Will Smith shared a video in which he again apologized to Chris Rock for slapping the comedian at the 2022 Oscars. “This is probably irreparable.” Smith clarified that his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, did not tell him to “do something” after she rolled her eyes upon hearing the alopecia joke that sparked the confrontation. He also said that letting people down, including his wife, has always been his worst nightmare. “Disappointing people is my central trauma. I hate when I let people down, so it hurts psychologically and emotionally to know that I didn’t live up to people’s image and impression of me,” he explained. “The work I’m trying to do is I am deeply remorseful, and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself.”

Diane Warren finally gets her due at the Oscars. Per EW: After 13 Academy Award nominations, collaborations with Cher, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga, and a career filled with countless tunes crafted for movies big and small, songwriter Diane Warren will finally receive her long-awaited Oscar later this year at Governors Awards. The Academy announced Tuesday the 65-year-old is among four of this year's Honorary Award recipients alongside Witness and Master and Commander helmer Peter Weir, Marlon Brando's A Dry White Season filmmaker Euzhan Palcy (the first Black woman to direct a film for a major Hollywood studio), and Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award honoree Michael J. Fox. "The Academy's Board of Governors is honored to recognize four individuals who have made indelible contributions to cinema and the world at large," said Academy President David Rubin in a press statement. "Michael J. Fox's tireless advocacy of research on Parkinson's disease alongside his boundless optimism exemplifies the impact of one person in changing the future for millions. Euzhan Palcy is a pioneering filmmaker whose groundbreaking significance in international cinema is cemented in film history. Diane Warren's music and lyrics have magnified the emotional impact of countless motion pictures and inspired generations of musical artists. Peter Weir is a director of consummate skill and artistry whose work reminds us of the power of film to reveal the full range of human experience." Warren's status as a perennial competitive nominee for iconic songs like Trisha Yearwood's "How Do I Live" from Con Air and Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from Armageddon — has become a talking point among the industry for years. "I mean, go ahead, give Diane Warren an honorary Oscar, please put her out of her misery. She's usually nominated for a song in a movie that nobody has seen. People love her enough to nominate her, I don't understand why we can't just give her the award one year and get it over with," one anonymous producer told EW earlier this year as part of our annual Oscars secret ballot, while a director added: "Give the Oscar to Diane Warren for God's sake. I've never even heard of Four Good Days, but give her the damn Oscar. She keeps getting nominated. She's like the Susan Lucci of the Oscars. I mean, Jesus Christ. If she doesn't get it this year, she gets an Honorary Oscar." The Academy's Governors Awards will be handed out on Saturday, Nov. 13 in Los Angeles and, if tradition continues, portions of the ceremony will be edited into the 2023 Oscars ceremony when it airs on Sunday, March 12.

I'm not defending anyone here, I'm just shedding light on this other aspect of the whole situation, in case it wasn't mentioned before. Also, you can tell that it's an important topic for him. It was important for his daughter, and so it became important for him. So he's been analysing it since then... I like that. I like people who take something seriously enough to spend time to learn about it. But like with all learning processes, that doesn't mean that we won't make mistakes along the way... To me, it's the good intention what counts.

It's funny how they wanted higher ratings yet they snubbed Gaga who would have given them a big chunk of their ratings.

Variety follows the Oscar race very closely. They have created a list of 40 contenders that could score a nomination for Best Actress at the 2022 Academy Awards. And in their early predictions for Best Actress at the Oscars, they have placed Lady Gaga at 1st place for Ridley Scott's "House of Gucci". Gaga has previously scored a Best Actress nomination for her performance in "A Star Is Born" and won one for Best Original Song. Another Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is also named a Top-Tier contender for her performance as Aretha Franklin in upcoming movie "Respect". Early word is that she has delivered an amazing performance. The most noteworthy of the list is Camila Cabello at 40th place for "Cinderella", backed by Amazon Studios. This is her film debut, and if she manages an Oscar nomination with it, it will solidify her future acting career. In the movie Camila gets to work with Tony and Emmy winner Billy Porter, and Golden Globe nominee James Corden. It will be a big year for our female artists. Sir Anthony Hopkins wins the Best actor oscar for his astounding work as an old man suffering from dementia. I love and miss Chadwick Boseman but this Hopkin truly deserved this win 100.0% What a class act. He didnt attend the ceremony but posted the most elegant acceptance speech on his instagram.
