Britney definitely had a bigger cultural impact between '99 and 2004, and it wasn't as manufactured nor pushed like in the case of Taylor Swift. Also ya'll need to realise her gigantic fame is pretty much an American bubble. Over here in the UK and Europe, yes, she's popular and Anti-Hero did well, but not as big...

I agree with the hysteria and the hype around Michael Jackson and Madonna and let's not forget about the phenomenon The Beatles and the Spice Girls were.

Right now, Taylor Swift is still in that level of cultural impact after 17 years of career, unbeliavable :calculating_confused_meme_blonde_math_woman_thinking_what:

Yeah, it's kind of remarkable that Taylor has been around for so long and sold so many records yet hasn't had the same cultural impact even that the Spice Girls or Britney had in just two or three years. Taylor is immensely popular but she hasn't really revolutionised anything.

I love Britney, but Gosh some fans are totally ridiculous in their eagerness to put Britney above everyone else.
it's not all about DANCE you understand that!!!!!
Britney WAS a great dancer, but she was never a great irterpreter, generally her freestyle dancing never represented what the lyrics of the song were saying.
Sometimes it seemed like she wasn't really feeling the songs and was just doing some mechanic steps that made no sense at times.

Things are totally different now compared to back then. The demand is way higher, especially with us being in the post-COVID era where people are itching to get out more. Getting tickets is easier these days, and tours are getting hyped up on social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram what reaches an insane amount of people. Also, travel has definitely gotten easier and more doable over the last couple of decades, thanks to tech and better transportation. And just so you know, Britney's never really been a fan of touring – it's just not her thing. On the other hand, Taylor seems to have a strong focus on numbers and finances and she's really determined. Her team is top-notch, no doubt about that.

REALLY... :mhmsureny_hmm_thinking_ponder_unsure_what_Tiffany_pollard_ny_New_York_miss_ms_sure:

always excuses for not accepting reality.
wake up everyone!!!!!!!
God this forum has become so annoying, with so many immature and blind users.

I mean in music for get attention, sis. Not in personal life.

seriously!!!!!!
You lived under a rock ???
I love Britney and for that I know her plays very well.:tbh_britney_nod_yes_yas_ftr_for_the_record_vma_2008_circus:
She never did anything to get attention in her music?
ever since she started in the industry she's been doing it.

- posing provocatively as a 17 year old for Rolling Stone magazine.
- Saying she was a virgin when she clearly wasn't
- wearing a nipple-shaped padded bra to a children's awards show
-Getting nearly naked at the 2000 vma's
-Wearing a snake at the 2001 VMAs
-kissing Madonna at the 2003 vma's

Smart marketing moves created by his team that Briney accepted.

I feel like Taylor's fame is a current version of what Britney's was. If streaming and stuff was a thing back then, Britney would have had records no one would beat. Britney comes from s different era.

There's no use in comparing them, but I will say, downplaying Britney OR Taylor's success is stupid.

Britney never had nearly as much control of her career as Taylor has had. That's what it comes down to. Artistic and creative freedom.

We know Britney has a huge amount of untapped potential. Taylor on the other hand is tapping into it.

I guess it will be interesting to see if she will become a timeless artist like Britney or not.

And essentially what would happen if Britney got her fire back.

Perhaps, but I definitely feel like Taylor is more loved. You either loved or hated Britney.

True but then again Britney was more controversial and seen as a bad role model while Taylor has always had a safe good girl image.

(Btw just saw your reply in my notifications, thats why im replying now)

I'm so tired of seeing her pale, mean face...but I only see it on exhale. Unlike the 80s, it's very easy to block her from other forms of media if you don't like her.

Also don't get the Taylor appeal. Love some of her songs but she is not exceptional in any field. She doesn't have an amazing voice. She can't dance. She isn't an amazing songwriter. She isn't amazing at playing any instruments. She isn't stunning. She is pretty mediocre. I don't get it.

Let me solve the mystery for you; her father was a shareholder in her music label.

She did what prince and George Michael tried to do and failed..  but she won and forced the industry to make streaming platforms pay artists more..

Prince and George Michael were on a losing end,  unfortunately for Prince he looked insane to everybody.

George had no idea but cbs records signed wham! To an 8 album deal and since he was Wham!, guess who's honoring the 8 album deal as a solo act, he was.

He was pissed to learn that he was honoring a contract to a group that broke up in 1986 cos he was wham! As far as the industry was concerned..

Taylor gave artists now an immediate right to own their masters as New acts, a move never seen or heard before unless an act is indie artist.

She's the music industry as far as everybody is concerned She's the standard of being on top in an in industry and has never failed or have an album that failed..

And it's known 1989 TV will sell a million and be the first re recorded album to do so as everybody was waiting for this one.

You can't compare Taylor and Britney's careers, first of all because the industry never loved Britney, they always boycotted her, instead they gave Taylor a VMA for video of the year in her second album with a ****ty video and then they gave her the grammy for album of the year, nothing like that for Britney even though she had an unprecedented success with oops at that time. In that brit is more comparable to madonna, who was ignored for years and boycotted, but madonna was consistent and also changed and conceded her art to be valued. Brit never wanted to do that, and that's ok. It's super respectable.

As a Britney fan, please explain me how.

Britney never filled quite the stadiums Taylor does. Britney mostly played arena's and even when she did stadiums, she definitely did not draw as much attendees as Taylor does now + Britney never played 5 shows in 1 same location.

So looking at the numbers, which are facts, I would say you're wrong. Demand to Taylor's shows are bigger.

They're talking about touring here, Britney never experienced a tour like Taylor's ERA's tour....

Britney is my #1 favorite (Swift second) but the numbers are here and you can't get around numbers as much as you hate Swift. They are what they are...

You have to realise those days stadiums weren't constructed, many big acts did big tours on grounds and it's not like if Britney did stadiums back then it wouldn't have filled it would've it was not a common thing as today to do it.

Coldplay fill them, Travis fill them, Weeknd, BTS fill them literally all major acts can. Madonna biggest attendance which was 130k something was on the ground not a stadium.

Let's look at some numbers:

Top 20 Most Streamed Songs On Spotify: Year 2000.

1. Coldplay - Yellow - 1,7 Billion
2. Eminem - The Real Slim Shady - 1,4 Billion
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication - 1,1 Billion
4. Papa Roach - Last Resort - 969M
5. Eminem - Stan - 939M
6. Outkast - Ms. Jackson - 884M
7. Shaggy - It Wasn’t Me - 875M
8. Dr Dre - The Next Episode - 853M
9. 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite - 786M
10. Bon Jovi - It’s My Life - 722M
11. Taploader - Dancing In The Moonlight - 721M
12. Dr Dre - Forgot About Dre - 683M
13. Britney Spears - Oops I Did It Again - 650M
14. Disturbed - Down With The Sickness - 650M
15. Coldplay - Sparks - 640M
16. Linkin Park - One Step Closer - 526M
17. Daft Punk - One More Time - 524M
18. Weathus - Teenage Dirtbag - 496M
19. Incubus - Drive - 488M
20. U2 - Beautiful Day - 481M

Britney is the only female here who has a popular songs some rock and male pop giants, so it's also not like Britney wasn't competing.

Today an average ticket for good seats is 100$ earlier it was 20$ people couldn't afford those days but can and are doing today.

Let's not deny the fact that there was not a long ago time when Reputation tour had free tickets in the UK her popularity is much higher today but Britney was a big giant too during her hey days till the time she was interested.

Really hate posts like this, it’s your opinion, don’t have to bring looks into it either.

madonna didn’t have an amazing voice did she?

michael Jackson wasn’t what I’d call stunning either.

”saturation and demand” so you may not like her but demand means she is in demand lol. Imo she’s an amazing song writer, performer and seems like a genuine person. The eras tour is amazing. Album sales speak for themselves

She deserves all of the success. She is refreshing for a female artist. She not showing skin or engaging in controversy to sell her music. She is just pure talent.
