  5. According to deadline, The Idol is experiencing creative differences as director Amy Seimetz exits the role. Yesterday, the network said that the team behind the drama series, which stars the Blinding Lights singer, otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp, was moving in a “new creative direction” and would be “adjusting its cast and crew accordingly to best serve this new approach to the series”. Euphoria creator Levinson is now expected to have more of a role in directing the series. Levinson has directed multiple episodes of the teen HBO series as well as feature film Malcolm & Marie. Tesfaye is co-writing and exec producing the series, which he co-created with Levinson and Reza Fahim. https://deadline.com/2022/04/the-idol-director-amy-seimetz-exits-hbo-1235009540/
  6. According to insiders, A new song by Lana Del Rey is rumoured to be featured in a scene of the 3rd episode of the 2nd season of HBO's Euphoria and may have something to do with the character of Maddy Perez who some fans say has been inspired by the themes of her music. If not true, HBO should consider using the music, it fits the tone of the show, it's dark, graphic, snarky and spicy. Comment below what LDR song you would pitch for the show?
  7. Per TVLine: "HBO is working for The Weeknd. Actually, make that the other way around. The network has given a formal series order to The Idol, a subversive drama about the music industry, co-created by and starring Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, TVLine has learned. Also co-created by Reza Fahim and Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson, the series “centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol,” per the official logline. As previously announced, The Weeknd will star alongside Lily-Rose Depp. Additional series regulars include Suzanna Son, Steve Zissis and Troye Sivan, according to our sister site Deadline, while Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga and Anne Heche will recur. The Idol‘s executive-producing team includes The Weeknd, Levinson, Fahim, Joe Epstein, Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson, Nick Hall, Sarah E. White, and Aaron Gilbert for BRON. Amy Seimetz will also executive-produce, as well as direct all six episodes, which will be filmed in and around Los Angeles. “When the multi-talented Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson brought us The Idol, it was clear their subversive, revelatory take on the cult of the music industry was unlike anything HBO had ever done before,” Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, said in a statement. “Shortly after, the brilliant duo of Joe Epstein and Amy Seimetz joined forces with the rest of the team, and this dream became a reality.” Note from me: After whining and dragging the Grammys he will try going for an Emmy?

  9. The full length New York show was leaked in full. This was for a full HBO concert special titled: Spice Girls: Girl Power Live from Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, a deal fell thru involving money. Simon Fuller knowing that this would be the only tour with all five girls, offered it to HBO for $25 million. They counteracted with $8 million. Sadly, the deal fell thru as Simon felt this was the biggest girl group tour and reunion - especially considering that The Spice Girls remains iconic to this day. They're the only British girl group to conquer America and to still maintain an interest in the American touring industry. Enjoy what could have been a ratings smasher.
