Ace of Base launched their 3rd studio album "Flowers" at the dome in Germany

Joker, Buddha and Jenny came back to the spotlight with minimal assistance from former lead singer Linn, to launch Flowers in Europe.

 

At the Dome, they performed a classic Hit from the bridge, Beautiful life, the biggest hit from that album. 

 

But the reception and more audience fav was for their latest Non North American and Latin American single.

 

"Life is a Flower", a us version would be issued as "Whenever you're near Me" as Clive deemed the original song to Swedish in nature for American audiences.  

 

Odd considering they're from Sweden but OK. 

 

Life is a flower actually was one of Europe's biggest hits on radio and returned the group to top ten or top five across Europe,  after the non Mainstream album, The Bridge failed to produce actual hits world-wide. 

 

The American version peaked at #78, that was due to the groups refusal to promote the track in protest..

 

Cruel Summer, the American album actually bombed due to the group refusing to promote the album,  despite The title track being a massive hit in the US going top ten and gold .

 

Despite going gold and top 20 in Canada and platinum in Japan, the US performance was dismal. 

 

People magazine said Cruel Summer sold roughly close to 200,000 world-wide while the European version was a far more successful album, selling 4 Million world-wide and Ace of Base actually promoting the album they preferred,  maybe Clive shouldn't have intervened it could have Been another platinum album for the group.
