  1. @SlayOut Claims exhale hasn’t peaked yet and what i would like to really know is what year exhale actually was at its height in the sense that you couldn’t go 2 minutes without a new thread about Britney? The website has around for years and considering the shift towards social media, Breatheheavy has continued to be a success, particularly for what started as a fan website. It’s very impressive how it’s adapted over the years too with the inclusion of the voice clip feature
  2. Since November 25, 2013, Britney Spears had had her eighth studio album Britney Jean out for free streaming through the iTunes store and iTunes radio. However, the official release would come on November 29 in Australia and some European countries, December 02 in the UK, and on December 03 in the United States. Japan received their edition on December 04, which included some bonus remixes. Executive produced by will.i.am, with whom she had already collaborated in 2011 on Big Fat Bass, 2012 on Scream & Shout and early 2013 on the remix for the latter, the album features mostly pop and EDM sounds, with a mixture of up-tempo club bangers and ballads. Announced as her most personal album ever, the lyrics talk about a variety of topics, covering aspects of fame and its effects, in songs such as Work ***** and Alien, heartbreaks and breakups in Perfume or Til It's Gone and even touches more spiritual themes in songs such as Brightest Morning Star and Now That I Found You. The album features will.i.am himself on the track It Should Be Easy, rapper T. I. on Tik Tik Boom and her sister Jamie Lynn on Chillin' With You. The standard version of the album leaked online on November 20, days ahead of the planned release date. About the event Britney tweeted: "To those of you listening to the leaks... I hope you love... I made this album specifically for my diehard fans so I'm just hoping every song touches you because each one is a piece of me" The album debuted and peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200, with the lowest first-week sales out of all of her albums since ...Baby One More Time, 107K units. Which was still impressive considering the leak two weeks prior, the week of free streaming and the lack of promo. It went #1 in China and #2 in Venezuela though, reaching Top 15, Top 20 and Top 30 in the majority of the other countries it charted. No more singles were released besides the two that had already been put out before the album release: Work ***** and Perfume. On her documentary I Am Britney Jean, Alien was suggested to be released as a third single eventually, but this never happened. Audio clips for Now That I Found You and It Should Be Easy were uploaded to her Youtube channel in 2014, but nothing happened afterwards. In the following months, several songs of the album were sent to various radio stations across the US for testing purposes. Radio campaigns organized mostly by Exhalers were done in order to request such songs on each of the stations. It Should Be Easy was eventually sent to radio stations in Italy too. Though they weren't released for commercial purposes, official remixes for It Should Be Easy and Tik Tik Boom were issued in early 2014, but they were sent to nightclubs exclusively. Some fanmade CD's are still making the rounds on the internet. Where it all began As early as August 2012, while she was participating on The X Factor as a judge, anticipation for her eighth studio album started to show in the music scene, since this record would mark the end of her recording contract, which was owned by RCA after they absorbed Jive Records in 2011, the original label that had signed Britney Spears. People such as L. A. Reid, co-judge on the show, and Barry Weiss, the former head of Jive, showed interest in getting Britney to join their respective record labels after she was done with "B8". (She ultimately renewed her contract with RCA). In October, "Blackout" was trending on Twitter for the fifth anniversary of the album, to which Britney took notice and teased a follow up to the record with a tweet: "I heard Happy Birthday Blackout was trending earlier... thank u all for loving the album as much as I do. Blackout 2.0?" It ended up being a "Blackout 2.0" indeed, only in the sense that they both failed to hit the Top spot on the Billboard 200 chart, and they both lacked of promo performances or a corresponding tour as the other albums of hers did. Also because they're both fan favorites It was earlier that October that she was seen on The X Factor with old collaborator Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins at the studio, while she was receiving a call from Simon. It was denied by her reps that they were working together on new music though, but in early 2013 it was confirmed that even though in early stages, she had started to work with "inspiring producers" like Hit-Boy (who remixed Scream & Shout). will.i.am was also confirmed to be part of the project. Another person denied by her reps was Elijah Blake, who had told MTV in December 2012 that he had spent some time at the studio with Britney: "I would say it's definitely the 'unexpected' Britney in so many ways, in that she's playing with new textures and stomping on new grounds and genres. From talking to her, she's definitely trying to push the envelope this time — and really talk from a more personal point of view, and with Rodney Jerkins by her side, I'm hella excited. You're talking about Darkchild, the guy who changes music over and over again and never runs out of ideas. This album is gonna be crazy!" At the set of the music video of Scream & Shout (Remix) Hit-Boy commented to MTV about working with Britney: He ultimately didn't appear on the album Other collaborators that didn't make the cut were Scoop DeVille and Wiz Khalifa. On her interview with Shape magazine, Britney commented “the record is definitely going to be more hip-hop than pop this time around.” Where it truly began In May 2013, will.i.am confirmed to be the executive producer of the record. In an interview for Billboard he explained a little bit about the process of recording he was having with Britney: According to Larry Rudolph, Britney told him about will.i.am “I want Will to be a central figure in the album; I don’t want to have hundreds of songs sent over.” will.i.am added "Sometimes I’d write songs; some of them came from other people. But Britney wrote a lot of the songs.” (Britney appears credited as co-writer on every single track on the album). "We need to talk about what she's excited about in life. I gotta talk about the things that hurt her. I gotta talk about the things that make her concerned — she's a mother," will.i.am said. "I gotta talk to her about all the things that her fans want to talk to her about. I gotta be the vehicle between her and her fans. We can't do another song about going on the dance floor. Really? Didn't we see a bunch of Britney doing that already? Don't we want to see something that comes from her heart?" Anthony Preston worked with him as associate executive producer. Later that month, Naughty Boy and William Orbit were also confirmed to be part of the record. Naughty Boy however, ended up not taking part in it, due to the tight schedule he had while promoting his own material. In July, Britney also confirmed to have created a song with Sia. She tweeted: "Had an AMAZING writing session today with the beautiful and talented Sia. We wrote such a special song together : ) " About working with Britney, Sia commented "Britney was extremely sweet, she came in with the title ‘Brightest Morning Star’ and told me that’s how Jesus found his way. She wanted to write a kind of gospel song that wasn’t ramming it down your throat." In August, Britney shared the recipe for Album #8: In September, the day of the Desert Performance announcement of her Vegas residency Britney: Piece of Me during Good Morning America, she revealed the still untitled album would be released on December 3. She also revealed there would be a song called Perfume. In October she traveled to the UK and did a bunch of interviews to promote the Vegas show, her single Work ***** and the upcoming album. She revealed the title of the record to Capital FM, Britney Jean At Ellen she explained it was the "term of endearment" her family would call her when "she was bad" Later that month she wrote her fans an open letter and revealed the artwork of the album. ( Standard cover / Deluxe cover / Arabia Saudi cover ) In November she confirmed the tracklist of the album after it had leaked online "Sneaky hackers always trying to ruin my surprises. Here is the TRUE #BritneyJeanTrackList" Before the album leaked in full, some of the tracks had leaked already, such as Passenger and an early demo of Alien. A demo of Tik Tik Boom performed by G.R.L. also hit the net. After it was available, it was very well received by fans, at least by most Exhalers On the BreatheHeavy's forum countless threads were done in order to support every song of the album: #TeamAlien #TeamBodyAche #TeamTilIt'sGone etc were the common topics you would see those days. Every song received the fan support to be released as the next single (except maybe Chillin' With You ) Later, the album would be surrounded by controversy, after the leaking of some audios of the recording sessions of Alien, where she sounded out of tune (which William Orbit explained to be just warming up exercises that weren't supposed to be released to the public) and the allegations of Exhale's favorite backup singer Myah Marie to be lead singer on the album instead of Britney. Myah Marie has denied the claims more times than the amount of singles she's ever released: “I am so grateful for the opportunity to provide background vocals for Britney Spears on a small number of her most recent works, I most certainly cannot take credit for her tremendous talent as a singer. She is a veritable ‘living legend’ with a longstanding reputation for excellence in all aspects of her artistry.” A, now iconic, glitch that can be heard in the final version of Alien was also criticized by fans, with William Orbit blaming it on will.i.am's production. "One day the story will.be.told But right now, the future is far too bright to look back". The album received mixed reviews because of how impersonal it sounded to some after the numerous occasions it was stated this would be her most personal album ever. Its sound was also criticized for being a bit dated. To this day, though the album hasn't managed to sell lots of copies around the world, it somehow is the only album of Britney that keeps charting on iTunes on several countries simultaneously in a consistent fashion, almost a decade after its release. In 2020, Urban Outfitters released a hot pink vinyl of Britney Jean. In 2021 it got a clear edition and a cassette release.
  3. I remember an interview when the song was released, Britney said that the whole concept of the video was her idea and about the song in one part she mentioned that she didn't know why the producers had put the voice of the backing singer over her voice in the song. What do you think that Britney would think about Myah marie's situation, I remember the rumors that said that her team had a singer "imitating" her voice during the BJ recordings because Britney was not in condition and they didn't even tell her, Do you think that maybe Britney thinks that Myah's voice is her voice just heavily edited?

  5. On September 17, 2013, Britney Spears released Work *****, the lead single off her eighth studio album Britney Jean. It was written by Britney, will.i.amwill, Otto "Knows" Jettman, Sebastian Ingrosso, Anthony Preston and Ruth-Anne Cunningham , while the production was handled by Ingrosso, Pasquale Verrigni, Jettman and will.i.am. The song peaked at #12 on the BBH100, while managing to land on Top 10 in 14 other countries outside the US. In the EDM track with mostly spoken lyrics, Britney exhorts "*****es" (a term of endearment) to work in order get things in life such as a hot body, a Bugatti or to party in France. Prior to its release, a countdown appeared on her website hinting at the release of new music. The site displayed the text "ALL EYES ON ME" leading fans to believe that that was the title of the new song. Rumors sparked about RuPaul being featured on the track. Work ***** originally premiered on radio on September 15, but the official release was on the 17, the same day she announced her first Las Vegas residency, Piece of Me on Good Morning America. The Desert Performance After months of speculation that she would be starting a residency show in Las Vegas, Britney Spears made the official announcement after a helicopter stunt broadcasted by the T.V. show Good Morning America. More than 1000 fans gathered in the desert to see her perform holding signs that together showed the picture of Britney Spears while she hovered in the helicopter. Live performances Work ***** did not receive any promo performances upon its release. Instead, she said on an interview she would be "performing" it on the music video ( ) which was released on October 1st: Eventually, the song was finally performed for the first time as the opening number of her show Piece of Me. It stayed as such, until the end of the residency, as well as the respective tours in 2017, and 2018. It was also performed on her various festival appearances in 2016 as well as at the Billboard Music Awards medley from that year. The song was also performed along with Toxic during the **** Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2018 T.V. special. A clean version of the song titled Work Work was also released the same day.
  6. After everything that's gone on with Britney in recent years and even before then, I've always listened to this song and thought it was kinda like a love letter to the fans and would be better as a ballad... so here we are!! Stream below on SoundCloud & YouTube Below Enjoy!!!🥰
  7. As many of us know, by the final chorus of Tik Tik Boom, it sounds like she's fully not saying "Tik Tik" at all. In your opinion, was the song meant to be another subversive moment a la' If You Seek Amy", where there was a potential opportunity to dupe stations into giving a naughty word some airplay, or are some of us just pervs for thinking it sounds dirty when it's not? Bonus questions: - Do you think the track was ever considered for a single? - Do you find TI's contribution problematic?
  8. I never wanted to believe the Britney Jean album was dubbed by Myah Marie. That said, six years later, the allegations persist, and there is some audio evidence that Myah Marie did dub certain parts (such as the chorus of Brightest Morning Star—I've listened to Myah's raw takes as well as Britney's—the "take me home" part of Alien and the "Not alone" hook of Alien). Note: ad-libs like those heard at the end of Tik Tik Boom don't actually qualify as dubbing. This video resumes all of the allegations: Years ago, after gathering evidence, a Michael Jackson fan brought a lawsuit against Sony Music over three songs alleged to have been dubbed by vocalist Jason Malachi on a posthumous release called Michael. Sony, however, managed to win twice: https://www.mjvibe.com/sony-wins-fake-michael-jackson-recording-claims-for-second-time/ The case is still ongoing, though: This takes us to Britney Jean, an RCA (Sony Music) release. I've spoken to a lawyer, and here's how it goes. If the allegations are true, fraud was indeed committed by a number of participants (Anthony Preston, will.i.am, William Orbit, Julian Prindle, David Guetta and so on + Myah Marie, Britney Spears and RCA executives). In order to initiate legal action... 1. We'd need a forensic analysis of the lead vocals of the Britney Jean album. Such an analysis could cost around $400 per hour, and it would likely take a few days at least. The analyst would need to (if not already familiar) take some time to get familiar w/ Britney Spears' recording voice, and then do the same thing w/ Myah Marie's by listening to her own solo material. Would any of you be interested in crowdfunding the analysis? 2. We'd need a plaintiff, preferably someone living in the United States who purchased a copy of Britney Jean (hence gave RCA money) believing Britney Spears was indeed the lead vocalist of all songs. 3. We'd need witnesses, credible witnesses. Lawyers don't like conspiracy theories, and they'd need credible witnesses as in individuals close to the situation who may have seen or heard something and have a serious reason to believe dubbing indeed occurred on that record. 4. We'd need to explain why would RCA commit such fraud knowing the risk, the liability that it is, esp. after the Milli Vanilli scandal and since Myah Marie's own father, Murray Langston, claimed his daughter was dubbing Britney's voice months prior to the album's release. Unless we come up with a plausible explanation, our accusation may be seen as a baseless conspiracy theory. To conclude, if there was indeed some dubbing, proving all of Body Ache and most of Work B***h, Chillin' With You and Til It's Gone were also dubbed is going to be harder. Note: In the booklet, Myah Marie's credited for singing background vocals on Work *****, Tik Tik Boom, Til It's Gone, Chillin' With You and Now That I Found You. On SoundBetter, Myah Marie confirms in her credits to have also done background vocals on Alien, It Should Be Easy and Body Ache. On her Spotify playlist Songs I've Been a Part of, Myah Marie confirms to have also done background vocals on Don't Cry, Brightest Morning Star and Hold on Tight.
  9. In this new podcast episode Anthony talks about his experiences with Britney in 2013, he questions if the studio they worked in at the time was tapped by blackbox after it was swept, verbal abuse by her team and reveals he worked on a unreleased BJ song that he says is “really good” and hopes it will see the light of day and his future projects https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/work-britney-spears-songwriter-and-producer-anthony/id1528417596?i=1000555615407
  10. Anthony talks about more about Britney’s controversial BJ album and says he no regrets about it but says it’s a creative lesson. He also says he wants to reach out to Britney but reveals her number changed immediately after working with her but is happy that she’s living her life. He also hopes one day he can work for her again for BJ 2.0 https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/now-that-i-found-you-britney-spears-producer-anthony/id1528417596?i=1000555754194
  11. In the new episode for “Alien” on the Original Doll podcast, he talks about how he tried his best with what he was given (team CON BS) - tried to keep Britney motivated (seems like she was genuinely checked OUT as we know) and tried to deal with the horse**** (he used that word) of it all. He wishes he could have done more for Britney both inside and outside of the studio and he wishes he was stronger back than to have done that. She was asking him for help back then but everything was so highly controlled it was so difficult for him because he was new to all this. He says he’s cautious about what he shares about his private conversations with Britney but he does say that she told him “I used to be so strong, I used to be in control of my career” and he’s proud to see her be strong and take control of her life and career. He said he’ll leave it to Britney to share her story about this album when/if she’s ready too but mistakes were made, some which he could have tried to fix back then but a lot that was out of his control. He mentioned with “Hold on Tight” she said to him “umm..I wrote a song and I want to record it” and he said “let’s record it” and she said “do you think I’ll get in trouble?” and he said “you won’t get in trouble for recording a song”. With Alien, the 2nd verse was not written so when he shared the song with Britney, she asked if he could help her with writing the 2nd verse and they did that together. He also said he’s glad things have been exposed on what truly happened to her back then and he hopes it puts things into perspective on the constraints around the BJ album project/production. 12. Here’s a snippet of her vocals on Body Ache It’s the second verse. Myah Marie confirmed in a podcast that Britney both recorded and performed it on the song. She has told other fans and independent artists that she ended up dubbing most of the song because Britney was unable to spend much time in the studio because of the Vegas residency. Myah said that the producers blended Britney’s vocals with hers in the final song. Although, it’s clear that Myah’s voice is more prominent. I hope this settles the debate. Fans have insisted for years that Britney had nothing to do with Body Ache and that it was a last minute filler song. The fact that she actually did spend time recording it settles it!
  13. Anthony Preston talks his work with Britney in the BJ era in podcast episodes. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/it-should-be-easy-britney-spears-songwriter-and/id1528417596?i=1000554781357 Related:

  15. I Came To Dance is a reference demo track by Jessica Eden Malakouti AKA Eden xo & Sean Paul, submitted during the sessions for "Britney Jean". According to Eden, the track was written by herself and Britney Spears recorded it along with will.i.am and Toby Gad, which produced the track. Sadly, the song ended up being scrapped from the final tracklist. Eden xo's brief talk on Instagram: https://i.imgur.com/wiq3Rkj.jpeg
  16. QUEEN. She also has a hard time choosing her favorite Britney song. Its a mix between Gimme More, Toxic, and Everytime...the range. Charli is a stan. Btw I had NO idea she was going on tonight and literally spent my day off planning and booking my trip to her Boston show in six weeks for her crash tour. I ******* LOVE HER. And I LOVE her love for Brit Brit. ♥️ Stream Good Ones and Beg For You
  17. On January 08, 2014, the 40th People's Choice Awards took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Britney Spears was voted Favorite Pop Artist, beating Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake. There were two other categories that she didn't win though: Favorite Pop Artist - won Favorite Female Artist - lost to Demi Lovato Favorite Music Fan Following (Britney Army) - lost to Demi Lovato's Lovatics
  18. On December 22, 2013, I am Britney Jean aired on E channel. It was a documentary about the preparations for Britney's then upcoming Las Vegas residency, Britney: Piece of Me, as well as the release of Britney Jean, the listening party, promo appearances and the filming of its two music videos, Work ***** and Perfume, as well as a some sneak peeks into her family life.
  19. On December 10, 2013, Britney Spears released the Perfume music video to promote the second and last single off her, fan-favorite, eighth studio album Britney Jean. It was directed by Joseph Kahn who had previously worked on the Stronger, Toxic and Womanizer videos, and it was filmed from November 19 to 21 in the California desert and Lancaster. The video portrays Britney and her lover, played by model Alexander Kjellevik, doing several activities like taking a trip at night, walking on the street while the guy flips his middle fingers to the world, drinking a beer on the roof of a motel, bathing in a pool and at some point Britney makes a ring out of a crooked nail and gives it to him as a symbol of love. In 2013, in an interview for ET, she spoke very briefly about handling the situation of kissing a guy in a music video, while having a boyfriend in real life: "[...] we had a discussion about that, you know, it's like, it's really weird 'cause in Hollywood it's so acceptable to just like go and do a movie and make out with somebody and 'cause you're just, you know, flattered to be in a movie and stuff, but I think, you know, some people who are very old-fashioned kind of don't believe in that manner, so um, we're kind of like torn on the whole situation". Later in the video, we see Britney wearing lingerie, in front of the mirror of the bathroom, putting on her Fantasy perfume, when a message from Cindy, played by Alandrea Martin, pops up on the screen of an iPhone. Afterwards, we see the guy and Cindy meeting at a gas station, while Britney is watching them from the distance inside a truck. The guy and his new partner, repeat the same activities we see him doing with Britney at the beginning of the video, while Britney drives away and is later seen crying inside the room of a motel. At the end we see the guy looking at the window, holding the ring Britney gave him. Throughout the video, we see intercalated aerial shots of Britney singing the song while wearing lingerie and her lover's shirt, lying in a mattress, with her man sleeping besides her. Several teasers were released previous to the premiere of the video. Britney shared on Facebook: "We've set a date! Perfume vid will premiere Tuesday on VEVO. Had to dig deep and really play with some acting chops for this one!" After being uploaded to her VEVO account in December 10, the video received positive reviews from critics, but not so much from the fans. The concept and storyline of the video seemed confusing and dull despite the very theatrical overall vibe of the clip. The amount of views it received was very overwhelming, paling in comparison to the massive hit its predecessor Work ***** was. To this day, seven years later, it's still yet to hit the 40M mark. However it did pretty well on the VH1 Top 20 in Latin America, occupying the top position for several weeks. The original concept On December 05, Joseph Kahn, the director of the video tweeted "Sigh I love my original edit no one will ever see. I'm gonna go cry in the arms of a Senegalese hooker". Two days later, he continued: "Internet calm down. I never said I didn't like the #Perfume video. I said I preferred my very different cut but their cut is fine. Jeez. Artists have the right to release their videos the way they want. I'm just a work for hire. It's their money & their career. No worries". Then on December 10 he added: "Wish they'd release the director's cut of #perfume. Britney's performance is unbelievable. A tur artist in it. Game changer. Official cut is a good video as you'll soon see. But it's a true loss not to see what she really did. It's incredible. Beyond other artists. Maybe if your voice is loud enough they'll release it. But other than that, I just needed to tell the truth. Something amazing is waiting". "The DC is a minute longer and there's a very shocking ending. But not what you think. I call it BREAKING BADNEY." In January 2014, Joseph was asked about it in an interview for Videostatic (who had also seen the original video): In July 2014, a person that claimed to be friends with someone working for a production company in Los Angeles leaked through a Facebook group what was supposed to be the original treatment of the video: Joseph Kahn confirmed these claims to be somewhat true, explaining some things were actually changed prior to the filming of the video He also clarified that things like Cindy's phone call were added after he was asked to change the storyline In 2015, in an interview for BreatheHeavy, he talked about Britney and the Perfume video: Tbh, the comments section of the video is mostly positive, it seems that just not a lot of people know about it, or those that do, didn't care to go back and re-watch it after they did it the first time. Footage of the original Make Me... video, which was also scrapped in 2016, ultimately leaked and to me that seemed even more impossible to happen compared to the original Perfume concept, so who knows if the Director's Cut will ever see the light.
  20. Monday October 18, 2021 7am PT It's time, girl. I've wanted to do this thread for quite some time but was wanting to mentally prepare myself for the dragging and the shade reign But I'm not holding back anything in this new Center Stage era of life. So here goes.... I've told my friends, my homies and family that Britney Jean remains one of my favorite Britney records. I have not shared this opinion on Exhale before. I'm ready to be dragged. For me it does feel like a personal record with songs like Passenger, Now That I Found You, Don't Cry, Hold on Tight, Brightest Morning Star, Til It's Gone, Perfume... Hello?? Don't y'all see the lyrics? Yes there is flaws like the vocals on Passenger sound more like Myah than Britney. which sux because Passenger could have been one of my favorites especially since Diplo produced it and he's one of my fave producers and DJs. More flaws include It Should Be Easy which should have not had robotic vocals that's my only argument other than that it's a fun song and the production was very Las Vegas sounding. Then we got THIS iconic music video that will go down in Britney HERstory! I mean I know this probably wasn't one of Britney's favorite videos at the time because of the ***iness (that was her "I'm a Mom" era, before she accepted her ***ual freedom of expression like she does now via nude IG posts) I personally loved the Perfume video and single. It's honestly so underrated Then we got this beautiful performance from POM Plus I'm hella pressed that we did not get more singles. Despite many views amongst Britney Army worldwide, there are many songs that could have skyrocketed the charts. Til It's Gone, Now That I Found You, Don't Cry, Body Ache, Tik Tik Boom and Alien could have all been singles! Just so many bops! Yes like I said it has its flaws and compared to Britney's other work it doesn't come close to that but if you listen to it maybe as an EP or a mixtape you might appreciate it more. I feel some of the production aged well in this record as well. Thoughts? Me jamming to Work Bxxch @rennen @MikeHunt @BritneyLVR @DJBringItBack @Kevney @I Always Sing Live @Jordan Miller @Style.
