Sade releases a new song as an apologize for her trans son

Titled "Young Lion," the song was made in honor of Izaak Theo Adu, the artist's son who is a trans man. The track is part of Transa, a compilation by the activist musical organization Red Hot, which also features collaborations with trans and non-binary artists, such as Hunter Schafer, Sam Smith, Clairo, among others. The institution defined this work as a "spiritual journey in eight chapters," with 46 songs and lasting more than three hours.

Despite keeping details of his personal life, Izaak briefly commented on his relationship with Sade in a post made on Instagram in 2019. "Thank you for staying by my side over the last 6 months, mom. Thank you for fighting with me to complete the man I am. Thank you for your encouragement when things are difficult, for the love you give me. The purest heart," he wrote (via Them).

It's worth remembering how Transa is scheduled for release on November 22, 2024. In an interview with Variety, Dust Reid, responsible for creating the album alongside trans artist and activist Massima Bell, explained how Red Hot wanted a project that "talks about all the gifts that trans artists have given the world."

"We hoped to create a narrative that positions trans and non-binary people as leaders in our society, while addressing the deep inner work they do to affirm who they are in our current climate. We feel this is something everyone should do," he said.

"Whether you identify as trans, non-binary, or otherwise, if you took the time to explore your gender, get in touch with your feeling side, perhaps we would have a future oriented around values of community, collaboration, caring, and healing."
