  1. A big night for Barbados and Rihanna! The county officially became a republic as it broke ties with UK and Queen Elizabeth. Inaugural president Dame Sandra Mason was sworn in during a ceremony headed by Prince Charles. Rihanna was also honored with the National Hero Award shortly after the Caribbean island nation became a republic According to reports, Rihanna is the second woman in Barbados history to be named a "national hero", first being Sarah Ann Gill who died in 1866. She looked amazing! But where the hell is the album Source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10257177/Rihanna-honored-Hero-Award-striking-orange-dress-Barbados-swears-president.html
  2. And A$AP Rocky is the father. Take it with a grain of salt. R9 is never coming
  3. I'm starting a series on Exhale titled Jay's "Britney Deep Dive" Series which will be threads doing a deep dive into Britney's discography and her unreleased songs, b-sides and songs originally for Britney. We all knew *****cat Dolls song "When I Grow Up" was originally for Britney. Team Con rejected it. Gaga's Telephone was meant to be a collaboration between Gaga and Britney on Britney's record. Also "Umbrella" was for Britney Rihanna has two songs I love from her GGGB era and I cannot believe I just found out Question Exisiting and Good Girl Gone Bad written by Shaffer "Ne-Yo" Smith were intended for Britney. Listening to them now years later and paying attention to the lyrics they scream Britney Britney would have done Question Exisiting justice Also the lyrics to GGGB is so Britney it makes me cry We stay moving around, solo Ask us where you at, we don't know And don't care (don't care) All we know is we was at home 'cause you left us there You got your boys and got gone And left us all alone Now she in the club with a freaky dress on Cats don't want her to keep that dress on Trying to get enough drinks in her system Take it to the tele and make her a victim Patron on the brain, ball player in the face They shake the spot, she's just another case Easy for a good girl to go bad And once we gone (gone) Best believe we've gone forever Don't be the reason Don't be the reason You better learn how to treat us right 'Cause once a good girl goes bad We die forever He's staying with a flock of 'em, oh, yeah Got a girl at home but he don't care Won't care (won't care) All he'll do is keep me at home, won't let me go nowhere He thinks because I'm at home I won't be getting it on And now I'm finding numbers in the jacket pockets Tricks calling the house, non-stop it's Getting out of control Finally I can't take no more He finds a letter on the stairs, saying this is the end I packed my bag and left with your best friend Easy for a good girl to go bad And once we gone (gone) Best believe we've gone forever Don't be the reason Don't be the reason You better learn how to treat us right 'Cause once a good girl goes bad We die forever We stay moving around, solo Ask us where you at, we don't know And don't care (don't care) All we know is we was at home 'cause you left us there You got your boys and got gone And left us all alone Easy for a good girl to go bad And once we gone (gone) Best believe we've gone forever Don't be the reason Don't be the reason You better learn how to treat us right 'Cause once a good girl goes bad We die forever We gone forever We gone forever Discuss?!
  4. A day like today but 12 years ago, Rihanna released her fourth studio album, ‘Rated R’. Her most critically acclaimed work to date, Rated R is characterized by a mature, heartfelt delivery and by being the first record in which Rihanna starts participating more in the creative process. It was highly anticipated, since the violent incident with Chris Brown had taken place just nine months prior. The era saw Rihanna with a complete sonic and visual overhaul. Unlike some other projects of hers, the album follows a line and it does not seem to be put together only to host her smash hits. Originally to be titled ‘Such a ******* Lady’, the songs explore heartbreak, regret, and a hard-edged, boastful attitude. In terms of production, pop, hip hop, R&B, and rock are seamlessly blended. I would like to discuss some of these songs, tracks that laid the blueprint for what Rihanna continued to do, at least until 2016. Lead single ‘Russian Roulette’ took many of us by surprise. We were used to fun bops and we got a response to all that had been going on in her personal life, covered in some of her best vocals to date. ‘Wait Your Turn’, ‘Hard’, and ‘Rockstar 101’ depict Rihanna as a bold, fearless woman, just the way she is. She definitely owns this persona and it shows in her delivery. Ballads like ‘Fire Bomb’ and ‘Cold Case Love’ truly shine in this album, and in her entire discography. Some fans hoped they would become singles, and while I would’ve agreed, I also like their hidden gem status. The bridge in Fire Bomb lives rent free in my mind. Cold Case Love is an obvious nod to Chris Brown, six minutes and four seconds of pure greatness. ‘Rude Boy’, the big hit in the album. Classic Rihanna: dancehall influences, raunchy lyrics, and a catchy hook. ‘Te Amo’ is one of the most interesting songs in the album. One might think that the latin music influence might be too on the nose, but it works effortlessly. As the song progresses it just gets better. The bi-curious energy is real here. ‘The Last Song’ closes the album beautifully. The lyrics are perfect for that empty post-breakup feeling. Rated R is probably my favorite Rihanna album, and its influence can be seen in all of her ensuing projects. It was the first one in the string of albums that she put out within a year or less between them. I daresay, if it were released today, it would sound…kind of fresh… what do you think, Exhale?
  5. Queen of vinyls! Between her and Adele, there will be no more vinyls left
  6. The Grammy-winning single occupied the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks, becoming the longest-running #1 of 2011. It was named one of the defining songs of the decade by Billboard.
  7. Rihanna says her new record will be experimental. At one point there was buzz she was releasing two albums: one more conventional Rihanna, one reggae. No idea if that's still happening - one way or another though I'm perched.
  8. The two women who haven't released a new studio album in a while have united together for a double date. We see Nicki Minaj's family with Rihanna and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The two legends appear to have a great time together. Fans are hoping for a #ChunRih collab. Wonder if that is happening soon.
  9. I just saw on Ultimate music that Rihanna will reportedly release a new single on May 14 !! They were never wrong about their infos, I hope this one's true tho. Here's the post : https://www.facebook.com/ultimatemusicpage/posts/10158361969379858 What do you think ?
  10. Rihanna is slapped with a lawsuit over the controversial song used in her fashion show, unfortunately the lawsuit states that the woman has been recieving threats of decapitation of her head, and she's been forced into hiding. But, on the other end, people state she had every right to a lawsuit after it happened in the first place, for her to reemerge after Rihanna was declared a Billionaire is definitely having people question the legit need of a lawsuit after almost a year after the show premiered. Other comments indeed declare the religion as nothing but evil and why wars still happen in that region in particular with Palestine, this has led to a debate on YouTube where people of that faith is basically saying their religion is misunderstood and it has been since 9/11 in the US. You can see all the comments on YouTube that is for and against this.
  11. “Rihanna is now worth $1.7 billion, Forbes estimates—making her the wealthiest female musician in the world and second only to Oprah Winfrey as the richest female entertainer. But it’s not her music that’s made her so wealthy. The bulk of her fortune (an estimated $1.4 billion) comes from the value of Fenty Beauty, of which Forbes can now confirm she owns 50%. Much of the rest lies in her stake in her lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million, and her earnings from her career as a chart-topping musician and actress.” Source Queen Behavior
  12. Both immaculate songs are in the top 5 songs of her entire discography. Obviously, Love on the Brain was bigger, but which one is better?
  13. Two hugely iconic hit singles that are still beloved to this day. Better song?
  14. Which of these excellent 2016 albums is better?
  15. This is not a drill! Rihanna is finally filming what appears to be a new music video. It's rumored to feature ASAP Rocky.
  16. This is my first time, it just popped onto my recommendations - I can't believe what I am seeing here. This is plagiarism and not even inspiration here. I am shocked to my very core.
  17. Rihanna is facing a wave of backlash for commenting on the ongoing Palestine/Israel conflict. More than 70 people have been killed since Monday. Thoughts on what Rihanna said, Exhale? Related:

  19. Rihanna had a few hits under her belt by the time GGGB came out. ‘Pon De Replay’, ‘Unfaithful’, and the #1 hit ‘S.O.S.’ were kept in constant play by many of us. Even so, Rihanna still needed to accomplish a quite difficult feat: becoming a household name. ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ was a hit machine that established Rihanna as a global superstar, a title she still enjoys even without putting music out It was the music, the looks (I remember my mom watching the ‘Umbrella’ music video and asking: “who is she? she’s gorgeous”) the music videos, the performances, and her constant sass. Main pop girl. Some of you might wonder about the accuracy of the release date. It came out at different points: May 31 in some European territories; June 5 in the U.S.; and well, even in 2007, an early release meant a worldwide one. I am elated to write about this in Exhale because I was OBSESSED with this album, and if it weren’t for ‘Blackout’ coming out later in 2007, my family and neighbors would’ve kicked my butt out of the neighborhood. Therefore, in order to celebrate its 14th anniversary, I would like to run down the track list and talk about each song: Umbrella: the undeniable ‘Umbrella’. I am not the biggest Jay-Z fan but I enjoy his verse and his chemistry with Rihanna is nice, here and in the other tracks they’ve done together. This song is larger than life and its message has resonated with me all along. I just keep wondering how it would have sounded with Britney? . By the way, does anyone remember her performance in the MTV Movie Awards? When Rih seemed to enjoy being on stage. Push up on Me: I listen to her vocals in this one and it’s just scary that I have seen her evolve that much. Pretty cool track. Don’t Stop the Music: I will never forget when I bought the album, played it for the first time and got to track #3. I blasted it. Timeless banger. My prayers for it to become a single were heard. Breakin’ Dishes: was this a prediction of how Rih-Rih would evolve over time? This was the single that got away. The ‘blow this whole house down’ part is fire Shut up and Drive: the music video is a SERVE. I enjoy the song, it’s just that I think is the odd one out in the album. Hate that I Love You: I love the way this song was crafted as an actual duet and it wasn’t something like “let’s throw Ne-Yo in because he’s hot right now and he wrote it”. Their vocals blend beautifully together. Also, she looked like a goddess in the music video. Say It: it’s a cute song, but probably the weakest track in the album. Sell Me Candy: many people find this song weird, and it kind of is, but in a good way I’d say. It’s reminiscent of the sound in her first two albums, but bettter. Lemme Get That: this is another song that could have belonged to one of her first two albums, just a bit sassier. It’s not entirely bad, but I might find myself skipping it. Rehab: I think this song is really underappreciated. I loved it the minute I heard it. Also, I think it’s noteworthy how even when Timbaland produced it, it didn’t sound like something he would’ve done. Question Existing: ok, the lyrics here are deep sh!et. This song is amazing. I think it could even fit in ‘Anti’. I wonder how she feels about this song at this point in her career. Good Girl Gone Bad: R&B perfection. This song is like a narration, something not very usual in Rihanna’s catalogue. The perfect closing track for the album. About the 'Reloaded' edition: Disturbia Take a Bow If I Never See Your Face Again (with Maroon 5) How do you feel about this record?

  22. On May 22, 2011, Britney Spears was featured as a guest performance of both Rihanna's and Nicki Minaj's performances at the Billboard Music Awards. With Rihanna she performed S&M. The previous month, a remix of her single S&M had been released, and it featured Britney. Later that year, Britney would include the song on her Femme Fatale Tour in a medley with her classic hit ...Baby One More Time. After Nicki Minaj finished her performance of Super Bass, she started rapping her part from the Till the World Ends (Femme Fatale Remix) released on April 22, which also featured Ke$ha. Britney joined her onstage to perform a shortened version of her song.
  23. @Midnight's "Rihanna vs. Miley" thread inspired me to to start this discussion, as I once again realized that I don't really listen to Rihanna anymore despite being a huge fan back in the day. So, this got me thinking - what artists did you guys use to listen to that you don't anymore? Here are my picks: If y'all didn't know, Rihanna used to be THE pop girlie in my eyes. When I say I was obsessed with her, I mean it. In fact, the Good Girl Gone Bad tour was the 1st tour I ever went to, and GGGB was the 1st CD I ever bought. However, in recent years I've developed an appreciation for people that actually write their own songs, so I slowly but surely fell out of love with Rihanna. Plus, her more recent albums (namely, Unapologetic and Talk That Talk) weren't that great. ANTI was really good, but I had already moved on to other artists. Y'all gonna destroy my fraudulent azz for this, but I haven't listened to any of Brit's music in over a year. I don't even know why I participated in any of @Slayer's megarates. Consider this a coming out - I'm coming out as a complete and total fraud. These days, I only use Exhale for pop music discussions and #FreeBritney updates. I've been a fan of Dula Doop for longer than any of you fads - I was obsessed with her debut album, which came out in mid 2017, and I had my eye on her before that because of Be the One and Hotter Than Hell. Her debut album was the soundtrack to my trip to Turkey, so I was extremely excited for Future Nostalgia. Obviously, I loved it as much as the next f@g, but by the time the repackage came around, I had already gotten over her because of all the overexposure and how much I had overplayed FN. I really didn't expect to grow bored of Miss Dula Doop, but I did... Ari was already on my radar during the Yours Truly era because of The Way, but it was My Everything that turned me into an actual fan. I freakin' loved that album, and Dangerous Woman was really good too (it hasn't aged that well, though). When it came to Sweetener and thank u, next, I didn't really vibe with her new direction, so I didn't even bother with the albums. I fell so out of love with Ari that I haven't listened to Positions either. I lowkey forgot that it even exists. I've been an avid fan of alternative pop girlies since Lana Del Rey burst on the scene, so I was obviously interested in Melanie as well. I gave Cry Baby a shot and adored it. I think Soap was the first song that caught my attention, but the whole album is brilliant and still holds up. However, it took her so long to release K-12 that I just lost interest. She showed 0 artistic growth - K-12 was the exact same thing (but less interesting), so I listened to it once and forgot about it. I've heard good things about the somewhat recent EP, but I couldn't be bothered. I bet most of her fans have moved on to Hillbillie Eyelash too. The way I lowkey deserve to get cancelled for this thread... Anyway, sound off, y'all.
