  1. Update: Predictions for Kanye's first-week sales are in. He's going to blast to #1 with at least 300k. Via HDD: Kanye West (G.O.O.D./Def Jam): 300k-300k+ Halsey (Capitol): 95-115k total activity, 70-85k albums Lil Tecca (Galactic/Republic): 30-35k, 1-2k Earlier: Look what he made her do. In what appears to be an attempt to thwart him from going #1, Taylor Swift promoted Halsey's new album hours after Kanye West surprise released his. LIVING for this level of petty.
  2. If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, "A disruptive film and album experience from the mind of Halsey", comes out this week. Who's going? I'm actually really excited for this project. Motherhood ushers in a new era for both established and upcoming artists, and I think this will be a defining moment for her. Ray of Light by Madonna, Blackout by Britney, and Beyoncé by Beyonce were significant timestamps of growth and transformation for each of these artists ... need I say more? I can't recall an artist ever releasing a film nationwide (first) to support an album -- with no single (!) -- that hasn't come out yet. I've got high hopes and am going.
  3. Halsey shared the news on her instagram, Congratulations!
  4. Halsey reissued Manic. It's the only studio album released this year to go platinum by the RIAA. It includes new remixes and songs, including the Target exclusive bonus track, "I'm not Mad," and several acoustic versions. Stream the new version of Manic:
  5. Halsey is returning to Badlands. Her debut studio album turns five-years-old on August 28th. To celebrate, Halsey is teasing something special... what exactly she has in store is under wraps. Fans think it might be a new/never-before-heard single. She's been sending fans Badlands postcards, launched a new website and using lyrics on her Instagram captions. Exhale, do we have any Badlands fans here?
  6. Halsey faced a wave of criticism for comparing the US to a third world country. In the now-deleted Tweet, Halsey said: “The USA is a Third World Country: a thread.” She laid out stats and her beliefs, but Twitter was not having it. She ultimately removed her thread and apologized. The thread: Thoughts? Is the US a third world country?
  7. I'm not a huge fan of chart and streaming data, but I AM a huge proponent of girl power. This is why everyone is like, WhErE's R9 Kinda surprised about Halsey. Anyone missing?
  8. Halsey went on the record to say she endorses Bernie Sanders for president. "I am officially endorsing Bernie Sanders for president," Halsey says. "Bernie has been fighting for me since before I was alive... a queer woman in a multi-racial family who was raised poor in an American suburb. A woman who got into the college of her dreams and couldn't afford to go. A person physically tormented by a reproductive health disorder that I couldn't afford to treat." Thoughts? Are you with Halsey?
  9. Touring is notoriously exhausting. It's burnt out some of our biggest pop stars because the intense travel demands, the energy it takes to put on a show, the struggle to calm down after the show's done, the events and gigs in-between performances, the meet & greets, the pressure to maintain relevancy with new music, social media etc. It's... a lot. I don't envy them. Halsey says after 2020 she's taking a long break from touring. She didn't specify why, but I imagine any (or all) of the reasons above could be it. I value having stability and routine in my life. Traveling and working non-stop would make me lose my ****, so I can only imagine the hard time artists like Halsey have. Especially cause her caliber of stardom isn't like Beyonce, where the label does what you ask for the most part. She's still on the up and up so there's a real likelihood she's being overworked. What do you think? Should she just "suck it up" or does she have a valid reason to take a break after touring concludes?
