  1. Rosengart sent a letter to Weingarten on March 2 and brought up the allegations against Weingarten by women who said he had bullied/***ually harassed them.
  2. The lawsuit against Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” has officially been dropped after 5 years. She is now in the clear to legally release 1989 (Taylor’s Version)!
  3. “In writing the lyrics, I drew partly on experiences in my life and, in particular, unrelenting public scrutiny of my personal life, “clickbait” reporting, public manipulation, and other forms of negative personal criticism which I learned I just needed to shake off and focus on my music. I recall hearing phrases about players play and haters hate stated together by other children while attending school in Wyomissing Hills, and in high school in Hendersonville. These phrases were akin to other commonly used sayings like “don’t hate the playa, hate the game,” “take a chill pill,” and “say it, don’t spray it.” Taylor Swift Responds To "Shake It Off" Copyright Lawsuit, Says The Lyrics "Were Written Entirely By Me" WWW.STEREOGUM.COM Taylor Swift has responded at length to a 2017 copyright lawsuit claiming she stole the lyrics to her 2014 hit single “Shake...
  4. I've been reading through the other, less salacious lawsuits associated with Britney. In 2004, a t shirt company called "Lite Breeze" sued Britney, Zomba, Clear Channel, and the online merchandising store over the use of the phrase "In the Zone". This article gives an overview: PRESS RELEASE: Britney Spears Sued in $10 Million Trademark Infringement Action in Connection with Her In The Zone CD and Related Concert Activities WEB.ARCHIVE.ORG PRESS RELEASE Britney Spears Sued in $10 Million Trademark Infringement Action in Connection With Her In The Zone CD And Related Concert Activities San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 10, 2004 -- Lite Breeze... "The lawsuit was filed in February, 2004; however Ms. Spears did not accept service of the legal papers until May, 2004. Although Lite Breeze has been in communication with Ms. Spears' attorney since February, Ms. Spears refused to give her attorney the authority to accept service of the legal papers. Ms. Spears avoided numerous attempts to serve her the legal papers over the past several months. Finally, Ms. Spears agreed to accept service of the papers if Lite Breeze agreed to postpone the taking of her deposition for six months. Ms. Spears and the other defendants must file their answers to the allegations by June 14, 2004." That seems a little unfair, since she was on a worldwide tour during that time, but I digress. The owner of Lite Breeze quotes a December 2003 Rolling Stone article critiquing the Onyx Hotel tour. In The Zone WWW.ROLLINGSTONE.COM Check out our album review of Artist's In The Zone on Rolling Stone.com. "We have spent over 12 years building name recognition and brand loyalty with [our] trademark,” said Rodd Garner, President of Lite Breeze at the time. “In The Zone is as wholesome and All-American as hotdogs and apple pie. We are associated with sporting and musical events throughout the country.” --> 8th graders in San Diego disagree Ms. Spears has taken Lite Breeze's brand and equated it with what Rolling Stone Magazine has stated 'offers strip-club, 1-900 s**, accommodating and hollow.'" That sounds like a sales pitch to me! In one of the documents, there is a list of statements/arguments that Zomba requested to have removed from the lawsuit. One of these included a charming summary from a 14 year old boy named Aston Clarke about the words "in the zone". Ultimately, Lite Breeze lost the case. 6. Mariah is being sued for at least $20 million in damages by Andy Stone, who says he co-wrote and recorded a song called "All I Want For Christmas Is You" a couple years before Mariah dropped her track with that same title. According to the lawsuit, Andy claims he recorded his back in 1989 in Nashville, and says it got extensive airplay and even made it to the Billboard charts during the 1993 Christmas season, and he even filmed a music video. Andy claims Mariah and her camp never sought or obtained permission to use that title.
  7. Ed Sheeran just won the copyright case over the 2017 hit ‘Shape of You’, so he released this video statement: I think this was appropriate and well done. You can tell that he really loves music and is hardworking and creative. We'll always have ill intentioned people, but I don't think he's one of them, and the amount of lawsuits of this kind over the last few years have been insane, in most cases they do look like a money grab. HERE you can read more about it. What do you guys think?
  8. Spencer Elden is suing the band for child ***ual exploitation, saying he was unable to consent to having his image used for the iconic 1991 album Nirvana’s surviving members and the estate of Kurt Cobain have been sued by Spencer Elden, who appeared as a baby on the cover of 1991’s Nevermind. Elden claims the band violated federal child ****ography statutes and argues child ***ual exploitation, TMZ reports and documents viewed by Pitchfork confirm. Pitchfork has reached out to Nirvana’s representatives for comment. In a lawsuit that also named photographer Kirk Weddle and the labels behind the album’s release, Elden claims he has suffered “lifelong damages” and says his legal guardians never signed a release “authorizing the use of any images of Spencer or of his likeness, and certainly not of commercial child ****ography depicting him.” He’s also suing for distribution of private ***ually explicit materials, negligence, and what’s described as a “s** trafficking venture” where Elden “was forced to engage in commercial ***ual acts while under the age of 18 years old.” Elden is seeking damages, attorney fees, an injunction to prohibit all parties “from continuing to engage in the unlawful acts and practices described herein,” and a trial by jury. “The permanent harm he has proximately suffered includes but is not limited to extreme and permanent emotional distress with physical manifestations, interference with his normal development and educational progress, lifelong loss of income earning capacity, loss of past and future wages, past and future expenses for medical and psychological treatment, loss of enjoyment of life, and other losses to be described and proven at trial of this matter,” the lawsuit states. Weddle was a friend of Elden’s father Rick, which is how young Spencer ended up on the album cover. “[Weddle] calls us up and was like, ‘Hey Rick, wanna make 200 bucks and throw your kid in the drink,’” Rick told NPR in 2008. “I was like, ‘What's up?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’m shooting kids all this week, why don’t you meet me at the Rose Bowl, throw your kid in the drink?’ And we just had a big party at the pool, and no one had any idea what was going on!” Spencer was reportedly sent a platinum copy of Nevermind and a teddy bear by Geffen Records in 1991. Elden recreated the image multiple times over the years and had the word “Nevermind” tattooed on his chest, but in a 2016 interview with GQ Australia, Elden revealed that he had recently become unhappy about the Nevermind artwork. “It’s ****ed up,” he said. “I’m pissed off about it, to be honest.” "For the album's 10th, 17th and 25th anniversaries, Elden recreated the front cover shot for photographers. He wanted to do the 25th anniversary shoot nude but the photographer preferred that he wore swim shorts." https://pitchfork.com/news/nirvana-sued-by-baby-from-nevermind-album-artwork-for-child-****ography/ https://nypost.com/2016/09/23/nirvana-baby-recreates-iconic-album-cover-25-years-later/ Recreations: "In the past you’ve said it was cool. When did that change? Just a few months ago, when
I was reaching out to Nirvana to see if they wanted to be part of my art show. I was getting referred to their managers and their lawyers. Why am I still on their cover if
I’m not that big of a deal? Why’d you reach out to them? I was trying to do an art show with the photographer who took the picture. I was asking if they wanted to put a piece of art in the ****ing thing. " So he is suing them for not coming for his show.... The irony of a person chasing a bill as a baby and 30 yrs after- still chasing that bill I guess
