Today Billboard released a Ranking: „The 100 Greatest Songs of 2004“ and placed „Toxic“ at #1! 1. Is it the high-pitched strings from Bloodshy & Avant? Or the venomous lyrics from the Swedish production duo alongside Cathy Dennis and Henrik Jonback? Or maybe the cheeky superspy-spoofing music video? (It’s impossible to hear this song without immediately picturing Spears in a futuristic blue flight-attendant uniform.) Whatever it is, the In the Zone earworm infected everyone within its reach, as it topped Billboard’s Pop Airplay and Dance Club Songs charts (as well as our staff’s own Best Britney Spears Songs list). It earned Spears her first, and so far only, Grammy (for best dance recording). And even Jay-Z chose it as his favorite Britney song in a random 2013 Twitter Q&A (“jamming my G”). The song’s most enduring legacy, though, might be its whiplash-inducing range of covers, from Local H’s rocker, to The Chapin Sisters’ folk version, to Mark Ronson’s ODB-featuring hip-hop spin, to, naturally, a cappella takes from both the Pitch Perfect franchise and Glee (twice). What all the above endorsements add up to is that “Toxic” has seemingly become Spears’ most universally beloved song, using her already-established superpowers (the unmistakable breathy vocals, her magnetic onscreen presence and flawless choreography) and adding an electronic pop sound that put a legend who could have been forever linked to the ’90s instead at the forefront of top 40’s new frontier. Britney, take as much time as you need away from this poisonous, entertainment business. That's kinds it. I feel like she's been getting quite s bit of hate and stuff for her dancing lately, with people like musty Elon commenting as well. We know she lurks here, so let's say something positive, and encourage her to maybe come back. I do hope she eventually gets singing lessons and stops smoking.. she has so much potential, as an artist. **** her family. She doesn't need them. She needs good friends. But I'd also like to see her comeback because she wanted to advocate for those in conservatorships with really bad illnesses. I'd like to see her follow up on that This is actually one of my favourite looks from her.

It doesn’t seem acceptable in the Britney community to question anything she does. But the content she chooses to put out just seems meaningless cheap and raunchy. I used to think being a fan meant admiring someone but here it just seems like blind allegiance. Isn’t it ok to be a fan AND have expectations?

I always disliked that second photo. The boys had just refused to allow Britney to post their photo and then this one showed up. The guy in the middle posted it together with another photo of the Federlines' living room with the guys (not the boys) sitting around the coffee table with a COOKIES plate and w.e.e.d. COOKIES was Kevin's distribution company. Jayden was wearing a COOKIES shirt in an older photo with Britney and Preston. Teenager Jayden is smiling in that shirt. Total disrespect towards his mother to advertise w.e.e.d while his grandfather accused her of dr*g use. Let's hope, one day, the boys will be more mature and finally come to their senses.

I've seen multiple posts now about other women "ending" Britney's career. Britney's career never ended. She was the trailblazer after Madonna and Janet for all of these other women in music. Britney is still here.

There is so much other stuff she could be posting. She says she’s a “chef in the works” - it would be cute to see her cooking or baking. Her old workout videos used to be cute. When she used to paint, it was adorable. Now, all her content is the same. She keeps dancing while wearing low bottoms that she keeps lowering. It’s giving off trashy and D-list vibes (sorry but it’s true). It’s sad that she might think this is the best she can offer right now.

agreed. if they never appeared on TV I would have said leave them alone, but they decided to go public and be 'famous' so be it. also, one is 18 other is 17. Britney was 16 when she started and no one cared if she was a kid or not.

Britney, Your art has helped me my whole life get through high school and my disaster of a life. Even in my darkest times your music gave me the vigor, strength and hope that things could get better. I recently completed a 8 month substance and mental health treatment stay and it was difficult but reading your book and listening to your music I found the will to push forward. That’s a gift I could never repay. Nothing but love and respect ❤️

Im not surprised. Katy is an awful human being. Remember the story that was on here about her taking an old man's house and not caring if he's homeless? If you had a family member with mental illness would you just applaud their behavior? It’s ok to speak honestly about a situation without being cruel. I don’t think pretending something is ok makes it ok.

I agree with you. My intention isn’t to criticize, I just feel as people in the Britney community we aren’t doing her any favors by pretending her posts are anything to be applauded.
