  1. On May 08, 2002, Britney Spears released the PlayStation 2 version of Britney's Dance Beat, which had been previously released for the Game Boy Advance in March. The PC version would be released on June 19 that year. The PS2 version is an enhanced experience in every way from its predecessor, from the graphics, to the quality of the music, and the gameplay mechanics. It also contains footage from her music videos and voice acting provided by Britney herself. It was also the best rated out of the three versions, with 63.29% on GameRankings and 63/100 on Metacritic. Story-wise, the goal of the game was also modified. As opposed to the GBA version where you had to help Britney prepare for her tour, it was now the player the one that was auditioning to become her backup dancer, having to defeat several other aspirants. The blurb read: She's young, beautiful and talented. Her dance moves are as hot as her songs. But only the best dancers can join Britney Spears on her world tour. See if you have what it takes to back her up! Featuring Britney Spears, realistically transformed into 3D Choose from a variety of dancers to represent your skills Groove to Britney's hottest songs like "...Baby One More Time" and "I'm a Slave 4 U" Unlock exclusive Britney concert videos and 360º immersive videos that let you control the camera Compete in single and multi-player dance competitions Just like the GBA game, the songs featured on this one were ...Baby One More Time, Oops!... I Did It Again, Stronger, Overprotected and I'm a Slave 4 U. Related:
  2. On July 29, 2002, Britney Spears released Boys as the sixth and last single off her album Britney. The single was different from the album version though, it was the Co-Ed Remix, which featured Pharrell Williams from N.E.R.D (who was also co-producer of the song). This version was also featured on the soundtrack of the movie Austin Powers in Goldmember, along with Beyoncé's debut solo single Work It Out. The music video for the song was actually released the month prior, on June 17 It was directed by Dave Meyers who had worked with her on the Lucky video in 2000, and who she would work again with on the scrapped Outrageous and Radar in 2009. The video has cameo appearances from Mike Myers as Austin Powers, as well as DJ Qualls, Jason Priestley, Justin Bruening and Taye Diggs. It was nominated at the VMAS 2003 for Best Video from a Film, losing to Eminem's Lose Yourself. It also landed at #18 on the annual Top 100 that MTV Latin America used to do, in 2002. Britney Spears has performed the song in almost all of her tours ever since it came out (only absent on The M+M's Tour) and it was even part of the promotion of the In the Zone album in 2003, as part of a medley with I'm a Slave 4 U. Sometimes it's been the album version, other times the Co-Ed Remix, a mixture of the two, or a remix of either version.
  3. On July 26, 2002, Austin Powers in Goldmember movie was released in the United States, a spy action comedy film starred by Mike Myers, who also co-wrote the movie with Michael McCullers. Other artists that appear in the movie are Beyoncé, Robert Wagner, Seth Green and Verne Troyer. The movie also has several cameos, from Britney Spears, to Tom Cruise, Danny DeVito, John Travolta, The Osbournes, among others. Two singles were released from the soundtrack of the movie: Beyoncé's Work It Out, released in June that year, and Britney Spears' Boys ft. Pharrell Williams, released a few days after the release of the movie, and the video of which also features Mike Myers.
  4. On June 17, 2002, Britney Spears released the Boys (Co-Ed Remix) video featuring Pharrell Williams. Boys would later be released as the last single (in most regions) off her third studio album Britney, and it was also included in the soundtrack album Austin Powers in Goldmember: Music from the Motion Picture. The video was directed by Dave Meyers, who had previously directed Lucky in 2000. Besides Pharrell Williams who's featured on the remix, in the video Mike Myers also guest stars as Austin Powers, and additional cameos by DJ Qualls, Jason Priestly, Justin Bruening and Taye Diggs can be seen throughout the video. Boys was nominated at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Video from a Film, but lost to Eminem's Lose Yourself. It landed on MTV Latin America's Top 100 of 2002 at #18.
  5. On April 18, 2000, Britney Spears appeared on VIVA Interaktiv, a German TV Show. She performed Oops!... I Did It Again. 6. On March 26, 2002 Britney Spears released the Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) music video. The album version of the song had already been released outside of the US as the second single off her album Britney in late 2001, while the US got I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman. In early 2002, the singles were released in the opposite regions, but the remix produced by Rodney Jerkins, and described by him as "having an old-school-type rhythm", was the one sent to the American radio stations instead, on April 1st. The music video was shot at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, the first weekend of March. Chris Applebaum directed it and it was produced under A Band Apart Productions (which also produced Oops!... I Did It Again). According to Applebaum, Britney herself came up with the concept of the video and admired her impressive stamina after a marathon shoot of 23 hours that wrapped up at 5:00 AM on Monday. He also said that "the shoot went so smoothly, the most derailing obstacle was less-than-scrumptious catering". Brian Friedman was in charge of the choreography. In 2017, Chris Applebaum shared a clip of the video on his Instagram, revealing he prepped the video while on an IV drip at the hospital due to a stomach ailment, and that production designer Shel Greb drew art sketches for the sets, sitting in the chair by his bed. Joe D'Angelo from MTV News considered that the Darkchild Remix video "furthers her "I'm Not a Girl" crusade to shirk her adolescent image": The videoclip starts with Britney and her friends at a hotel room, where they're watching a reporter on the TV criticizing Britney's revealing outfits. Britney turns off the TV and convinces her friends to go outside, tricking the security guard that was watching her door to leave after calling him on the phone, disguising her voice with a towel. We then see them walking through the hallway of the hotel, in a shot that resembles Janet Jackson's Son of a Gun video, which was released a few months earlier and that was also filmed at the same hotel. A group of guys arrives at the hotel, and Britney and her pals steal their car which was parked at the entrance. Her friends are driving her to some place, when they push a button that turns the car into a limo with a dancefloor and a DJ turntable. After that, we see them back at the hotel, this time with a different outfit, for the dance break of the song. In the end we see the group of girls sneaking through an alley to get to the "Sugardawg", but they get caught by a sudden rain before they make it. They perform there the final part of the choreography, as the paparazzi that were waiting at the entrance of the club notice them, and the video finishes with now the picture of a wet Britney making the news with the same TV news reporter from the beginning. We also see some intercalated shots of Britney wearing a lime green dress, dancing by herself, throughout the videoclip. The Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) remains the only official video of Britney (not counting alternative cuts) that hasn't been uploaded to her official YouTube channel since its creation in 2009.
  7. On March 25, 2002 Britney's Dance Beat was released for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. The music video game was developed by THQ and it featured Britney Spears' music. The plot of the game was to help Britney perfect her moves as she prepared for her world tour. The gameplay was similar to that of Dance Dance Revolution and other games of the same style, where you have to press the buttons shown at the screen to the beat of the song, getting a different grade depending of how precise your movements were. The songs featured on the game were ...Baby One More Time, Oops!... I Did It Again, Stronger, Overprotected and I'm a Slave 4 U. The blurb read: Help Britney get ready for her upcoming tour! Britney's about to embark on her latest world tour, but needs to perfect her dance moves first. Help Britney by keeping her in sync to her hottest songs. Collect tour photos or face-off in 2-player mode. Either way, Britney needs you to make her tour a success! See Britney perform her famous moves Keep rhythm to your favorite Britney songs Collect tour photos and puzzles Dance head-to-head with the Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable In other regions, the game received a different cover with a picture of Britney: The game received mixed to bad reviews from the critics, mainly because of its short length, the simplistic gameplay mechanics, bad graphics and the poor quality of the music due to the limitations of the GBA. However, a different version of the game, with better visuals and audio was released for the PlayStation 2 and PC a couple of months later, this time the narrative being that the player had to audition and compete with other dancers to join Britney on her tour, but we'll commemorate that anniversary later.

Max Martin and Rami Yacoub wrote and produced the song, along with additional writing from Dido. The single also served as promotion for her movie Crossroads. The song didn't perform well in the US, only reaching the #2 on the Bubbling Under chart, but it reached Top 10 in many European charts. Recorded on June 20, 2001, we were able to see a little bit from the recording session on MTV's Diary of Britney Spears: Britney said: "The song is called 'Not a Girl' and it's basically talking about, you know, I'm not a girl, but I'm not yet a woman. You're just in that transitional stage in your life where you're just figuring yourself out, and something that I can definitely relate to". Britney also explained the song was talking about growing up, and that it was going more towards her character Lucy, though she could kinda relate to that too. The only tour where Britney performed the song was the Dream Within a Dream Tour, but she performed the song live on many TV shows and awards shows too. 13. On February 03, 2002, during the Super Bowl XXXVI, Britney Spears' commercial for Pepsi titled Now and Then (or also known as Pepsi Generations) was first aired during the first quarter of the game. It features Britney in different eras of pop culture, from the 1950s through to the 1980s, and then jumps to the 2000's with an updated version of the Joy of Pepsi song. It was created by BBDO New York, Pepsi's long-standing advertising agency. Through Yahoo!, web users were able to choose their favorite "generation" from the first ad, and it was turned into a 30 seconds isolated ad, which aired during the fourth quarter of the game.
