  1. Due to the situation in Ukraine, seeing in no end, Despite winning Eurovision, it's been declared it's unsafe to host as the winner of the contest, it's normal to host the contest, but that's not unfortunately not gonna happen with it in war with Russia, which has basically been exiled from the entire world.. But per rules the runner up country can host the contest, so the united kingdom, is actually in the hosting opportunity now . @Slayer @Isla
  2. I can’t believe this thread hasn’t already been made yet, but here we are. Hence, I’m going to change this utterly sad moment in time, so welcome to... THE UNOFFICIAL EUROVISION 2022 THREAD Every year tons of absolute wacko’s - like myself - look forward to one of the most camp and ridiculous musical events on the international stage. EUROVISION!!! International you say? Why yes, because even though the name suggests only European countries can participate countries such as Israel and Australia partake too! The winning country of the previous year gets to organize the shindig. Since Italy won with Maneskin’s Ziti e Buoni in 2021 this year humankind’s favorite cringe fest is held in picturesque Turin. Eurovision is peak culture and that’s a hill I’m willing to die on. The iceberg is immens and the amount of iconic artists, performances, songs and moments are infinite. I’ll update this thread later with links to marvelous YouTube compilation videos. In the meantime, let me introduce you to a phenomenon called Epic Sax Guy: Last Tuesday was the first Semi-Final and my girl S10 did amazing and qualified for Saturday’s final. Tonight is the second Semi-Final and it’s expected to be a massacre since a lot of fan favorites are in this Semi-Final Saturday night is Finale Night and I can’t WAIT! Alright, guys, gals and non-binary pals, whilst I go back to work you guys go discuss why this is what we should show the aliens when they contact us, who your favorites are this year, your all-time favorite performances, etc. HAVE FUN AND STREAM FUEGO!
  3. and the beginning is on 20th november already - they announced the competion fraking 6 days shy from the competition beginning. Estonia originally had only two semis with 20 songs to begin with in public shows. Now we publicly have also 4 quarter finals, so Estonia makes choice in sense of televotingPLUSjury with 40 songs in the public beginning.
  4. Many Americans still don't know what Eurovision is so let me explain First of all, it's huge in Europe. Every country in Europe; Australia, few countries from Asia choose their representative artist and their song, performance every year. They just perform their song live and everyone sees it on TV, live-stream on YT etc. (you can easily find almost every contest on YT in high quality) and people vote for the best, there's also jury that gives points but people hate em cause they suck. Two days for semi-finals and one day for finale. It is aired in a lot of countries, even these homophobic as hell. It's good as the contest is really LGBT-friendly. It's a really big event in Europe, like UEFA EURO, it unites countries for a moment. This contest has existed since 1956 and it gave us a lot of hits, amazing songs and big artists like ABBA, Celine Dion. There's also a lot of cringy moments when songs countries perform suck but it's fun When a country wins - the next contest happens in their country. Throwback when drag queen Conchita Wurst won Eurovision 2014 with her powerful song ''Rise Like a Phoenix'' about acceptance etc. Imagine drag queen performing on TV in extremely homophobic countries and she wins thanks to people's votes & jury Big moment for LGBT community. But people were mad AS HELL. It was terrible. Everyone were talking about it in Europe no matter if comments were positive or negative. There's a lot of different LGBT artists with good songs like: - winner in 2019 (he has a fiance rn so he's taken, girls & boys tho his future husband is even hotter). This song went viral on TikTok, right? - 2nd place in 2019. Transgender NikkieTutorials was one of the hosts this year. Gay man as a host in 2019 with Madonna that performed that night: & other LGBT people I don't remember You as Americans probably see it as a not big deal but you have to remember that in Europe there's still a lot of extremely homophobic countries that would censor trans people, gay kiss etc. if it wasn't live. @Midnight @Jordan Miller feature it
  5. I love listening to the Eurovision entries when i find them! Over the past years what songs would you say are the "best" eurovision songs? These are some of my picks What are yours?
