  1. Disclaimer: the official website and most sources claim December 26 as the date of release of the Not a Girl music video, usually claiming it premiered along with the Making the Video episode, yet the Making the Video archived website says the episode premiered on December 17. On December 26, 2001, the I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman music video premiered. It was directed by Wayne Isham and it was filmed in August of that year in Arizona and Utah. It features different shots of Britney standing on a cliff in the desert, as well as other scenes inside a slot canyon. 3 different versions of the video exist, two of which feature footage from the Crossroads movie, as well as scenes of Briney in a red bedroom, driving a car and we also see her by a campfire. In 2009, MTV published an article about the videoclip prior to the release of The Singles Collection. In 2003 the video won the category "International Music Video of the Year Short-Form" at the Japan Gold Disc Awards. It appeared at #71 on the 2002 Top 100 of MTV Latin America. In 2013, in the show Would You Rather? Britney was asked to pick in which dangerous location would she rather be stranded, a shark-infested pool from the Work ***** video or standing on the edge of Grand Canyon. She picked the Grand Canyon. I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman was the second video released in the United States, but the rest of the world got Overprotected instead. In 2002 it would be released internationally, while the US got Overprotected (Darkchild Remix). The official single was released in February 2002. Making the Video:
  2. Disclaimer: This might be one of the most confusing release dates to track. Unlike Born to Make You Happy which had a very concise release, Overprotected, an international single, seemed to have had very different release dates across the world, both the single and the music video. If you go to the English Wikipedia page, the earliest release they show is December 12 in Japan. If you go to the Spanish Wikipedia, which has the "good article badge", it shows December 18. Yet it seems in Australia they got it even earlier, on December 08. The official Britney Spears website doesn't mention it and other sources I've quoted before, such as this list made by britney.com blogger BRITannica, either. Then when it comes to the video, it's missing concrete sources as well. I'm creating this thread today, because the earliest confirmation I could find was this entry (9th post from the bottom to the top) on worldofbritney.com that reveals the music video was premiered in Latin America on December 20, 2001. Yet on ukmix, there's a comment that says they've already seen the video by December 15, and even worldofbritney has the screencaps of it. This other thread may confirm they had it in "Holland" around those days. So if you know a concrete date for the release of the single or the video, please share What we know for sure is that on December 2001, Britney Spears released Overprotected as the second single off her third studio album Britney. In Europe it was released on January 2002. This single was released internationally, while on the United States they got I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman (whose release date is also another story ). For the third single they would switch, thus the US getting Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) and the rest of the world getting Not a Girl. These entries were supposed to be created by our very own @Roxxy so here I'll quote her comments on the calendar page: Written and produced by Max Martin and Rami, Overprotected stands as one of only five Britney songs to be nominated for a Grammy. In 2003, it was up for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance - her third and final nomination in the category. Overprotected was a Top 10 hit in 13 countries including #4 in the UK and #1 in Poland, ultimately peaking at #8 on the European Hot 100. The Darkchild Remix peaked at #86 on the US Hot 100 and #22 on the Canadian Hot 100. Overprotected is a global Top 10 peaking at #6 on the United World Chart dated March 9, 2002. It spent 14 weeks in the chart. The music video was directed by Billie Woodruff (who directed Born to Make You Happy two years before) and choreographed by @BrianFriedman More roxxy comments: The Billie Woodruff video features an intro using another track from the album, Bombastic Love. TRIVIA TIME! The Overprotected music video stands tall as the only one in her videography to feature two songs from her catalog. Not only that, the music video also takes pride in the fact that it is the only one to have it's own follow-up via the release of the Darkchild Remix music video. It's so good that they had to release two official versions, each with their own music video. I mean, how cool is that? Your faves could never, honestly. Don't even try to come for Godprotected. The opening scene, which plays Bombastic Love in the background, shows Britney opening a door and right outside is a swarm of paparazzi waiting for her as she makes her way to her car and drives off. She stops by an abandoned warehouse where she reflects on being 'overprotected' - and in true Britney fashion, she feels herself on some of the furniture. She is also shown sitting on a horse from a carousel because she needs 'joy'. Soon after, her dancers arrive and they do one of her best dance breaks eveeer. After she goes ACTION! is where the song takes you to a high as it goes into a crescendo towards the final chorus and features this iconic scene where Britney literally needs her 'space' with the walls closing in on her with the phrases 'Britney Mania!' 'Girl of the Year' 'Album Goes Double Platinum' 'There Is No Stopping Her!' 'WORLD TOUR SELLS OUT!' Never has a Britney Spears music video been so self aware and so proud of herself, her sales, and her achievements - and this is coming from one of the most humble pop girls in history. Which is why the original Overprotected music video should be a celebrated gem in her videography. This is one of the rare moments where Britney acknowledges that she is indeed 100% that girl. Btw, I always mention her appearances on the MTV Latin America yearly Top 100, but this video was her very first huge snub. It didn't make the list in 2001 because it was released almost at the end of the year, but it totally deserved to appear in 2002, when it really became a hit. However, the video didn't appear at any position at all, infuriating all the fans who voted it throughout the year on the weekly Top 10 and Top 20.
  3. In an era where Madonna, Janet, Paula Abdul, and Britney brought technical dance into the Pop Music world, I have a question. We have a current batch of Pop Girls: Miley, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Doja Cat, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and so many more; do you think dance pop is dead? Most of these girls credit Britney as an influence. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Doja Cat have tried to bring it back, but it never connected with the GP the way they wanted it to...and they all (MINUS Doja) abandoned choreo. Is this dead in the female pop world or are we just waiting for the new dance betch to make it relevant again? (Performances are time stamped for their most choreo bits)** Ladies and Gentlemen...The Queen
  4. Madonna has reportedly been one of Britney's biggest supporters behind-the-scenes leading up to Britney's big court date. “Madonna has always had a soft spot for Britney and couldn’t sit idly by when she felt that there were clear injustices going on,” a source tells Page Six. Although the judge terminated the conservatorship, Madonna still plans to keep fighting for Brit. “Madonna is waging war. She is hellbent on righting the wrongs that Britney had to endure. She has offered to help in any way that she can and is not afraid to speak up or intervene if needed.” Madonna recently showed public support for her famous friend. “Give this woman her life back,” she rote on Instagram. “Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries. This is a violation of human rights!” Madonna also recently said she “can’t wait to spend time” with Britney again. “I’m really happy for her,” she told “Extra” in September. “I adore her.”
  5. Released November 12, 2003
  6. On November 03, 2001, MTV aired a special variation of their TRL show called Total Britney Live to promote the upcoming release of Britney's self-titled album.
  7. Hi Exhale! It's me again for a very special Roxxy Edition of This Day in Pop! 💛💜 Thank you @PokemonSpears for always considering me to do these threads! Let's get to it? 20 years ago today, Britney COMPLETED the first ever trinity with the release of her record setting third studio album titled BRITNEY. According to her, she picked this title because "it's more me" and did she lie? RELEASE HISTORY Japan: October 31st, 2001 Europe: November 5, 2001 United States and Canada: November 6, 2001 ALL YOU PEOPLE LOOK AT ME LIKE I'M A LITTLE GIRL, WELL, DID YOU EVER THINK IT'D BE OK FOR ME TO STEP INTO THIS WORLD? Never has a Britney record been so bipolar. The record is a mix of sultry smexy R&B bops via lead single I'm a Slave 4 U and underrated disco pop gems like Anticipating. The album pretty much switches from smexy and sweet, and then have edgy and emotional moments. The record truly reflects BRITNEY SPEARS, Pop Princess, at her core... bad girl, good girl. The album is a transitional record for Britney. It's the first record she made where she co-wrote more than half of the album. At the time, she said that she is truly proud of this record because she had a lot more creative control than with her previous two records. We all know, B2 was just handed to her and recorded in 2 weeks and it went by that fast, she didn't have time to really pick the songs. The album also was her first record to feature an adult sound and image with the lead single and Boys. The album's mission statement: "i'm not a girl, not yet a woman" That's track 4 for all you basic bieches. FIRST FEMALE ARTIST IN SOUNDSCAN HISTORY TO HAVE HER FIRST 3 ALBUMS DEBUT AT #1 The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with 745,750 copies sold on it's first week in the US. This also earned her the second highest debut sales for an album in 2001, behind *NSYNC's Celebrity. The album also went to #1 in Canada, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. TASTE! The album has accumulated sales of 10.2 million worldwide. When will your faves. The record also earned her two (2) Grammy Nominations in 2002 Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Overprotected Best Pop Vocal Album It is her last LP to be nominated for a Grammy. In 2019, the album was first released as vinyl exclusive to Urban Outfitters, and in 2020 it got re-released by the same store in cassette format.
  8. Hi everyone! As someone who was born in 2000, I never got to see Britney in her prime. To those who brought the BOMT CD when it was released, what color of the CD and flower did you get and what state/city you were in? I want to buy her CD for my collection and I live in the USA. Let me know thanks :)
  9. On November 1, 2001, Britney Spears' Dream Within a Dream Tour kicked off at the Nationwide Arena in Ohio. It was launched to support her third studio album Britney and it lasted until July 2002, after 69 shows across the United States, Canada, Japan and Mexico. It was promoted by Concerts West, marking the first time a tour of hers was not promoted by Clear Channel Entertainment. It was directed and choreographed by Wade Robson, with Steve Cohen and Rob Brenner designing the stage. The setlist was composed by songs from her first three records, mainly from Britney. Oops!... I Did It Again (You Drive Me) Crazy Overprotected Born to Make You Happy Lucky Sometimes Boys Stronger I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman I Love Rock 'n' Roll What It's Like to Be Me Lonely Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know Anticipating I'm a Slave 4 U ...Baby One More Time Some unreleased songs were also performed at selected dates: Mystic Man, Weakness, You Were My Home and My Love Was Always There. Some of the October dates had to be pushed back to December due to Britney having the flu, and the last show of the tour at Foro Sol in Mexico, had to be cancelled mid-show because of a thunderstorm that was occurring. The November 18th show at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, was broadcasted by HBO and later released as a DVD titled Britney: Live from Las Vegas in January 2002. A book and DVD chronicling her stay in Mexico was also released in December 2002, titled Stages: Three Days in Mexico. With more than 1 million in attendance, the tour grossed a total of $56.8 million which would be equivalent to $83.4 million in 2020. Related:
  10. Bombastic Love was robbed of being a single No I wasn't here for the 30 second preview in the Overprotected video. We deserved a great video for this Bubblegum Pop masterpiece. Who else stans the best song off "Britney"?
  11. I did this photo shoot two years ago inspired by Britney's at home fashion shows and photo shoots. Used it recently for my new single Center Stage Post your At Home Photo sessions! Let's be real... Britney started yet another trend in Pop culture. Everyone does it now. I see you Beyoncé
  12. Here you can find the other two posts regarding the previous albums. Voting will be closed when I finish all the albums
  13. Monday October 18, 2021 7am PT It's time, girl. I've wanted to do this thread for quite some time but was wanting to mentally prepare myself for the dragging and the shade reign But I'm not holding back anything in this new Center Stage era of life. So here goes.... I've told my friends, my homies and family that Britney Jean remains one of my favorite Britney records. I have not shared this opinion on Exhale before. I'm ready to be dragged. For me it does feel like a personal record with songs like Passenger, Now That I Found You, Don't Cry, Hold on Tight, Brightest Morning Star, Til It's Gone, Perfume... Hello?? Don't y'all see the lyrics? Yes there is flaws like the vocals on Passenger sound more like Myah than Britney. which sux because Passenger could have been one of my favorites especially since Diplo produced it and he's one of my fave producers and DJs. More flaws include It Should Be Easy which should have not had robotic vocals that's my only argument other than that it's a fun song and the production was very Las Vegas sounding. Then we got THIS iconic music video that will go down in Britney HERstory! I mean I know this probably wasn't one of Britney's favorite videos at the time because of the ***iness (that was her "I'm a Mom" era, before she accepted her ***ual freedom of expression like she does now via nude IG posts) I personally loved the Perfume video and single. It's honestly so underrated Then we got this beautiful performance from POM Plus I'm hella pressed that we did not get more singles. Despite many views amongst Britney Army worldwide, there are many songs that could have skyrocketed the charts. Til It's Gone, Now That I Found You, Don't Cry, Body Ache, Tik Tik Boom and Alien could have all been singles! Just so many bops! Yes like I said it has its flaws and compared to Britney's other work it doesn't come close to that but if you listen to it maybe as an EP or a mixtape you might appreciate it more. I feel some of the production aged well in this record as well. Thoughts? Me jamming to Work Bxxch @rennen @MikeHunt @BritneyLVR @DJBringItBack @Kevney @I Always Sing Live @Jordan Miller @Style.
  14. I never wore any Britney’s fragrance before, but I really decided to give it a try so which is the best smelling one in your opinion? The @MidnightFantasy bottle it’s really cute and provocative.
  15. Madonna opened the 40th anniversary 2021 VMA's and with an introduction that STOLE.THE.SHOW. The ceremony led with a historic intro laying out her career and it's alignment with MTV. Then surprised the entire venue with her presence. An immediate standing ovation and roaring applause ushered in the Queen of Pop! First appearing in a sophisticated trench coat, which soon led the controversial artist to strip out of her coat to reveal a se.xy leather outfit. After she opened the show, she turned around to reveal a plump apple bottom bum! The Queen of Pop always leaves an audience stunned! Madonna is just THAT B.ITCH! We Stan! Ageist to the left, to the left!

Hi everyone! some of you may have seen me on here posting somewhat iconic threads while other threads of mine flop harder than the album Lotus I have been using Exhale for sooo long and I’ve always had so much respect for this place. I love that it’s a community for all Britney fans and I love that we are all different. We all have our thoughts and opinions but in the end, our love and protection over Britney is as one. We literally started a movement that began the process to free her and regain control to her life! It’s so much fun coming on here and seeing the updates, the conversations and to be honest some of ya’ll are just too funny and post the funniest stuff! It makes my whole day some days. The mods are also doing a good job at keeping this place running smoothly and positively! Britney is so close to her next court date, it’s only natural to be nervous for her or to be suspicious of someone and want the best for her. Let’s just remember to think of Britney and know that she’s so smart and she’s not letting anyone take control of her life again. I think we all just need to trust the queen and remain positive I hope everyone has a wonderful day/night and just know to never take me or my comments too seriously and that I only want what’s best for Britney!
  17. Aaliyah’s self titled album is available to stream today for the first time EVER since it’s original release 20 years years ago!! Much of the recording for this album was spread out between 1998-2001, and would serve as Aaliyah’s final album. It was heavily written and produced by Static Major. timbaland would join on for the final tracks. A song produced by Missy Elliot, I Care 4 U, is also on the record and was originally recorded in 1996. Here are my favourite songs: About a month and a half after the original release in 2001, Aaliyah died on August 25th in a tragic plane crash. billboards around NYC, LA, and Detroit, and Tokyo have appeared promoting the album! I recently created an hour long documentary which took me about a year to make. It details the reasons for why you couldn’t stream aaliyahs music, and the impact this has had on her legacy for future generations of music listeners. It includes back to back interviews (with a cameo from various stars at the time including Britney), along with a backdrop detailing the political landscape/world and how music consumption has also changed. I’d really appreciate if you could check it out ✨🤍 @PokemonSpears @Midnight @Jordan Miller @SlayOut @SUCCESSICA IS A QUEEN @boyinthemirror

  21. REUPLOADED @Jordan Miller @Urbanney @SlayOut @SUCCESSICA IS A QUEEN @Blackout @princessmimi @Midnight Hi everyone! Rik here. Over the last year I have really developed a liking for YouTube videos and documentaries specifically. I used to really enjoy making videos and for the first time in ages, I’ve dedicated much of my time to creating a video on Free Britney, and more recently a video on Aaliyah and her legacy. Even if you aren’t familiar with her, this video will explain why it is and showcase various clips from her life. I also interviewed several fans that grew up listening to her music to truly tell her story as authentically as possible. I was initially in talks to include an author of a very popular Aaliyah novel that recently came out, however things fell through for that. i know you guys are used to me trolling on here but I’d sincerely appreciate if you could all check my documentary out. Due to copyright ive had to make some changes (particularly at the end with explaining the Drake album and Missy/Timbaland drama from back in 2012). I also explain who owns Aaliyah’s name, get into the dispute between her estate (CMG worldwide on behalf of her brother Rashad and mother Diane), and Blackground 2.0 run by her uncle. I also explore how music consumption has changed and how not having Aaliyah’s music on streaming platforms has impacted her legacy. There’s also references to current events that occurred around this time, and for that reason includes footage from 9/11, Total Request Live, Park 106, and the 2001 VMAs. Britney makes a few cameos herself in this! I’m very excited to share you my labour of love, AALIYAH IS COMING: A Legacy Revived, out on YouTube now. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Very special thank you to people who contributed their voices for the interviews! @Malibu.D.Luxx @ohoneey @PokemonSpears @I Always Sing Live @Isla @Urbanney @Lyndsay Luxury @SUCCESSICA IS A QUEEN @SlayOut @Midnight @Blackout2006 @JoJo Online@Jordan Miller @CrazyButItFeelsAllright@ohoney @Slayer @Prachi @princessmimi @dfffff @HardToForgetYa
