I agree. I remember they started wearing them a lot after Beyonce Single Ladies MV success and Gaga's coming into the scene. But I don't think they look good on all of them. Britney always chose clothes that will help her move and  look cute, which I guess is why she always went for some pants, cute top and sneakers.  It wasn't until his dad took control that those kind of outfits got replaced for what was trendy at the time: leotards. With the leotards she has the problem of mobility and also exposing her private parts which happened a few times on tour.

I remember in the Circus tour, during the IS4U sequence she wore this idiotic metal leotard corset thing with spikes  that didn't let her move at all. Like who does that???? lol

Yeah, the first time I remember seeing the resurgence of leotards with with Madonna's Hung Up video, then they really caught on with Beyonce and Gaga. They're fine sometimes, but it's too bad how they seem to have totally taken over and kind of eliminated more creative costumes.

I have always loved Britney in pants! She always looks amazing and they are just generally the most flattering on her. Overall I really like the more casual or street style type of costumes like pants, it really brings a different energy to performances and dance. Hopefully we are due for these to come back again along with all the 00s trends haha.
