I mean I get how for younger people she might me one. Her last hit was ages ago. I just think those articles should leave out the A-Z list thing and just call them singers/actors  or whatever they are.

Well they're right. She hasn't had a WW hit in ages. I think her last Top 10 in the UK was... Feels in 2017? And that was a song that already featured other artists and was mainly a hit because of Calvin's production.

On Mars maybe.  Ironically that song title summarizes Katy's current position in the music industry.

I assumed they hired her because she's with Orlando Bloom who's English so just assumed she was living nearby?

I mean they’re not wrong. She’s not a successful musician anymore. She hasn’t had consistent success in years. Her last top 10 single was in early 2017. She a working talent show judge and I think she’s being replaced on it now. Yes she has timeless hits from early in her career, but so does Cyndi Lauper. Katy didn’t shake up the industry to remain a constant A-lister like Madonna, Beyoncé or Britney.
