HMC joins Britney's catalogue as one of her longest charting song, alongside Oops, Toxic, and Gimme More.

So after a long run of 20 weeks and peaking at number 6, Slay Me Closer finishes high with 20 weeks on the charts. With only reportedly working for 6 hours in the studio and no promo work (not even a proper Instagram post), she manage to have 185 millions streams on Spotify alone. For the record, she's doing very well compared to her peers, "Break My Soul" stayed for 18 weeks (although it did top the charts for 2 weeks) and Gaga's "Stupid Love" and "Rain on Me" charted for 10 weeks and 20 weeks respectively. Credit goes to Britney for hand picking the official mix to release. Of course we can't compare it to Britney as no dollar was spent for "new era", and every artist is different and equally awesome.

Record label obviously like these because they barely spent a dollar for photoshoots or hard $$ in marketing (Nicki, Beyonce, and others have their playlist in Spotify's Home Screen). Not to mention it stayed on top of iTunes sales charts for months for organic sales number. I hope this is a positive experience for Britney that she would want to work on music again. And it's amazing because HMC have great longevity and peaks, even compared to her Primeney era outdoing the likes of Slave 4 U, Every time, and Me against the music.

This is also great for Elton as his single with Charlie Puth and Stevie Wonder failed to chart in 2021, with the exception of Ed Sheeran Christmas song collab that peaked at #42 and stayed for only 6 weeks.

Congratulations Britney! And thank you to @TOUCHMEANGELfor always keeping us in the loop with HMC chart updates. We definitely need a distractions from all B-Anon crap we have here.

TC seems to chose to forget Elton John’s other recent (and more successful)  hit Cold Heart PNAU remix with Dua Lipa.

It would have been nice to talk about its performance and longevity just to give some context, especially because her peers Beyoncé and Gaga are brought up too.

I really like the song and even though it's peaked higher and has more weeks on the charts I somehow doubt it will be as memorable as Toxic or Gimme more in like a few years.

Compare it to Scream and Shout: another collab that was very low promotion, high in the charts, great deal of radioplay, GP loved it, but after a decade or so it's just not one of those iconic Britney songs.

Congrats to Britney, I'm just so happy everytime I hear new music from her, and I really liked HMC. It was a great return to the music scene and alonside Elton John who is a legend as well.

I hope we get another single this year.

I agree! HMC is not super iconic like Gimme More or Toxic, but it definitely have that feel-good feels about it and just so effortlessly Britney. It only shows just how good she is with her work.

Considering I don't really like it... most of them. She could release I will be there tomorrow and I would think it deserves to chart higher than HMC.  It's just not my taste.
