Is Toxic honestly a good song?

don't want to be accused of "derailing the thread" so to answer the question I'll just paste a comment I've made in the past: Toxic encapsulates everything that made Britney a pop phenomenon, innovative production, intelligent vocal delivery, an iconic music video, one of her best performances (abc special) & some of her best choreography to date, queen really said "I'm going to be the pop standard for the next generation".

I think this could've been a #1 if it was the 1st single off the ITZ album, video is iconic.

How dare the VMA's have this iconic video lose to Bey's Naughty Girl and No Doubts "It's my life".

It’s a great pop song but I wouldn’t say it’s my fav Britney song or it’s her best  in my opinion

i think everything the song means is what makes it the amazing masterpiece it is... it just works, at a mathematical level and at a spiritual level. the ***iness of the song, and the amazing video makes this song truly stand out. it even gave Britney her only grammy. the time of release... and many other things make it iconic; additional to it being pure perfection.

with that said i don't really like toxic... i don't really listen to it... never really did, and to add to it all; i feel like its been so overplayed. but it is definitely not overrated.

there are way more songs in her discography that are better than toxic in my book. but the world has spoken and its her biggest hit... i guess i just don't see it.

Oh wow oh wow, you nailed this review. Bravo. Indeed, “Toxic” is a pop masterpiece in every sense of the word. I can’t believe there are supposed Britney “fans” like the OP who feel brave behind their keyboard saying such barbaric things and who take the track for granted as if it didn’t set a standard for pop music at the time. For every clown post I read on here, I’m happy to know we at least have some logical fans left!

Sonically, “Toxic” is more complex and catchier but “Slave” is also amazing! Both are incredible pop masterpieces in their own right.

ok ban me if you have to, but i don't like slave at all - if it wasn't for the video and the ICONIC choreo i wouldn't care for it...

i get the appeal but i think its a bit overrated tbh... at least that's my opinion.
