British band Coldplay played at Rock In Rio on September 10 (Or it was 11, they took stage after midnight). It was the best concert so far at the festival. They went to play their song 'Magic' in Portuguese ('Magia') which led the crowd astonished. See below: See also some special moments from the concert too:

Hi guys, Coldplay is set to return to Brazil later this year with their first of many concerts taking place in Rock In Rio on Sept. 10 which is already sold out. Additionaly, they will play other dates the following month, again on Rio on October 11 and 12 and then Sao Paulo on dates Oct. 15, 16, 18 and now 19 the last day we think. Ticket sales begun on April 12 but the tickets were sold out in seconds. Initially, the band was supposed to play only one date in Rio (10/11) and then two concerts in Sao Paulo (10/15 and 16) but a few days later they announced an extra date for both cities. Again, the Sao Paulo tickets sold out in seconds, I was desperately trying to buy with no success. Then again, they announced a "4TH CONCERT" in SP which went for sale this morning prompting another sold out in seconds. I gave up since I couldn't but it and luckly there were a few tickets left for Rio on 10/12 and I bought it. I live in Sao Paulo state in the countryside but now I have to go to another state to see one of my favorite bands. Just early this month I went to see Maroon 5 in Sao Paulo, the first of many post pandemic international acts to play here, their last show was on March 2020 and last one before the covid hit. https://www.eventim.com.br/campaign/coldplay/

Coldplay just announced that their ninth studio album, Music of the Spheres, will drop October 15 and is executive produced by pop legend Max Martin, whom the band called "a true wonder of the universe". The artwork and imagery of this era is VERY Chromatica to me so maybe Maxy never left that universe... Thoughts? I really haven't listened to Coldplay after high school (during the Mylo Xyloto era with the Rihanna bop), but I've always appreciated their message and live performances. The first single, "Higher Power", is all right. But it leaves me feeling a little underwhelmed like Lorde's "Solar Power". Maybe record labels are struggling to find lead singles that will connect with everyone. Oftentimes, I feel as though they end up connecting with no one except the die-hards. This is why deep cuts are usually/always my favorite on a big pop album like this. At the end of the day, alternative songs with deeper meanings just cannot compete with s**, wap, and *** on the radio. But I'm excited for new Max Martin music in 2021.

Coldplay's new studio album "Music of the Spheres" will be released on October 15. To promote the album, the band releases a new single "My Universe" with BTS. To my surprise, it is actually amazing. Coldplay's last No. 1 single (Viva la Vida) in the US was back in 2008. This song could very well be their second No.1 13 years later.
