Strategies for boosting Crossroads

Recommended Posts

With the theatrical re-release of Crossroads, does anyone have ideas or a strategy for boosting the film’s relevance and legacy?

For example…

Earning Certified Fresh: The rating on Rotten Tomatoes presently sits at 15% Tomatometer (critics), and 40% Audience Score.

Social Media Trends: Could we start something on TikTok? Maybe an acting challenge with a specific scene from the movie, or sing-along videos from the theatre? (The bedroom singing Madonna scene, crying in the bathroom, car or bar singalong, etc)

Streaming Boost: I regularly check Amazon’s “Movers and Shakers” page, as well as Trending films/shows on VUDU. I’m not sure what platforms if any have Crossroads? If we could get it on the main page of something like Netflix, that that definitely spark some interest. Like a “watch/buy on ___ day” campaign? Possibly even just ratings or likes on streaming?

Open to all ideas and suggestions.

Crossroads deserves to be as big as Mean Girls. It’s a seriously slept on gem of a classic. I can’t believe it’s literally no where to be found tho. Like For The Record, it only exists on YouTube clips and old DVDs. What a shame.. I can’t wait to see it, can’t believe I didn’t go see it back in ‘02.. hopefully they have exclusive posters or something fun at theaters.

I agree! Crossroads is legendary. It should be on every streaming platform. I don't understand why it's been forgotten.

It’s a fun movie, nothing groundbreaking.  I never got the hate it received.  Her acting is actually pretty solid, esp the bathroom scene where she’s crying.  And she had good chemistry with literally all the other actors and actresses.  Sure it was kind of just a promo for the Britney album, but…it didn’t deserve to be panned the way it was.  Imo it was just because it was Britney and critics never wanted to take her serious.  I hope it’ll be playing near me, I’d love to go see it in theaters.

As a fan, the film is cute and the only reason I watched it as a teen was because of my love for Britney. As a stand alone film though let's be real, the movie is just not that good. I would say Glitter deserves justice before Crossroads does.

The movie's story line is pretty thin and there is hardly any character development. Some might say I'm just being critical but I can appreciate it for what it is without trying to hype it up for something it's simply not.

15% seems about right...

Agree,

It was never meant to be a serious Oscar worthy drama,

its a cute chick flick and its really fun to watch.

I think people just didn't want to give the movie a chance cause it had Britney starring in it.

She actually could act and was pretty believable to me in all the serious parts like when she's crying on the bathroom floor.

Honestly I think Britney did a better performance in Crossroads than Christina did in Burlesque and NO that is NOT me being biased,

I just think Britney had more charm and was more cute and likable as an actress than Christina.

Hopefully the screenings next month will be so successful,

that Paramount and her team will release it onto streaming services cause it deserves it.
