  2. Britney Spears no longer wants her father Jamie Spears to run the show and is hoping to make some big changes regarding her controversial conservatorship. Britney's court-appointed attorney, Samuel Ingham, filed new court docs asking Jamie Spears be relieved of his duty as sole conservator over her estate. Jodi Montgomery Jodi Montgomery, who was made Britney's temporary conservator over her personal affairs last year, may be made Britney's permanent conservator. Montgomery signed on after Jamie Spears stepped down as the personal conservator due to health complications. "BRITNEY is strongly opposed to having JAMES return as conservator of her person. Rather, she strongly prefers to have Ms. MONTGOMERY continue in that role as has done for nearly a year," the filing says. Removing Jamie Spears Jamie remained conservator over Britney's estate, though she no longer wants her dad to be handling her estate any longer either. Her attorney says Britney wants a "qualified corporate fiduciary" to manage the business side of things. TMZ states it's unclear at the moment whether Britney wants to keep Jamie as a co-conservator at all. They also add that sources close to the situation are looking into adding a corporate fiduciary, likely a bank, keeping Jamie on as co-conservator of the estate. TMZ doubles down that, according to the docs, it's unclear that Britney has agreed to that arrangement or not. The docs also state that Britney does not want to perform at this time. "No more Vegas residency," TMZ writes. "The attorney says a major overhaul in how her conservatorship is run is needed to reflect her current lifestyle and her wishes." Britney's lawyer is seeking additional input on these matters. Terminating the conservatorship Interestingly, according to The Blast, Britney may be considering filing to terminate the conservatorship entirely, though she has not filed that motion yet. "Without in any way waiving her right to seek termination of this conservatorship in the future, BRITNEY would like Ms. MONTGOMERY's appointment as conservator of her person to be made permanent," Ingham wrote. Ingham added that he believes Mr. Spears will aggressively fight the conservatorship being contested. "For many reasons, I have concluded that any effort to achieve my client's objectives as stated above will be aggressively contested by JAMES," the filing states. He continues, "BRITNEY herself has expressed to me a desire that we associate an attorney or law firm with substantial expertise in handling contested litigation in a highly complex case such as this one through trial." The Phases Britney's conservatorship was broken down into three phases. "The first phase can be described broadly as "triage": her conservators rescued her from a collapse, exploitation by predatory individuals and financial ruin," Ingham says. He continued, "The second phase covered BRITNEY' s performing years: with the aid of a personal manager, a business manager, and many other individuals, BRITNEY was able to regain her position as a world-class entertainer with multiple world tours, a television series and a residency in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas residency ended December 31, 2017, and her last live tour performance occurred on October 21, 2018." "The third phase of the conservatorship reflects BRITNEY'S stated desire not to perform at this time We are now at a point where the conservatorship must be changed substantially in order to reflect the major changes in her current lifestyle and her stated wishes." They are hoping to make these changes to the conservatorship to better reflect her lifestyle. "Based on the foregoing, I respectfully recommend that this court seek input from all parties and make appropriate orders to facilitate the implementation of my client's wishes as stated above, which I also believe to be in her best interests," he states. A formal hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19. Related:
