Could MGM Technically Sue Tristar and Jamie for the Domination cancellation?

    Recommended Posts

I know Lou and Jamie would often harass Britney into work by saying her management could sue her, and this was clearly the breaking point. Prior to them  forcibly and illegally pushing her into a “special program” a few days after she said she didn’t want to do the show, I always wondered if MGM could do this. Of course we know though, that Jamie and Lou make the ultimate decisions.

could Jamie and Tristar be sued due to the cancellation? Or was the contract immediately dissolved. If not, they would be held responsible right, and not Britney?

i think this is a really interesting question since technically jamie was "britney spears" throughout the conservatorship. any failure of a business contract would be on him as he was acting on behalf of britney. they lied to britney when they said her management could sue her, britney was legally a child and couldn't sign contracts. if anything, the management would have had to sue her conservator, jamie. i wonder if it changes now that britney is her own person again. if mgm wanted to sue that is.

The conservatorship was in every one of her contracts so I remember someone said there was a clause that prevented some ramifications for breaking a contract if it had something to do with the con. So she was forced into the facility to try and prevent being sued. MGM could sue for loss of revenue due to last-minute cancellation, they didn't have enough time to put together another show like that.

Yeah I came to say something similar…the con was used for insurance purposes. I don’t think they can sue because they knew the risk of booking a conservatee and I believe vegas didn’t even want to book Britney if the conservatorship wasn’t in place.

Ugh watching that clip I’m reminded how little team con respected the fans and inadvertently Britney…

this was live stream announcement was so unrehearsed Mario Lopez and kalen don’t even know when to speak and when not to. They had no idea what was going on the entire show. Poor kalen he was trying to keep his energy up and be all smiles and keep everyone excited but you can tell he was just as confused. He probably thought that would be his moment to meet Britney Spears…

also what is jeff Raymond saying to Britney as she walks down and signs autographs like what could he possibly be telling her over and over. What direction did she need?

    they would sue Britney unfortunately.

it was her name that singed it, and since she got her rights back, she would be responsible for the bad too. like a divorce or marriage ect. the court would need to find Jamie responsible first.

This is exactly what I was thinking

Great question, Rik! I’d say no. Team Con would be smart enough to ensure that the Conservatorship protected them in an event like so. It makes sense now why she was forced into the facility against her will and forced to make those videos.

There would be provisions in a contract that would likely say that they show could be canceled without penalty in the event of medical emergency.  Britney didn’t want to do it, was beginning to stand up for herself…so they needed a way to get out of it and punish her.  That would explain the random MRI’s - even though nothing was wrong, they needed evidence to prove they were trying to determine what was wrong with her before sending her to the facility.  Then obviously there’s the facility itself.  Both of these things were likely used as evidence to prevent any legal ramifications in regards to canceling Domination.
