  1. It truly was iconic. That was such a significant time in her career. The restaurant launch with the step and repeat was all over the blogs. I feel like it would be fun to do a version of NYLA in Vegas. A Britney restaurant would make sense at Planet Hollywood and would probably do well with all the traffic from her residency.
  2. I'm curious if anyone had the chance to check out Britney's iconic restaurant NYLA in 2002. I never had the pleasure, myself but I always appreciated the colorfully stylized logo. Did any of you have the privilege of personally experiencing this brief moment in history? Perhaps you have memorabilia from the short-lived NYLA era? Would love to hear about it! To refresh your memory, Britney Spears joined two of her favorite places into one restaurant when she opened NYLA at the Dylan Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The concept, which blended cuisine from New York and Louisiana, was abandoned in 2002 after just six months of service. It was reported that the restaurant racked up some health code violations and significant debt which led to Britney cutting ties with the restaurant. RIP NYLA. Gone too soon.
  3. Glad this movie was mentioned! This was a surprisingly diverse production of Cinderella. Also worth mentioning that Brandy starred in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
  4. Lately I've been thinking about some of my favorite movies featuring great performances from Black pop stars. Obviously the late, great Whitney Houston comes to mind right away. The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher's Wife. Whitney wowed us as a leading lady in The Bodyguard and her performance broke barriers at the time. Even though she faced criticism from film critics, it's safe to say some of her movies have undoubtedly stood the test of time. Mariah has been cast in some very impressive dramatic roles in Lee Daniels films Precious and The Butler. Justice For Glitter! Beyonce in Dreamgirls and The Lion King. Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if you're nasty) in Poetic Justice Diana Ross, Janelle Monae, Aaliyah, Will Smith. The list goes on... I'm curious what some of your fave crossover performances are. Let's discuss!
