  2. YG Entertainment issued an official statement to South Korean publication OSEN on July 22, where it announced the launch of ‘BLACKPINK X PUBG Mobile 2022 In-Game Concert: [THE VIRTUAL]’ as part of the girl group’s partnership with the mobile game, to be launched sequentially across the globe. In conjunction with the launch of BLACKPINK’s virtual PUBG concert, the K-pop quartet are slated to unveil a brand-new special single titled ‘Ready For Love’ to be performed by BLACKPINK’s in-game avatars during the concert. The group’s “mega hit parade” will also be unveiled for the first time at ‘THE VIRTUAL’. “The charming pop song has a cool drop in the chorus that breaks the static flow of its lyrical, piano instrumental,” wrote YG Entertainment in its statement, as a teaser for the new track. The concert’s first iteration will be its South Korean one, to be held across two days – July 23 and 24 from 2pm to 4pm KST and 8pm to 10pm KST respectively. They will then be made available for all-day replays the following weekend on July 30 and 31. While not an official music release, ‘Ready For Love’ will mark the K-pop group’s first music together since their last full-length effort ‘THE ALBUM’ dropped in October 2020, which featured the lead single ‘How You Like That’. However, news of the special track’s release comes shortly after YG Entertainment announced BLACKPINK’s plans to release new music in August. A sprawling global tour, touted by YG as “the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group”, is also on the cards for later in 2022. At the time of announcement, the K-pop quartet were in the “final stages of recording a new album”, which would kickstart “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year”. 9. Hey everyone I have a few questions, and a few ideas to share. I’m an independent artist, singer/songwriter, composer and producer. I’ve been working on music steadily since 2012, and I’ve been working under the name Thomkat for about 3 years now, though I’ve never toured with my music or released anything officially, beyond a few uploads on SoundCloud. That being said, in this day and age being an independent artist is exciting, and we have opportunities and resources now that were never available to us in the past. My journey with music has been incredible and I’m finally coming to a place where I’m ready to share what I’ve created with the world, so right now I’m working with a third-party publisher and distributer and I’ll be releasing a full-length project onto all streaming platforms sometime in the first quarter of 2021. Something I’ve also thought about recently, is treating Exhale as a platform for sharing music and videos, and also experimenting a bit with different aspects of fan interaction and content creation. For example, something that I think could be really cool is collaborating with users/fans, and creating music in real-time, together. You give me an idea, you come up with a theme, you tell me what you want to hear, and I make it happen, and it’s just for us, BY us. Perhaps even offering to produce commissioned work, in the same way a person can commission a painting or a portrait, I’m imagining an interactive music experience where the artist and the fan are creating music together. Of course artists are inspired by their fans all the time, but this takes it a step further. Now I realize that none of you have heard my music, and I don’t necessarily have “fans” on Exhale, but what I’d like to do moving forward, is to share exclusive content here on Exhale, let you guys into my world, and see what happens. I think it could be a ton of fun to open that door for artists here on Exhale, have our own cute little album-rollouts and promo, countdowns and video premieres, and lots of amazing exclusive content and music that we can all enjoy together. Let me know what you guys think and if this interests any of you! 💜
  10. Originally scheduled to be released back in May, this Friday (July 31st) marks the release of Alanis Morissette's ninth studio album, "Such Pretty Forks in the Road,” through Epiphany Music and Thirty Tigers in North America, and by RCA and Sony Music in the United Kingdom and Europe. It's been eight years since her last studio effort, in which time Alanis has been raising a family, hosting her own podcast series “Conversation with Alanis Morissette," adapting her 5x Grammy-winning breakthrough album, "Jagged Little Pill" into a broadway musical and, for the last three years, juggling all of that with writing and recording this album. Never afraid to tackle delicate or unsettling subject matter in her music, "Such Pretty Forks in the Road" is both raw and haunting at times. The album is a brutally honest exploration of addiction, anxiety, betrayal, insomnia, motherhood and postpartum depression all weaved together like pieces of a home-stitched tapestry. Alanis worked with just two producers on this album, Alex Hope and Catherine Marks, which has resulted in a very coherent collection of 11 songs that truly feel introspective and intimate. Stand-out tracks like “Smiling,” "Diagnosis," and "Reckoning" see Alanis lament with a profound openness and unapologetic frankness, while showcasing the capabilities of her ever-recognisable voice, now with a mature and worldly-wise edge. You can order a physical copy of the album on CD, Vinyl or Special Collector's Box from Amazon and it’s available to buy digitally or listen to on streaming services from midnight tonight, your time, wherever you are in the world. Stream below + please comment as you listen, folks! PS: Since this is the first time I’ve done an “album review” here, let me know what you think and if you’d like to see me contribute more content like this on Exhale, thanks.
