  1. Released on Friday, October 07 2022, which is 25 years to the exact date The original album was released in the US in cassette and Compact Disc via Virgin Records America, Inc on October 07,1997. It was her first release of a record breaking renewal with Virgin Records for 80 Million, the highest recording contract with a female artist, only to be surpassed by Mariah Carey in 2001, which unfortunately led to Media putting Mariah Carey against Janet Jackson cos Virgin offered Mariah Carey 100 million, a contract that would lead to Virgin and EMI sadly going into financial ruin, to where it's now part of universal music group, all because of that signing. And then both surpassed by Madonna's deal With live nation for 120 Million for 3 albums in 2007. Velvet rope was critically acclaimed, for it's subject matter, but just like her brother Michael Jackson, she was criticized for taking advantage of the 80 Minutes CD time by taking the entire time length, if there has been a big criticism is the usage of interludes and Janet Jackson is the queen of them. Rhythm nation and Janet, actually put interlude, song, interlude to the point people complained. Janet had 13 interludes to 14 songs to make 27 tracks.. Rhythm nation out of the 20 tracks 8 were interludes, to the 12 songs. The velvet rope being 22 Tracks 7 interludes, to 15 songs, so she started to decrease the interludes on this album. The velvet rope has been expanded in a 38 track album featuring b side Accept me, the hidden track Can't be stopped, and the Japanese track God's Stepchild.. Then you get 13 remixes. The R&B mixes come Courtesy of Timbaland and Missy Elliott,Teddy Riley, The ummah and of course her producers Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis.. The club mixes come from The hottest DJ's from new York clubs Tony Moran, David Morales,,Masters at Work, Tony Humphries, Jason Nevins and Armand Van Helden. Plus a cool Disco Remix of Every time, by Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis. The album is 7 Minutes short of 3 Hours, the remixes go 11 Minutes long, so Radio edits are not here. This is the highly sought Club mixes from the 12" Vinyls and promo Club vinyls. The reason why veterans are doing these releases is the money is actually in these editions, very easy for a record label to market a catalog title vs. losing money on a new album that isn't gonna do a really good long run on the charts. @Jordan Miller @princessmimi @Brat
  2. Tomorrow marks the 33rd anniversary of Janet Jackson's 'Rhythm Nation 1814' and I’d like to share my love for this album with you. Released in 1989, Jackson's groundbreaking album is just as timely today as it was when it was released three decades ago. The concept of the songs are a response to various tragedies in the media that is why it is a unique and powerful album. The album served compelling music videos and bold (now iconic) choreography which are considered the blueprint of today’s most influential pop artists, Britney Spears and Beyoncé. Which one of the singles is your favorite? I’d like to mention the singles had massive commercial success all over the world, especially in the Billboard Hot 100 US. Miss You Much #1 (4 weeks) Escapade #1 (3 weeks) Black Cat #1 (1 week) Love WIll Never Do (Without You) #1 (1 week) Rhythm Nation #2 Come Back to Me #2 Alright #4
  3. Who’s the mother of pop music? They both started in 1982 (Janet had been on stage with the Jackson’s however became a solo artist in 1982)
  4. Congrats to Janet Damita Jo Jackson, universal music Japan. Released a very limited edition comprehensive greatest hits double CD and DVD.. If you go to CD Japan, this is the ultimate best of. Minus unbreakable, this release covers the ten studio albums that they own (universal bought EMI recordings division back in 2012, got Virgin Records making her whole catalog under major labels completely theirs) From 1982's Bubble gum R&B Janet Jackson, to the underrated 2008's Electropop, that came before The Fame got the credit cos the industry at that time denied her impact "Discipline" it's all there in this new technology exclusive for Japan since they refuse to stream SHMCD, plus a dvd containing all the video's including her first music video ever 1984's Dream street. This is all part of a Universal Japan plan to celebrate her 40th anniversary since she was a hit there right from the start of her career. Allegedly an abridged version will come in 2026, when control turns 40 making it global then as that was breakthrough worldwide outside of Japan.. As for why no Blu ray well just like the audio, a huge fire in universal lot in California, made Janet Jackson lose her master's, thus without the main source, it's completely impossible to actually do it within the analog films.. But congrats JANET on your success with a regional locked limited edition release. Side note DVD is coded region 2. The top 3 is Janet Jackson and Madonna, proving the blueprint is here to stay despite what the "kids" say.. @Jordan Miller @i sometimes sing live @Brat
