  1. Stream Rain on Me (Which is now apparently about lactation)
  2. Lady Gaga sat down with Apple Music's Zane Lowe for an interview about her new album, Chromatica, out May 29. She says it's a dance record again. Gaga also talks about Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande in the full interview. We did it kids. Related:
  3. The answer is yes. Rain On Me apparently samples a song called All This Love That I’m Giving by Gwen McCrae. But when the best drops in the chorus (after the already iconic and anthemic facial line Rain. On. Me.), it sounds a lot like Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust, a late 90’s dance hit that samples a different song Fate by Chaka Khan. Given Lady Gaga’s previous history with creating songs in a “reductive” manner, could she be up to her old tricks again? Can any of you hear the similarity? For the record, I don’t think BTW and Express Yourself sound that alike
  4. Lady Gaga's new music video for "Rain On Me," featuring Ariana Grande, is out now! The video is a total serve. Gaga suits up as a '90s-punk pop rain warrior. In some scenes she's literally pulling daggers out of herself - a metaphor for past trauma - elsewhere she's singing while rain pours down over her face. Ariana is a true pop star, but this is the first instance where she really leaned into the Gaga effect. It's the best pop visual of the year imo. Thoughts? In her recent interview with Paper, Gaga opened up about the collab. Here's an excerpt: Chromatica drops May 29th. Related:
  5. It pains me to continue writing posts like these, but the Chromatica leaks continue to spill onto the Internet. One of the new cuts, "Free Woman," appeared online today in-full. It's got a bit of an '80s feel to it – a mid-tempo beat pulsates behind the infectious chorus. You may recall Gaga's iconic line, "I'm a free b----, baby." Now she's a free woman. A bit of Gaga's Ariana Grande collab leaked last month. Of course I can't point you in the right direction for either, but they're out there. May 29th can't come soon enough.
  6. Mother Monster changes the face of pop music with her sophomore album. Lady Gaga released Born This Way on May 23, 2011. Back in late 2010, Lady Gaga told a crowd of screaming fans in Gdsank, Poland that her second studio album, Born This Way, would be “the greatest album of this decade.” Almost 10 years later, the declaration still rings true. The blockbuster LP changed up the game for Mother Monster, elevating her off kilter pop contributions to new degrees of weird cool. In the process, it turned off a few folks, but regardless of whether you championed her creativity or turned your nose at the spectacle, it was certainly an era worth watching. For BreatheHeavy’s latest installment of This Day In Pop, we’re revisiting Gaga’s mega-release as she works steadily on her sixth studio album. Check out the full story on Exhale's Pop Anniversaries Calendar! Exhale, what's your favorite song off Born This Way?
  7. Alexa Camp from Slant ( IDK who that is but she mad) published a scathing review of "Rain On Me." If it bleeds, it leads. In her review, she says Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are "two overzealous vocalists duking it out to see who can outsing the other over the course of the track’s three chart-maximizing minutes." She also shades Gaga and her past trauma. Look at this: "The song is reportedly about the singers’ shared public trauma, and while it’s unclear which of Gaga’s myriad traumas the track references, it ostensibly addresses the PTSD Grande is said to have suffered following the terror attack at her Manchester concert in 2017." Do you think Gaga and Ari try to "ousting" one another on Rain On Me? I personally don't at ALL. They actually have a pretty stellar contrast despite both being powerhouse vocalists. They complimented each other very well, and trust... I recognize there was real potential for a singing match. But it didn't turn out that way. Sorry that you're wrong, Slant. Thoughts? Agree?
  8. The palette looks great! Even better on Nikkie's eyes. But where is that BRIGHT PINK? Of course pink isn't part of that color scheme, but then why would Gaga call the palette "Stupid Love" when the video is all about pink. Her hair is pink in the photo, and there's even pink on her eyelids. And didn't she say that in this album (called none other than "Chromatica") each song represented a color, and that SL was pink? I DON'T GET IT aaaanyway here it is: PS: Not sure if this is the right forum, feel free to move.
  9. I need this album in my life Check out this new Chromatica photo. It's featured as the main pic for the Lady Gaga Essentials playlist on Apple Music. Anyone else counting down the day till the album's out? Related:
  10. I think one of the most difficult generations to belong to right now besides being an elderly person is a high school student. Imagine not getting the opportunity to celebrate the milestones every adolescent before you did. This pandemic is tough, but some super star A-listers are joining forces to make the world a better place and ease the angst. YouTube is streaming a virtual graduation event on June 6th at 3 pm EST. It features speeches from the Obamas (), Lady Gaga, Beyonce and more. Gaga is performing as well, as is BTS, Camila Cabello, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion (with Beyonce as as surprise I bet ) and more. Are YOU tuning in?
  11. Rapper 6ix9ine, whom I did not think would get so many posts on Exhale EVER, claims Billboard fudged the numbers and gave Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's new song, "Stuck With U," the #1, because according to him... they bought it. He says they used six credit cards to purchase 30k copies and wants to do the same this Friday with his new song "GOOBA." It's a personal vendetta against Ariana now. Gaga's releasing a new song on Friday with Ariana titled Rain on Me," the next single off Chromatica. 6ix could derail that from hitting #1. Obviously his purchasing methods won't work, but he IS creating a lot of chatter around his song which could = more streams. "GOOBA" is #3 this week. We have to start our #JusticeForRainOnMe campaign now sisters Related:
  12. The "Stupid Love" Remix, a Target exclusive bonus track, was just issued. I honestly think she's not giving any promo singles or anything in that matter. I feel the album is just coming out cause it was all about to leak. I still feel she's a visual artist and to her... performance in videos and live make it hard for her to promote, but I also feel the music leaking and people being impatient got into the way. So I think she is just issuing Chromatica without a concrete plan. I already know the tour will likely be canceled. No way city government or state governments will allow massive crowds until a vaccine is created. Update: she's releasing "Rain On Me" with Ariana Grande on Friday. Thoughts on the remix? Related:
  13. No matter how many safeguards are in place, hackers tend to find the cracks. Celebrity law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, who represents some major super stars, including Lady Gaga, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Bruce Springsteen and many more, are the subject of a major data breach. The hackers used a ransomware dubbed “REvil” on the firm and are asking for $21 million in exchange for the 756 gigabytes of stolen data. The law firm allegedly hired cyber-extortion specialists to fight back. That pissed the hackers off, so they released a 2.4 gigabyte batch of files on Thursday. “It seems that GRUBMANS doesn’t care about their clients or it was a mistake to hire a recovery company to help in the negotiations,” the hackers wrote. “As we promised, we [published] the first part of the data because the time is up.” They added: “The ransom is now $42 million.” The firm is still refusing to pay any ransom. In that new leak includes how much Gaga is making off her songwriting royalties towards songs she contributed and co-wrote for A Star Is Born. From Rolling Stone: This bit of information in my opinion is actually very interesting and makes Gaga look good. Gaga takes the lion's share of music publishing royalties. "Shallow" 40% Music to my Eyes 40% Look What I Found 25% Always Remember us This Way 25% I Don't Know What Love Is 60% Hair Body Face 50% Before I Cry 70% The major take away is this is a gross invasion of privacy, and certainly doesn't help that I'm posting about it, but also the damage is done. We love a pop star who owns her stuff. We been knew, but she's set for life! Thoughts on the data breach? Thoughts on Gaga's share?
  14. I'm not a huge fan of chart and streaming data, but I AM a huge proponent of girl power. This is why everyone is like, WhErE's R9 Kinda surprised about Halsey. Anyone missing?
  15. Queen of knowing her audience. Queen of marketing. Queen of earning that coint. Lady Gaga is selling some pretty epic Chromatica merchandise bundles. Each item includes a digital copy of the album. Since she can't sell tour tickets with the album, this will have to do. Merch includes: Shirts Sweatpants Hats Socks Bandanas Pillows Tote bags Underwear Thongs Jockstraps It's actually pretty brilliant because I just know so many of gays are gonna just throw our hard-earned stimulus money at her. I was this close to impulsively buying the underwear. Are any of you going to purchase some of the merch? We're gonna need receipts of how it fits
  16. The Met Gala in 2019 was one for the books! Lady Gaga was a bit of an exhibitionist when she made her grand appearance at the event on May 6, 2019 (which feels like a lifetime ago). She continually stripped off her clothing while hamming it up for the cameras. It was pretty epic and deserves a day on Exhale's Pop Anniversaries calendar. Check out the epic video at the event date below: If you haven't already, please add to Exhale's calendar! It's been super fun to enjoy these daily walks down memory lane each day. In a year or two from now we could have events filled out for every day. How fun would that be! Btw, each event you add to the calendar earns you 20 Points that can go towards your Exhale+ subscription or buying an item in the store. New items are coming soon Anyone else still remembering Gaga's performance at the Met Gala?
  17. Lady gaga has a wide range of idols. The more theatrical and musically gifted musicians embraced her. While the only pop icons to embrace her were the Jackson's.. Club queen weirdo Grace Jones was one of the first to give negative feedback saying she can't see her soul. Madonna staryed with initial praise and Attending concers. But the born this way song really did her in. Many critics speculate it was that moment when gaga started second guessing herself. When both Madonna and Whitney attacked her back to back. Then Boy George did to. Calling Five foot two a carbon copy of In bed with Madonna (known outside the US where it's Madonna: Truth or dare). David bowie and his son weren't fans. Many do believe that Cheek to Cheek and Joanne happened cos pop music really gave her a backlash with her idols and Artpop being trashed. Read the reviews of that album. Many noted they focused more on gaga as a person and less about music. Someone pointed out. It's a miracle you can hear gaga's latest album while the knives are sharpening to stab her metaphorically speaking. Gaga contemplated retirement in 2014. But Tony Bennett basically reassured her that she had a gift to the world that was needed.
  18. Adele said at her best friend’s wedding party in February people can expect her fourth studio album in September. Her makeup artist just posted something hinting at her return... it could be sooner than we expected. "Exciting news coming soon!! Get ready to get on board,” he wrote. Imagine Adele releasing before Gaga
  19. Lady Gaga was forced to reveal the Chromatica tracklist today after Target posted it ahead of schedule. BloodPop, who's executive producing it, then re-posted the image and tagged a bunch of the producers featured on the record. There's a bunch of heavy hitters on Chromatica. Interestingly, SOPHIE was not tagged. She was rumored to have worked on the record. Thoughts on the power house producers list?! Bloodpop Max Martin Rami Yacoub Boys Noize Ely Rise Tom Norris Skrillex Madeon Burns Axwell Justin Tranter Ryan Tedder Madison Emiko Love Liohn Nija Benjamin Rice WhiteSea Music Klahr JKash
  20. Well as soon as "Rain On Me" was announced... the LA Times basically said to the current pop generation that Gaga is the queen of pop and Ariana is the princess of pop....replacing the 00s version of queen and Princess Madonna and Britney. Citing while both are legends, they literally failed to get a hit. LA asked when was the last time anybody outside the two fanbases even asked: hey let's stream Madonna or Britney? Radio doesn't play Britney that much compared to her contemporaries Justin Timberlake or the Backstreet boys, who scored one of their biggest radio hits a couple years ago with "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." Also, Britney fans are the early millennials which means like half her fans are turning 40 in the next few years... which already tells you that they don't matter anymore. The current generation, people 11-21-years-old, have more streaming power. Britney and Madonna fans prefer to buy than stream. Tragic if you ask me, but hey that's aging and the difference of generations for you. Out with the old and in with the new?
  21. HANA, who frequently collaborates with Grimes, and is the girlfriend of producer Bloodpop, said in a live stream that Gaga and Bloodop are aware of the Chromatica leaks, and they're trying to figure out what to do. She also added that they're all upset and annoyed about it. In case you've been living under a rock, Chromatica is slowly spilling onto the Internet and has from the very start. The record was originally meant to drop April 10th, but Gaga postponed it because of the pandemic. You may recall "Stupid Love" leaked a month in advance. Then Gaga's album cover surfaced ahead of schedule, as did her tracklist and clips of new songs "Free Woman," "Babylon" (perhaps titled something else on the album or not included at all) and her Ariana Grande-assisted song, "Rain On Me." It's easy for Little Monsters to demand that Gaga release the album now, but if she has a certain vision in mind and can't execute it because of social distancing... I can understand her reservations. However, I also see the other side: the world is hurting right now and Gaga's new music could uplift millions of people who are going through a hard time. I think she should release it in the very near future and worry about promo later / participate in promo that's not the typical televised performance. Look how many people tuned into 'One World.' 270 million! She could easily think of something creative to promote Chromatica. Thoughts, Exhale? Should Gaga release the album or not?
  22. Ariana Grande caught wind of the LA Times' quote that essentially called Lady Gaga the new queen of pop, and how she chose Ariana as her princess. They also low-key claimed that they replace Madonna and Britney as our pop royalty. I posted about it on BH's Instagram and the comments exploded. Ariana said it made her cry. Looks like she accepts the crown!
