  1. But many people think Baby One More Time is overrated and its impact is overrated as well. I think Baby One More Time was the song that solidified Bubblegum Teen pop (which was already resurgent with spice girls, backstreet, and nsync before) as the dominant genre in music...for two years. I don't agree that it "changed music forever" though because hip hop was also becoming very dominant around 2000 as well. And Toxic was released and massive during a wave of hip hop and r&b hits, which is just as noteworthy.
  2. I'm surprised you left off Piece of Me. Just because the song can be an uncomfortable listen for some doesn't mean that the song isnt easily one of Britney's greatest, especially lyrically.
  3. In the zone definitely has touches of R&B and hip hop but it wasn't leaning that way. A lot of material that didn't make the album wasn't r&b or hip hop. The material overall was varied and rooted in a lot of styles. I mean, I don't really know if her Original Doll album was going to be r&b/hip hop We just don't know what direction she would have went if she had total control of her music. As for now her two best albums remain In the Zone and Blackout.
  4. I wouldn't say her In The Zone era was moving towards an R&B sound at all though. There were just as many non-r&b inspired songs she recorded that were left off the album, if not more.
  5. I agree... I do maintain that if Britney really wanted to be out of the spotlight, she would have had to be willing to leave the industry/LA or a big city back in 2004 or 2005 when she got married and started her family and then try for a comeback later. Releasing a reality tv show when she was supposed to be out of the spotlight couldn't have helped her lead a more private life, unfortunately...
  6. I mean to me, 'Everytime' is arguably both her best song-since she wrote it- and music video, since it literally foreshadows big parts of her life. But is it anywhere near impactful as some of her other songs? Of course not.
  7. Toxic matches (or surpasses) Baby One More Time in absolutely every single way, except for music video impact.
  8. What is pointless is Annet Artani's meritless interview. Again-and this is very simple- what we know is that we have evidence Britney Spears composed the initial riff of the hit song 'Everytime'... "At the time, Britney had started to play the piano a bit, and she could certainly play well enough to spell out the root chords. She’d show me what she had, and I would say, “Well, here’s how we could fill this out.”-Guy Sigsworth https://consequence.net/2017/09/from-bjork-to-britney-songwriter-and-producer-guy-sigsworth-on-being-a-kindred-spirit-in-the-studio/6/ And that we have evidence Britney can write more than one melody or riff on a musical instrument, unlike Annet Artani... (1:50)
  9. We already know Britney didn't compose the entire song, as Guy Sigsworth has previously attested: "At the time, Britney had started to play the piano a bit, and she could certainly play well enough to spell out the root chords. She’d show me what she had, and I would say, “Well, here’s how we could fill this out.” https://consequence.net/2017/09/from-bjork-to-britney-songwriter-and-producer-guy-sigsworth-on-being-a-kindred-spirit-in-the-studio/5/ What we do know is that Britney composed the initial riff of the song... Yeah, and we also have no idea how many songs Britney "has or hasn't written by herself". We have proof that Britney Spears composed the initial riff of the hit single 'Everytime', as well as proof Britney Spears can write more than one melody or riff on a musical instrument, unlike Annet Artani.
  10. The fact that youtube has been widely consumed for the last 15 years and (other social media for at least a decade) and there is still no evidence Annet Artani can write more than one riff or melody on a musical instrument on her own (unlike Britney Spears) speaks for itself. She couldn't write the K-pop hit "Nothing Lasts Forever" on her own and it doesn't look like she has a solo writing credit on any of the singles she's ever released either. So I'm not sure there if there is a back-and-forth on this or if there is even two sides to the story at all.
  11. Just to add to this point, one of Britney's collaborators, Michelle Bell, added in BuzzFeed article about her Original Doll album: 'Bell recalled the first time Spears played "Everytime" for her on the piano during their 2002 sessions. ("She definitely can play the piano, no one really knows that.") Bell told her she loved it, but Spears was hesitant about singing it for her A&R, the record label employee who would decide which songs would make the album.' https://www.buzzfeed.com/hunterschwarz/britney-spears-original-doll-secret-history-lost-album I think the issue is Artani's credibility. She says she's been writing songs on the piano since she was a kid yet between Artani and Spears, there is only evidence Spears can write more than one melody and/or riff on a musical instrument. And the only other noteworthy song she "wrote", the K-pop hit "Nothing Lasts Forever", she couldn't even write on her own, bringing into question what her contributions even were at all. As far as 'Everytime' is concerned, Britney Spears composed the song on her own and Annet Artani added 'something'.
  12. I think this is the clip you're referring to: (1:50) Agreed. Britney Spears composed 'Everytime' on the piano on her own folks. PERIOD. There is zero evidence Annet Artarni can write one or more melody on a musical instrument on her own, unlike Britney Spears. Moreover, the only other noteworthy song that Annet Artarni "wrote", the K-Pop hit Nothing Lasts Forever", she couldn't even write on her own, so we have no idea what she contributed. The burden of proof is still on Annet Artarni.
  13. But why do people pretend this is a compliment to Britney? Beyonce Knowles (and Rihanna too) has never in her life recorded a song as great as Toxic whatsoever, especially when comparing the irrelevant Crazy in Love with the timeless Toxic; they laughably rank that Beyonce song over one hundred places above Toxic when they are well aware Toxic is a far greater song. And the fact that the critically acclaimed electronic duo Justice not only remixed, but later sampled a Britney Spears song (also from In the Zone) on their most enduring single from their most acclaimed album is further proof that there is not even a chance Beyonce's music is more influential than Britney's music. (Just like there is less evidence Beyonce is a songwriter compared to Britney.) So the question remains, why do people pretend?
  14. People focus maybe too much on Danja and Max Martin, but to me BLOODSHY & AVANT are the most important producers in her carreer and in her sound evolution. She was the most creative, and probably the most comfortable with them. And their collaboration was clearly working well since they were present on 4 albums (ITZ, Blackout, Circus, FF). They litterally created the "Britney Spears sound "of the 00's : electronic, dance, pop with groundbreaking productions. I wonder why most fans ignore her collaborations with Guy Sigsworth. He worked with her on two studio albums, produced her greatest ballad (which she composed) and produced some of her best material that probably should have been on her studio albums... And although they didn't necessarily work together, Justice did remix her song "Me Against the Music" and later sampled that same song in their most enduring hit "D.A.N.C.E. from their album Cross.
