  • Britney Spears Launches New Fragrance: ‘Glitter Fantasy’

The princess of pop’s perfume empire expands.

Britney Spears is reportedly taking 2020 to focus on regaining control over her personal life, but the Britney Brand is still producing products for purchase. Every six months or so, the pop star’s company releases a new perfume. The latest is Glitter Fantasy: a spin-off of Fantasy. It’ll reportedly debut worldwide this month or early February, though some fans were able to get their hands on it already.

Fragrantica.com has it up for sale. It’s unclear if Glitter Fantasy will be made available for purchase in the US.

"This sparkling scent glimmers with twists of sophistication," reads a note from the perfume brand. "Flirtatious red fruits mingle with a radiant floral bouquet. Seductive woods and enveloping musks glisten for a moment of surprise and delight."

A reviewer of the fragrance says it smells like Red Berry Melody, Red Plum, pink Puff Violet Accord, Lotus Blossom, Heliotrope, Musks, Agarwood and Benzoin Resinoid.

There’s also a rumored promotional composite photo of Britney, though no one can confirm if it’s official or not. However, the photo in the header of this post is official.

The marketing team in charge of Britney Spears’ fragrance empire deserves a raise, because they’re relentless. The Fantasy fragrance line has 18 versions now. They include Fantasy, Midnight Fantasy, Hidden Fantasy, Circus Fantasy, Fantasy Twist, Island Fantasy, Fantasy Anniversary Edition, Fantasy The Nice Remix, Fantasy The Naughty Remix, Fantasy Stage Edition, Rocker Femme Fantasy, Fantasy Renner Edition, Fantasy Intimate Edition, Maui Fantasy, In Bloom Fantasy, Sunset Fantasy, Fantasy Pride Edition and now Glitter Fantasy.

    Are YOU buying Glitter Fantasy?

I really don't get how fans could think that the photo is fake and it's not her when one look at it, like seriously any fan would know with just one look that it's an outtake from the Rainbow Fantasy promo pictures. Just look at her dress. :likethat:

maybe bc only things that common in those pics is sparkling outfit. and i am not even sure it is the same dress.   it's not her lips or teeth. if they wouldn't write that is Britney i wouldn't even recognize who is that girl. probably they had pieces from different pictures. and that is why it's just awful. they don't even have to have her picture anymore. they just use old ones and make new one. and then sell it like no1 really cares. and it's disturbing. they r definetely on the run for money but r they so desperate...idk

Oh sweetie. Just because i said it's obviously her in the picture, it don't mean i think she's behind Glitter Fantasy or is even aware of it. 🙃 1.) I know it's photoshopped or retouched or whatever. 2.) I know that this is a cash grab. 3.) i know she isn't aware of this product. 4.) I know they took an old photo and reused it like what they did with the Femme Fatale outtakes. I'm just saying, that it's her on the photo. It's really not that hard. You don't have to overanalyze or explain it to me. :)

I have a question, though... Besides the Fantasy editions in which the only thing different is a variation in the bottle design for an anniversary or whatever, don't all these perfumes smell DIFFERENTLY? If so, shouldn't they be a totally different fragrance? My question is, why do they keep the "Fantasy" name? I've never bought nor smelled any of them (!!) because they are extremely expensive for me, and they aren't even sold in my country. Please tell me they share something in common, something strong enough to keep them within that brand, because if it's just because they don't have to come up with a new name and bottle design then I'll get mad... Though they do come with a new perfume with a new name from time to time? Ugh I don't understand this commercial roll-out.

Because it’s cheaper to release it as a flanker. A lot of perfume companies do this. When they release a new fragrance, they have to register new trademarks, licensings, copyrights, on top of going through product design and picking out scents, they can cut the work load by half if they release a new scent as a flanker so they don’t have to go through registering new trademarks because technically the new one falls under the original. Also people will naturally buy the new flanker because they are familiar with the first one. It’s the same thing movie sequels, it sells with minimal effort.

ugh that's exactly what I was fearing...
Have you tried her perfumes? Could you say that all or at least most of the Fantasy perfumes somehow have something in common, apart from the shape of the bottle? Or are they definitely different fragrances for sure?

I’m a guy so I buy her perfumes as a fan and I try to wear them around the house but they’re too sweet for me. I have to say some have the original dna like Rocker Femme fantasy as the signature cupcake accord but the summer ones I feel can be totally a new fragrance. It’s weird because prerogative and private show has some fantasy dna. So looking at this business wise, I’m like you guys are conflicting but it’s not purely a Team Britney being their usual lazy self, the major fragrance companies are doing this with their popular sellers and unfortunately Britney’s Fantasy is a stable.

I have 11 of her perfumes and yes they are kind of like in the same family. Like you can tell the base notes or whatever you call it, i mean they have the same DNA. Especially Fantasy, Hidden Fantasy, Nice, Naughty, and Circus. You can tell they're all siblings. The others like Midnight, Island, etc are cousins. Not the same but not very different either.

I'm sorry but that is NOT britney in that pic.  It's obviously someone else and they photoshopped elements of her onto it.

Like why the hell is one of her eyes hers (the brown eye) and the green/grey eye is not even real because look at the location of the pupil in the iris, it's not even centered. Our pupils don't move, the iris does.  Also the face structure and mouth is definitely not hers either.

What a mess... this is basically the pop star Black Mirror episode where they're using the pop star's edited image and voice and even performances when they entrapped behind the scenes.

Thank you so much to both of you for your thoughts!! I hate not being able to have a formed opinion on anything Britney related, so your input helps me a lot. I hope one day I can smell (and own) all her perfumes myself! I actually like perfumes and using them :D

Me too! I don’t go by label and just wear what I like but her perfumes are very sweet so it’s hard to find one that I can really enjoy. I go on Fragrantica a lot so I learn a lot about perfumes and the industry too from other members. Where do you live that you don’t have access to her perfumes? They’re pretty cheap online hence why I usually have no problem buying them to collect.

@bitbitboiYou're welcome, sweetie. When you do, I highly recommend getting Curious, Fantasy, Midnight Fantasy, and Private Show. Maybe Hidden Fantasy as well. I don't know but my Mom really likes it when I use Hidden Fantasy and Curious. The men love Fantasy and Midnight Fantasy. Intimate Fantasy is good too but for me it's not versatile. Like its the perfume you wear at home in your bed and Netlix and chill with a guy. Of course I still prefer using real perfume like Chanel but when it comes to Britney's, for me, those are definitely the ones to get. :cutebrit:

I was wondering about it, you're completely right. This whole perfume thing is so wrong on so many levels.
Does anyone even buy these? :beynah: They should give it for free with The Zone tickets

I live in Argentina... Do not get me started. They are not available in physical stores here, and when they were they were ridiculously expensive, even if I want to buy them online (shipping costs just kill me).

On which website do you buy them online, though? I just checked Britney's own store and they only have "Prerogative" there! How is that even possible?? It's her OFFICIAL store, they should have absolutely each one of her perfumes available for purchase...

I heard everyone likes Curious but that it feels "childish" or something like that, maybe because of it having so much vanilla?

I like fresh, citrusy smells, so I'm guessing Island Fantasy would be for me... Anyway, I'm only daydreaming.

PS: "...I still prefer using REAL PERFUME like Chanel..." omg the SHADE.

Well since her contract with Kohl’s expired, the US is no better as I used to go to the store and sample her new fragrance or any of her other ones that they have as a tester. Which sucks because people said Prerogative Rave is very fresh and citrusy (my kind of fragrance!)

I never pay retail price! It’s insane for me to pay that much for something I like to use liberally so I go on amazon or eBay, sometimes her perfumes end up at discount stores so I pick them up from there. Her perfumes are usually $20 max and that’s how much I’m willing to pay for a Britney fragrance (okay the prerogative was 24 but I bought it new from Walmart still not bad)

My sister had curious, it’s very fresh floral and musky. At first it screams grandma perfume to me (maybe because the florals) but it calms down and is an easy scent to pull off (not me personally, very feminine though I can see any female wearing it) I think it’s a classic female scent while Fantasy is like “girly”.My mom wanted to wear Curious but she thought it was for younger kids lol

island Fantasy is very juicy, it’s sweet but not in a sugary way. You get lots of watermelon but the downside is it barely last. Maybe 1-2 hours for me, probably gonna get it again but like it’s something you use for fun around the house or a quick errand run. Smells like a body spray but the bottle is just gorgeous looking so at least I don’t feel like I’m spraying cheap body spray? Lol

someone did a breakdown of her line so maybe it would help

this girl likes sweet perfumes so consider that when she’s talking about it. Hope that helps!

People collect them but in the fragrance community she is very much loved even if they aren’t fans of her music. Lots of females love her fragrances and will buy any of her fragrances because it’s that good (slay queen!) but I’m sure most don’t even think about what’s going on in her personal life to see the shadiness. Though I heard complaints that the fantasy line is overdone.

Oh so I guess it not that different there! You can get them all in the US of course, but you have to look for good prices too... The good thing is that she has so many that I'm sure you have discounts from time to time! :D

omg I watched both videos, that girl is so eloquent that I almost feel like I'm smelling them! I think I would definitely like Island Fantasy, and also Maui and even Sunset! I'm also surprised how much people seem to like Midnight and Hidden. I would also get Intimate just because of the bottle, that **** is beautiful. And didn't In Bloom won Fragrance of the Year? That one has got to be good too.

Thanks again for the videos, I'm already suscribed to her channel :D

Yeah with her perfumes, it’s more bargain hunting and yes, good thing she has so much that it’s bound to end up at some discount retailer. So I try to keep a look out.

I too subscribed to her because she describes scents very accurately without sounding pretentious and she genuinely loves perfume so it’s fun to watch her (plus I feel she’s a Britney fan ;) )

I have hidden fantasy due to everyone recommending it and I think it’s a good scent. You do get a lot of orange and florals, there’s a slight creaminess that almost smells like the original fantasy but overall I think it’s wearable, it was my Christmas scent for like a month because the spices just reminds me of fall, like drinking pumpkin spice lol I want to try midnight but heard it’s sweet.

I actually tried intimate at kohl’s once with my mom. She hates sweet scents but love Intimate. To me it smells like brown sugar but my mom can detect florals and other stuff, maybe you might like the scent too! The fantasy in bloom smells like cherry shampoo to me lol and some reviews say the same so I’m not crazy. I like it but don’t love it as it mostly florals and fresh. Bottle is meh so I didn’t bother buying it.

I had the first original Fantasy, and Midnight Fantasy, and liked it a lot. But it's true, fantasy line is sooo overdone, I can't even count how many they released. And the newest ones are hard to find & buy (not online, but in regular stores, never seen them). So I still wonder how they earn much enough to release another, and another, and another one. Maybe because of lack of promo, minimum effort, pure earnings out of Britney's name. :xfactorlook:
