Do you think Britney prefers Marvel or DCU? Discuss

It’s not surprising, that Females made up only 30% percent of the DCU character list, and just over 20% percent of the Marvel roster.

For years, Women in comics have been either s.ex objects or weird fetishised versions of men’s ideal “broad”. Young, hot, slu.tty, with slinky costumes, S&M style weapons, and breasts to die for.

Additionally, the types of superpowers between male and female genders were vastly different. Women often lacked physical strength, and instead, used mind powers and often vaguely s.exual moves.

There have been some advancements and / or improvements in this regard, namely how women superheroes are portrayed (in newer comics and) by Hollywood, thanks in part to DCU’s progressiveness. Marvel doesn’t even come close, instead relying on tired tropes for both men and women.

Let’s take DC’s Wonder Woman as an example. Her physical powers are on par with Superman, her intelligence matches that of Batman. Her warrior status means she knows all manners of combat and strategy in battle. She’s a modern woman, independent, brave and fiercely self aware.

As for LGBT representation. DC wins again. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy find themselves at the center of a new relationship. And let’s not forget Superman’s son - who isn’t the only male queer addition to DC’s world - Batman’s bumchum (Tim Drake) aka Robin, dates another man.

It doesn’t stop there. DCU’s Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, is an out and proud lesbian, and she is one of the first queer heroes to have her own television show to boot.

Marvel’s Valkyrie is bi***ual and supposed to have a female love interest, but of course, Marvel chose to straight-wash and hide that. Just like they did with X-Men’s Mystique in the movie. Mystique is supposed to be queer. What happened?

With this knowledge, we can be sure Britney would choose DCU over Marvel.

Props for such a well considered and researched post

Movie production wise, Marvel wins. For some reason they simply do it better than DC (minus Wonder woman).

Comic and Universe wise, DC wins imo. Their Universe is simply better and has much more versatility, from God and Goddesses to mutants. There's so much to unlock and see it's crazy.

Plus, Wonder woman is my all time favorite super hero :bop_beyonce_dancing_yes_Yas_cheer_party_glasses:
