  1. Mexican singer Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda Mottola, simply known as Thalia was born on August 26, 1971 in Mexico City. At age 9 she joined children's group Pac Man, later known as Din-Din to participate in a TV music festival called Juguemos a Cantar, and later in 1986, she would join Timbiriche, one of the most successful pop groups ever in Latin America, until she left the band in 1989 to pursue a solo career. Parallel to her singing career, she ventured into acting in the late 80's, a highlight being her participation in the juvenile soap opera Quinceañera, and later starring in the "trilogy of the Marías" in the 90's: María Mercedes (1992), Mari Mar (1994) and María la del Barrio (1995), which have been aired in over 180 countries around the world, giving her the title of "Queen of telenovelas" and making her the highest paid actress ever in Televisa, the biggest TV network in Mexico. Her telenovelas helped her music reach non-Spanish speaking territories, such as Europe and Asia, becoming the most widely recognized Spanish-speaking soap star in the world, and even obtaining the legend status in the Philippines. Her last telenovela so far has been Rosalinda in 1999. After leaving Timbiriche in 1989, she moved to Spain where she hosted the late night show VIP Noche, and then she was signed by the now defunct Melody, who published her first three studio albums: Thalía (1990), Mundo de Cristal (1991) and Love (1992). She caused controversy with her provocative image and the topics of her songs, as well as the outrageous outfits she would wear onstage. Then she was signed with EMI with whom she released her next seven studio albums, the first of which gave her her first international hits, including the opening themes of her telenovelas. In 1995 she released En Éxtasis, which sold over 2 million copies worldwide. The singles were Piel Morena, Amándote, María la del Barrio, Quiero Hacerte el Amor and Gracias a Dios. In 1997 she released a special album for the Philippines, Nandito Ako, recorded in English and Tagalog, certified 3x Platinum there. Later that same year, her follow-up studio album, Amor a la Mexicana was released, with the song of the same name released as the lead single, followed by 6 other singles including Por Amor and Mujer Latina. In 2000, Arrasando was released, one of the most successful albums of her career. The singles were Entre el Mar y una Estrella, Regresa a Mí, Arrasando, Menta y Canela, Reencarnación and Rosalinda. Her second self-titled album, Thalía, was released in 2002. Tú y Yo, No Me Enseñaste, ¿A Quién le Importa? and Dance Dance (The Mexican) were released as singles to promote this record. Following that, in 2003, her third self-titled album Thalía was released, this one recorded in English. I Want You / Me Pones **** was a collaboration with Fat Joe, released as the lead single, peaking at #22 on the BBH100. Other singles were Baby, I'm in Love / Alguien Real, Don't Look Back/Toda la Felicidad, Closer to You/Cerca de Ti and Dance Dance (The Mexican). Her compilation Greatest Hits was released in 2004, promoting it with the single Acción y Reacción. El ***to Sentido was released in 2005. Amar Sin Ser Amada, Un Alma Sentenciada, Seducción and Olvídame were the singles off this album. Lunada was released in 2008 and it would be her last album under EMI. She struggled with the Lyme disease after being bitten by a tick, forcing her to cancel further promotion for this record besides the lead single Ten Paciencia and promo single Será Porque Te Amo, thus making it one of her least successful albums in terms of sales. However, she would come back the following year, with Primera Fila, a live album, the first one to be released under her new contract with Sony Music. Equivocada, Qué Será de Ti, Con la Duda, Estoy Enamorado, Enséñame a Vivir and El Próximo Viernes were released as singles. In 2012, Habítame Siempre was released, topping the Latin charts in the US. Manías, Te Perdiste Mi Amor and La Apuesta were the three singles to promote this record. In 2013, yet another self-titled album was released, Thalía, this time a compilation album exclusive to Brazil, that included 4 songs re-recorded in Portuguese. Estou Apaixonado was the only single, and it featured singer Daniel. In a surprising turn of events, in 2014 she released her first album for children, Viva Kids. It mostly contained covers of traditional songs for children. And later that year, she would release Amore Mio, with the singles Por Lo Que Reste de Vida, Amore Mio, Como Tú No Hay Dos and Sólo Parecía Amor. In 2016, she released Latina, with the lead single Desde Esa Noche featuring Maluma, followed by Vuélveme a Querer and Todavía Te Quiero. Her fifteenth studio album Valiente was released in 2018. Her mega successful hit No Me Acuerdo featuring Natti Natasha appeared in almost 30 charts around the world, and the music video was the first one to reach a billion views on Youtube by a Mexican artist. Around this time, a video of hers that she did during a Facebook Live transmission went viral because of the several things she did during the chat with her fans, leading to the release of the song Me Oyen, Me Esuchan. Other singles were Lento, Lindo Pero Bruto, Qué Ironía, Ahí, Vikingo and Por Amor al Arte. In 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, she released Viva Kids Vol. 2, the follow up to her children's album from 2014. This time, all the songs were new tracks written by Thalia herself. And in 2021, desAMORfosis was released as her seventeenth studio album. It featured the singles released throughout 2020 plus a few new songs: Ya Tú Me Conoces, La Luz, Tick Tock, Mojito, Eres Mío and Cancelado. Related:
  2. Spanish singer Lola Índigo has teamed up with the Argentine TINI and Mexican pop princess Belinda (originally born in Spain) for her latest bop Niña de la Escuela. In the fun track, Lola tells a man that she's "that girl from school" that he used to ignore, but now that she's grown up he can't stop exclaiming "oh nena". After some teasers, the music video was dropped today, featuring a pink theme throughout the various scenes. Previously, Belinda's look from the video had caused some controversy in Mexico, since the outfit she wears was also used by fellow Mexican singer Danna Paola on a promo photoshoot that was released the very same day that Belinda teased the clip, starting a series of comparisons between the two.
  3. Paulina Susana Rubio Dosamantes, better known as Paulina Rubio or La Chica Dorada (the Golden Girl) was born on June 17, 1971 in Mexico City, daughter of legendary actress Susana Dosamantes. She started her career in 1982 as one of the original members of pop band Timbiriche, the teen sensation which would become one of the biggest groups of Latin Pop's history. Despite not having the greatest voice ( ) she always stood out for her image and confident attitude, and her mythical rivalry with bandmate Thalia was key for the success of the band. She left the group in 1991, becoming one of original members that lasted the longest. After this she launched her solo career, releasing her first studio album La Chica Dorada, with a lead single that became one of the most iconic songs of her career, Mío. The single was a response to Alejandra Guzmán's Hey Güera. Turns out this was all about a love triangle between them and fellow Timbiriche member Erik Rubín (they all claim to be in good terms now that he married another woman that's neither of them ). Other singles from that album were Abriendo las Puertas al Amor, Amor de Mujer and Sabor a Miel. That same year she participated on the soap opera Baila Conmigo In 1993, she released her second album 24 Kilates, with the singles Nieva, Nieva, Él Me Engañó, Vuelve Junto a Mí and Asunto de Dos. El Tiempo es Oro would come in 1995, and just like the title says, she didn't waste time this year. Besides releasing this third studio effort, she also starred in the film Bésame en la Boca as well as the soap opera Pobre Niña Rica. Te Daría Mi Vida, Nada de Ti, Hoy te Dejé de Amar and Bésame en la Boca were some of the hits from this era. By 1996, she took us to her planet with a more mature sound incorporating dance and euro rhythms on what was her fourth studio album Planeta Paulina, the first one to be co-produced by Paulina herself. Siempre Tuya Desde la Raíz, Solo por Ti, Miedo and Enamorada were the singles released in order to promote this album. The Enamorada music video caused a bit of controversy, since it insinuates that her partner is cheating on her with another man, a topic which was rarely addressed at the time on tv or music in Latin America. A new era was coming for Paulina in the late 90's. A legal battle with her former record label EMI and a reunion with Timbiriche in 1998. And in 1999 she hosted in Spain the summer variety TV show Vive el Verano, for which she also sang the opening theme. The year was 2000, and a new record deal with Universal Music would make possible her fifth studio album titled Paulina. To this day, it's Paulina's most successful album ever, with over 3 million copies sold worldwide. Hit after hit, it managed to position seven singles on the popularity charts: Lo Haré por Ti, El Último Adiós, Y Yo Sigo Aquí, Yo No Soy Esa Mujer, Vive el Verano, ***i Dance and Tal Vez, Quizá. While she was readying her sixth studio album, her former record label couldn't move on with her departure and kept releasing compilation albums featuring her hits from the 90's, they went even as far as to release some English versions of her songs that she had recorded for what was supposed to be her first crossover album, that the label itself decided to scrap back then. Her real crossover album, Border Girl, was released in the summer of 2002. It peaked at #11 in the US Billboard 200 chart and it was certified Gold for over 500,000 copies. It included English versions of some of the tracks from the previous album, such as I'll Be Right Here (Y Yo Sigo Aquí) and Fire (**** Dance), but the most successful song was Don't Say Goodbye (also released in Spanish as Si Tú Te Vas). Don't Say Goodbye peaked at #41 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other singles were The One You Love (Todo Mi Amor), Casanova (Baila Casanova) and Libre. In 2002 she also toured with Enrique Iglesias. 2004, and she was unstoppable. Pau-Latina, her seventh studio album was released that year, and though it didn't get the same success on the charts, peaking at #102 on the Billboard 200, it peaked at #6 and #3 on the Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts respectively, and it was certified 2x platinum by the RIAA. Te Quise Tanto, Algo Tienes, Dame Otro Tequila were the biggest singles, becoming instant classics that to this day are still played on the radio. To a lesser extent, Mía was also a moderate hit. In 2005 she collaborated with fellow Mexican singer Julieta Venegas and the Argentinian Coti on Nada Fue un Error, a massive radio hit. In 2006 she was still going strong with Ananda, her eighth studio album, which topped the Mexican chart as well as the US Latin charts, while peaking at #31 on the Billboard 200. Ni Una Sola Palabra would become one of her signature hits for the following years. Nada Puede Cambiarme and Ayúdame were other singles from the album. Nada Puede Cambiarme featured Slash, Guns N' Roses' guitarist, playing the guitar. It was in 2007 that she collaborated with the legendary singer from Spain Miguel Bosé, on a new version of his hit Nena. and if you thought her former label EMI had given up by now, well, it hadn't. In fact, after yet another compilation released in 2006, they released a new remix album in 2007. If you're still reading this, bear with me 'cause we're only on her ninth studio album, Gran City Pop, released in 2009. Peaking at #44, it closed the 00's era in pop music with hits such as Causa y Efecto, Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes and Algo de Ti. This would really be the end not only of a streak of success in Paulina's career, but the Latin music scene really changed after this. The following years, EDM took over, and the change didn't suit Paulina very well. Then, at some point along the way in the 2010's decade, reggaeton and urban genres took over, and the kind of pop music Paulina was known for has never gained back its position again, for now. Despite this, she still released Brava! in 2011, her tenth studio album. Me Gustas Tanto and Me Voy were the initial singles, but later she would re-release the album promoting it with the English hit Boys Will Be Boys. She had become the mom of a baby boy in 2010. In 2012 she joined the judge panel of he Mexican edition of The Voice And in 2013, she replaced Britney Spears on the third season of the US' The X Factor, joining Kelly Rowland, Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell. Since then, she's appeared on other TV competitions, and she wouldn't release her next album until 2018, titled Deseo, which included singles she had released between 2015 and 2016, plus new songs. She had her second baby in 2016. Although she went back to her pop roots after exploring a little bit with the urban sounds, as I said, the new music scene doesn't really have a space for classic pop music anymore, so she only saw a moderate success on radio. After this, in 2019, she parted ways with Universal Music after 20 years, after her contract ended. According to the reports, it was her decision to go by herself, probably after there were some issues with an unreleased video that she intended to put out and that still hasn't seen the light. Some stand-alone singles have come out in the past few years. Si Supieran, a diss track that talks about her exes getting together after she dumped them, was the reason for a lawsuit from her ex-husband and father of her first son. In what seemed like a comedy sketch, the judge and the lawyers had to go through the lyrics of the song and question Paulina about the true meaning behind the track. Another track she released independently was De Qué Sirve In 2020 she had plans to do a joint tour with no other than Alejandra Guzmán, her former love rival to whom she dedicated her first single, remember? They even recorded a duet together and filmed the videoclip, a cover from the 80's Ni Tú Ni Nadie, but the whole project was scrapped before it was even announced, supposedly because of Alejandra getting fed up with Paulina's diva attitudes, such as arriving late to the set of the music video lol A low quality clip leaked, however, teasing fans of both artists what could've been but never will. the tour would've been scrapped anyways due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So that's a summary of Paulina Rubio's career, who celebrated yesterday her 50th birthday. She's done a few live performances here and there, and she's teased new music, so we'll have to wait and see what she has in store. Happy birthday Paulina Rubio!! Related:
  4. Mexican singer Danna Paola has premiered a new video for her latest single MÍA. Tired of drama and always "dying" for love, she decides to leave the men behind and instead goes to have fun with her girlfriends, between neon lights and roller skates, giving a modern twist to the classic fairy-tales such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. The new single does not belong to any album yet, but it will most likely be included in a future release. Her sixth studio album came out this January, and she's ready for the new era already. Lately she's collaborated with other artists such as David Bisbal, Lasso and Morat, as well as the soundtrack of Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon movie. Earlier today she made a tv appearance to promote the new single, where they went down memory lane to look back at her career of more than 20 years. Related:
  5. Mexican singers Christian Nodal and Belinda have released a cover of classic Mexican song Si Nos Dejan. The track serves as the opening theme of the latest soap opera of the same name which premiered this week. The original song was written by José Alfredo Jiménez, one of the biggest and most talented artists of the last century, whose compositions are considered the basis of modern Mexican music. Si Nos Dejan was originally made famous by Mexican diva Lola Beltrán in the late 60's. Belinda herself had already done a pop version of the song back in 2001 for the soap opera Aventuras en el Tiempo. The release of the song follows the announcement of their engagement last week. Christian, 22, and Belinda, 30 (now claiming to be 28), met last year when they were both coaches on the 9th season of the Mexican version of The Voice. After many rumors and speculation they finally confirmed their relationship and it was on May 25 that the couple confirmed they're getting married through their social media accounts. The Mexican press hasn't stopped talking about the engagement ring, which is estimated to be worth around $3M USD. At his young age, Christian Nodal has achieved a lot of success with four records, and his most successful song, Adiós Amor, a cover, has sold over 1.2M copies just in the United States, getting the Diamond and 21x Platinum RIAA certification. Belinda, who started her career in 2000 acting in soap operas for kids, has also had several hits throughout the years, although recently she's been dedicated to side projects, such as being judge in singing competitions, though she sporadically releases some singles: Her love life has always been a reason for speculation, since most of her past boyfriends have been usually very famous people, from soccer players, to artists, to Criss Angel himself. And it was precisely with Criss Angel that she had one of the most scandalous breakups since he talked very poorly about her after the relationship ended, with the Mexican press backing her up for the first time since forever. They were so in bad terms, that he even refused to give her the music video he had produced for her, though it ultimately was released last year. It's been revealed that he even changed the tattoo he had done with her name on his chest, changing it from "Beli" to "God"
  6. Mexican singer Thalia revisited her iconic looks in the latest edition of Mexican Vogue "La Vida en looks". In a photoshoot by Raúl Tovar, Thalia, now 49, recreated some of her pictures from her 1992 Love era, shot by Adolfo Pérez Butrón; she was 21 at the time. Related:

It's set to be released on May 14. Update: she's teased the new song Mojito She's revealed the album cover, and a link to presave the album on different digital platforms. She's also announced a new upcoming website called "Universo desAMORfosis", where exclusive content will be shared. Earlier today she teased the announcement of the new album with a post, that seems to preview a new track. In previous days, she's also hinted at her three singles released last year to be part of this new album: Ya Tú Me Conoces, La Luz and Tick Tock. desAMORfosis follows up Valiente, released in 2018 and Viva Kids Vol. 2, her second album consistent of children's songs, released in 2020. She also covered a couple of Christian songs in the past few months, that don't seem to be tied to any upcoming project. Related:
  8. Mexican singer Thalia just dropped Mojito, the latest single off her upcoming album desAMORfosis, which is set to be released on May 14. The sensual track that alludes to the Cuban cocktail mixes various rhythms, from the strings typical of Latin genres, to the more urban beats of recent trends, using several analogies related to the beverage to describe the relationship with her love interest. The song was co-written by Thalia and Andrea Mangiamarchi, along with "Los Honeyboos" Daniel Rondón and Rafael Rodríguez, the latter of which also produced the track. Thalia has also teased through several posts what seems to be pictures on the set of the music video. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Mojito would be the opening track of desAMORfosis Related:
  9. Chilean artist Mon Laferte has released La Mujer in collaboration with Mexican diva Gloria Trevi, for her upcoming sixth studio album Seis. Mon Laferte wrote La Mujer about six years ago, though it was never officially released, and used to perform it live on her shows, until she decided not to anymore because she didn't like some of the lyrics, particularly the part that said "I am that woman of the overdose. I am that woman that you know so well". However, she decided to rework the track for the 2021 version, singing instead "I am that woman. I am your overdose. I am that woman that you know nothing about." Mon Laferte, 37, says she was inspired by Gloria when she was a little girl, and felt identified by her songs in the 90's, such as Con los Ojos Cerrados. She even used to impersonate Gloria at school events. In an interview for Billboard she says "it needed fresh air and I thought, I wanted to sing with another powerful woman and, well, the first one that came to mind was Gloria." Both songwriters reflect on the collaboration, noticing how it came to full circle when Gloria herself, who just turned 53 this year, also felt identified by Mon's song, confessing it describes her perfectly. Mon Laferte's album comes out tomorrow on digital platforms Related:
  10. Mexican singer Danna Paola released yesterday the music video for Amor Ordinario, the eighth single off her latest album K.O. The music video, which is currently #1 On Trending in Mexico, was shot in December at the Val'Quirico resort in the state of Tlaxcala, which was perfect for the theme of the video which takes place in the Medieval period. In the dramatic clip we see her suffer for the love of a man who is already with another girl, as she performs for them at a dinner. In the end she offers him a drink which has been poisoned with an unknown substance she keeps on a heart-shaped bottle necklace. She also drinks from this beverage and they both perish before the video finishes. During a livestream before the premiere of the video, Danna Paola confessed that Amor Ordinario (translated as Ordinary Love) is one of the most vulnerable songs off her album and it was perfect to be released around Valentine's. She'll be performing a virtual concert later today called Welcome to My Break up Party Related:
  11. After being trending topic on Twitter this week, Mexican singer Danna Paola released her sixth studio album Knockout (styled as K.O.) this Wednesday upon leaking online ahead of time. Following the trend of some artists of releasing most of the tracks before the album drops, Danna Paola included on the album six of the singles she released throughout 2020 plus five new songs. Today she released the seventh music video off this album titled Calla Tú (which roughly translates to 'You Shut Up'). The video, which was directed by Danna herself, was shot in one take and shows her with a nude suit that displays several pejorative words that are commonly used to insult women, written in italic fonts. In the end, these same words are displayed on the screen in a way that spells the phrase "TE AMO" (I love you). Calla Tú talks about ending an abusive relationship and she tells the man she's not waiting for him to change no more, she's fed up with his hypocrisy, and tells him "I won't keep quiet anymore, YOU shut up". She released a statement through her social media that reads: Her statement is relevant not only because of the message itself, but because over the years it's been speculated in the media that she suffered physical and psychological abuse from her ex-boyfriend, fellow Mexican actor Eleazar Gómez, who's 10 years older than her and with whom she had a relationship from 2010 to 2015. Eleazar Gómez is currently in jail waiting for a trial after he was accused by his latest girlfriend of physically abusing her a few months ago. After the news broke, several ex-girlfriends of Eleazar came out to speak about their own experiences of abuse with him, including one that had already spoken about it but was dismissed by the media as an attention-seeker at the time. The only one that had remained silent was precisely Danna Paola, until she released this song and statement, which fans and media alike took as a confirmation of the rumors that have been around for years. You can hear the full album here:
  12. 2020 was an unusually rough year that affected all of our lives at a global level. The music industry was one of the most impacted since artists make the most of their revenue out of concerts, which have been shut down due to the ongoing pandemic. However, many artists took this as an opportunity to release their music in more creative ways. Eventually, shooting music videos was allowed if the safety measures were taken, live streamed concerts became the trend, and somehow we were able to have new music throughout the year to make our lives a bit happier in these strange times. I want to make this thread to focus specifically in the work that Latin artists have done, mostly women (and mostly pop) so if you're not familiar with music in Spanish you may discover something interesting, and if you are, then let's appreciate together what 2020 has given us. It's the 90's all over again The Latin divas of the 90's kept us entertained throughout the year, and suddenly it didn't feel like almost three decades have passed since the days when they were the ones dominating the popularity lists. Shakira Shakira celebrated the 25th anniversary of her album Pies Descalzos in 2020, which despite being actually her third studio album, it's usually considered the first one since it's the one that actually catapulted her to stardom. On February 02,her 43rd birthday, she performed along with Jennifer Lopez at the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show Later in March she released the music video for the collaboration with Anuel AA, Me Gusta, which had been released in January. Before ending the year, she gave us a new viral Tik Tok dance in the music video of Black Eyed Peas' GIRL LIKE ME, as well as showing us her skateboarding abilities. But it wasn't all drought in the months in between, since she released a live performance of Antología from her latest live DVD released last year, and they also uploaded three music videos that were previously unavailable on her official YouTube channel. Thalia Thalia was one of the busiest though. She celebrated 30 years of solo career (she was previously part of the 80's band Timbiriche) and in 2020 she gave us collaborations as if her life depended on it and in May she released Viva Kids Vol. 2, her second album for kids. She started the year releasing Ya Tú Me Conoces in January, featuring Mau y Ricky. Then in February she collaborated with Río Roma on Lo Siento Mucho. It also had a mariachi version. Then in March she was featured on Pabllo Vittar's single Tímida In May is when we got the kids album, and she even released music videos for that one: Mi No Cumpleaños and Mis Tradiciones. She also participated in the mega collaboration organized by Sony Music Latin, a reimagined version of Diego Torres' Color Esperanza. Por Amor al Arte was released in June as the 8th single off her 2018 album Valiente. A lyric video was served for it. That month she also appeared on Leslie Shaw's Estoy Soltera along with Farina. In August she called Myke Towers to appear on her 2:02 minutes long La Luz, a reggaeton-pop club banger. In September, she appeared on another multi collaboration, this time David Guetta's Pa' la Cultura, a charity single released to support the immigrants affected due to COVID-19. Farina's Ten Cuidao featured Thalia in October. In the music video we see her as a queen and a gangster? This videoshoot also gave us her recreation of Britney's Oops!... I Did It Again. Later that month, we got her third collaboration with Farina, this time featuring Sofía Reyes too. TICK TOCK was the name of the song, and they released a Facebook video series to show the journey of releasing this track. In November she released her own rendition of José Feliciano's Christmas classic Feliz Navidad. But it doesn't stop there. Throughout the year she released the HD version of many of the videos she's put out throughout her career, such as Amor a la Mexicana (European Remix), Entre el Mar y una Estrella, Regresa a Mí, Me Pones **** (I Want You), Reencarnación, Cerca de Ti, Mariang Taga Barrio and María la del Barrio. She also released new lyric videos for old songs: Gloria Trevi With more than 30 years of career, she started in January with Grande, a song that features Mónica Naranjo, a Spanish singer that was very important in he 90's music scene. The empowerment anthem was dedicated to those that have suffered of bullying and humiliations throughout their life, especially the LGBTQ community which makes up most of the fanbase of both artists. After the lockdown, she was inspired to create a softer song, Demasiado Frágiles. She had to cancel the last dates of her tour due to the COVID pandemic, but fortunately she recorded a DVD last year of her shows in Mexico City. Diosa de la Noche: En Vivo desde la Arena Ciudad de México was released in August. Fun Fact: she's the biggest Mexican touring force in the world, and was named among the 50 highest-grossing female touring artists of the 21st century, above singers like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez or Avril Lavigne. In December she participated in a Christmas album Eterna Navidad, along with many other artists. In May she also participated in the Mexican version of Color Esperanza, which was a mashup with Sólo le Pido a Dios, and also featured Fey, our following artist. Fey La Reina de los 90s celebrated 25 years of career this year. Though she only released one single, a cover of a Paul Oakenfold song that had been released in 2016, retitled as The Perfect Song, she participated in several virtual concerts and performances throughout the year. She also broadcasted her 2018 Desnuda Tour as part of the 25th anniversary celebration. She also uploaded to her official channel a couple of missing videos from her 2004 Mecano tribute, La Fuerza del Destino. Lynda Thomas Lynda, who started in the 90s along with Fey and Shakira, but retired in 2002, gave us a couple of gifts too. Since her "comeback" in 2018, she's released a few sparse singles, and this year she released Bien, a jolly, winter-y, not-a-ballad,-not-yet-a-Christmas song, She also recreated her 1999 hit Corazón Perdido, as a more stripped-down, acoustic version. Litzy An unexpected comeback to music was that of Litzy. She started in the kids group Jeans in he 90's, recording only one album with he band before starting a solo career. She released three albums and then focused on acting, having a very successful career. In 2017 she joined the 90's Pop Tour along with Fey and many other representative artists of the decade, but her formal comeback was this year with a live concert Vuelta en U. No Hay Palabras features another 90's icon, Lidia Ávila, member of OV7. She even made a cover of Alicia Keys' No One Paulina Rubio Paulina Rubio was probably the least active, though she did participate in some livestreamed transmissions. In March she appeared as a featured artist on Raymix's Tú y Yo Paulina's plans for 2020 were shut down even before the pandemic. Just like Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin were supposed to embark on a joint tour this year (which has since been postponed for next year) Paulina was supposed to collaborate in a tour with Mexican singer Alejandra Guzmán, another diva of the 90's. Everything was ready to be announced and the rumors were stronger than anything. The expectations were high, because the two singers were once rivals in the beginning of the 90's, being involved in a love triangle with fellow Mexican artist Erik Rubín. They even recorded a song together, a cover from the 80's classic Ni Tú Ni Nadie, and the video eventually leaked, though in low quality. They never confirmed the reasons why the tour and single were cancelled, but rumor has it that Paulina's lack of punctuality to the video shoot was enough for Alejandra to quit the project. I'm still waiting for the HD version So this is just the beginning, there's still many other artists we need to talk about, such as Danna Paola, Farina, Aitana, RBD, Reik, Paty Cantú, etc, but I hope other Exhalers help me with that Meanwhile, here's a Spotify playlist with some of the songs I could gather, but we can always make it bigger
  13. Mexico and Colombia join forces in this new track TICK TOCK by pop diva Thalia featuring Sofía Reyes and Farina. The three singers have been releasing a series of episodes through Thalia's Facebook page, called Latin Queens where they showed their journey in recording this song. Today they finally premiered the music video where we see them as cowgirls dancing in different scenarios with lots of colors and lights as they sing to a man to better take advantage before the time runs out, as the clock goes TOCK - TICK - TOCK - TICK Watch it here: Related:
  14. On October 9, 1990, Mexican singer Thalía released her first album, called Thalía too (it would be the first of three homonym albums ). After being part of the most successful pop band in Mexico at the time, Timbiriche, from 1987 to 1989, she decided to leave the band and move the United States to study at the UCLA. She learned English, besides taking dance, singing and acting classes. She returned to Mexico to record her first LP produced Alfredo Díaz Ordaz whom she would later become romantically involved. The album sold over 200K copies in Mexico, and she's released 15 other albums ever since, as well as several compilations, live albums and EP's. 4 singles were released to promote the album: Un Pacto Entre los Dos, Saliva, Amarillo Azul and Pienso en Ti. Sadly, her first three records are very hard to find on digital platforms due to problems with the record label. She also had an acting career from the late 80s until 2000, and she was known as the Queen of Telenovelas in Mexico. Her music style has changed a lot over the years, and she continues very active to this day. Just yesterday she released her latest single, a collaboration with Colombian artist Farina. Related:
