This is a K-Pop release I've been waiting for forever. I've been a fan of (G)I-DLE since their debut back in May of 2018. I can't believe it's almost been 2 years. Time really does fly. What I love about (G)I-DLE is that their music is quite unconvential. It's not traditional pop, it's not traditional K-Pop - it's a little different. It's not exactly GP friendly, yet they've had so much success already. And today I read the best news I've read in a while: They literally beat TWICE and BLACKPINK (the two biggest girl groups in the world right now) in 1st day album sales, which is insane. I'm sure they won't surpass either of the two groups in overall sales (neither physical nor digital), but this is still a HUGE achievement because for the longest time (G)I-DLE were stuck somewhere between mid-tier and top-tier among K-Pop girl groups. This might give them the push to enter top-tier status (especially in Korea because they've already been hugely popular among international fans anyway). I'm so freakin' proud of them. Also, the leader of the group wrote all of the songs on the mini album by herself. This might be a first for K-Pop girl groups. This is definitely their most unconventional title track yet. I can already tell it's going to be super polarizing because it's not exactly 'catchy'. Personally, this might be my favorite (G)I-DLE song EVER. I absolutely ADORE the latin flare and the melodies of the verses, but then the song drops into this satisfying, trap infused body roll of a chorus. It's so ****. Also, am I the only one getting low-key gay vibes? Like... If I had to describe the concept in two words, I'd say 'lesbian goddesses'. Literally, read the lyrics: "Oh my god, she took me to the sky. Oh my god, she showed me all the stars." If that doesn't scream 'lesbian goddesses', I don't know what does. Anyway, stream song of the year, y'all. Every other K-Pop group may as well disband at this point. (G)I-DLE world domination.
