5SOS' new album Calm won't take the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. They'll lose out to The Weeknd's new record, After Hours, which was #1 last week as well. Dua Lipa's new album Future Nostalgia is no competition for the band in the US. They also blocked her in the UK. Weeknd clocks in with 134,905 units. 5SOS debuted with 132,349 (even with a touring bundle). 5SOS fans are MAD. They created a petition online demanding Billboard adjust the final sales tally. They claim 10k physical units were distributed prematurely, and Billboard is apparently not taking those into account. If they added the 10k, that would be enough to surpass The Weeknd and secure the top spot. Billboard is notorious for not budging. Resistance is futile. The band's creative director fired up fans on Twitter. Here's what the now-deleted Tweet said: How embarrassing Look, if Blackout was screwed out of #1, then 5SOS fans will just have to deal. Thoughts? Are you bummed 5SOS won't get the #1 on Billboard?

Dua Lipa had her fingers crossed she's grab the #1 spot in the UK, however 5SOS will take that title. Had everything gone according to her plan, she might've had more success on the charts in both the UK and the US. It's projected to open at #5 in the states. Maybe she'll have better luck with the deluxe version

Music not the bling. Lady Gaga's new single, "Stupid Love," debuted at #5 on the Hot 100, however it slipped to #26 in its second week. However, it's not all bad. It blasted to #1 on the Hot Dance / Electronic chart. I think stan culture puts a lot of emphasis on charting, and how that equates to relevancy. I don't see it that way. A lot of people didn't instantly connect with "Stupid Love." I personally loved it upon first listen. What do you guys think? Is the chart drop a reflection on the song itself? Are you worried for Chromatica? Or does chart placement even matter for someone as gargantuan as Lady Gaga?

Welp. Katy Perry's new song, "Never Worn White," a ballad that also doubled as her pregnancy announcement, missed the Hot 100. It debuted at #12 on the Bubbling Under chart (so, 112th). It's been a tough road for Katherine. Her most recent song chart placements: "Small Talk" peaked at #81 "Cozy Little Christmas" peaked at #53 "Harleys in Hawaii" peaked at #110 The downfall I- At the same time, it's not a proper lead single. Just something cute for the fans. But still... what are the Katy Kats doing instead of helping their fav? Ultimately I don't think a song's chart placement means it's good or bad. Especially in 2020. What do you guys think?
