replied by sharing a new version of the song #Justice4TomsDiner
  2. The Golden Raspberry Awards, better known as the Razzies, have bestowed their annual dubious honors on the worst achievements in film for 2020. The ceremony took place one day ahead of Oscar night, as is tradition. Sia's controversial directorial debut Music, which was heavily criticized for its depiction of autism, took home three awards, including Worst Director, Worst Actress for Kate Hudson, and Worst Supporting Actress for Maddie Ziegler. I feel bad for Maddie, but Sia definitely deserves it
  3. I'm looking for PROOF of this conspiracy theory that Myah Marie sang most/all of the vocals on Britney Jean. As in, actual factual evidence that this is supposedly the secret truth. Saying "I'm a fan, I know her voice" is not proof, it's opinion. Saying "Britney doesn't sound like that" or "The lyrics obviously aren't her style" is also not proof, it's more opinion. Please do not waste your time spamming this topic with your feelings and emotions and hunches. I want receipts, kiddos My opinion: I do NOT think that Myah Marie had as big a part in these vocals as most people say. When I hear Myah Marie's own songs and the demos that she makes for Britney, it's clear to me that their voices are similar but not identical. I'm not sure why everybody is so quick to completely forget power of electronic engineering of voices and pitch adjustment and all sorts of really nifty technology (e.g. Auto-Tune) used all over the music industry to intentionally modify the original vocals. Britney Jean was obviously heavily edited vocally and in its overall production. I don't find this as a reason to entertain this ridiculous theory that Myah Marie is the main vocalist here. But if your claims can be fact-checked, then let's hear them.
  4. Sia is under fire for her new film, Music, which at times reportedly portrays autistic people in an inaccurate light. There's a petition on Change.org with 100,000+ signatures requesting the Golden Globes rescind her nomination. The petition reads: The petition goes into great detail about why they believe this film shouldn't exist. I don't think the nomination should be rescinded. She just probably won't win. The Internet is a wild place. What do YOU think, Exhale? Related:
  5. Maddie Ziegler reportedly broke down in tears on the first day of rehearsals for Sia's new film, Music. Music is under fire for inaccurately portraying autistic people. For starters, Maddie is the star of the film, who plays an autistic person, despite not being autistic in real life. People wondered why Sia didn't hire an actual autistic person. Maddie was so uncomfortable at first that she cried, but Sia low-key pressured Maddie to stay signed on. I think Sia had good intentions, but this whole thing is just a mess and weird. Exhale, please weigh in. Tweets via ATRL Related:
  6. Sia clapped back at an autistic actor who was willing to act in Sia's new film, but was ultimately not included. Sia has a new film and album on the way, both titled Music. It stars Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr. and Maddie Ziegler. Here's a short synopsis via Variety: Variety promoted Sia's new song from the film, "Hey Boy," and it lead to a really awkward series of events... I- I literally gasped when I read her reply. How do we feel about this, Exhale?
  7. Ozuna put a music video for his Sia and Doja Cat collab, "Del Mar."
  8. Sia's new album arrives in 2021. She's been lying low because of this, as well as the chronic pain she's experiencing. Here's a copy + paste quote from her new interview with Vogue: It's worth reminding you that she's actually (quietly?) been releasing music this year. A refresher below. Exhale, are you excited for Sia's new album? 1000 Forms of Fear is sooo good still.
  9. David Guetta and Sia teamed up again for a sparkly, synthy, '80s-tinged new tune "Let's Love." You may recall the two made music magic together with 2011's "Titanium." Thoughts on their new song, Exhale?
  10. Sia's next single is coming in two weeks, she'll sing in spanish and it features Doja Cat and Ozuna. I don't know how to feel about this... What do you think?
  11. Katy Perry revealed she turned down the opportunity to sing on "Titanium" because the original, which featured Sia, was perfect as is. In a live stream chat with some electronic music producers, including David Guetta, who produced Titanium, Katy reflected on what could have been: "Do you remember when, like almost 10 years ago, you sent me 'Titanium'?" she asked, "Oh my god! Did you turn down the record?," Guetta replied. "So you sent me the song, right?" Perry continued. "And this is when you had Sia, obviously from Zero 7, you know, who had already had the coolest success -- she had demo'd that record. And you'd sent it to me and I remember specifically listening to it on the plane, I was like, 'Oh my god, this song is so good. Who is the person on the record? They should stay on the freakin' record. This is a hit record; don't put me on the record! Keep Sia on this record!' 'Cause I was already such a huge fan of Zero 7, and so I wrote you back an email...and I just said, 'You're crazy. I don't need to be on this record. Keep Sia on the record.' And there is 'Titanium.'" Can you imagine "Titanium" with Katy's voice on it instead of Sia's?
  12. Sia caught flack for her mini performance of "Chandelier" on TikTok. It appears to be a super difficult song to tackle, even if it's her own creation. Her vibrato sounds awesome in parts, other times it's nails to a chalkboard. I love that music can evoke so much emotion Related:
  13. Exhale's impact 16-year-old singer (omg BreatheHeavy is 16 smh) Kenzie tapped Sia for a new banger titled "Exhale." They did us justice; the song is a bop. "You need to, you need to exhale / So let everything go / Baby, you in control," she sings over an infectious beat. There's a video for it, too. The intro explaining that it was shot on her iPhone kills me. Like why include that. Regardless, the song is fun. A song titled "BreatheHeavy" already exists (yup, inspired from this site) and now one titled "Exhale" does. When will your faves? Thoughts on "Exhale," Exhale?
  14. Sia is releasing her new lead single, a new song titled "Together," on May 20th. She hasn't officially announced the title yet, but fans already found the breadcrumbs through her website. She wrote the song a few years ago, according to a report from Rolling Stone. “Together” is a cheerful song that matches her personality much more than, say, “Chandelier.” The bridge goes, “I want love, I want to give it/I want love, please deliver it.” I typically love anything Sia puts out - she's mega talented - so I'm perched for this. We got any Sia stans up in Exhale?
  15. What is this dumpster fire mess. Sia is featured on a song written by Tonya Brewer and Made Ziegler tilted "Joe Exotic." It's inspired by Megan Thee Stallion's song "Savage." Can't tell if I love it or loathe it. I just feel like she's three weeks too late with this. Btw Sia is a huge animal rights activist. Thoughts? Beat kinda goes in. Chaotic.
