Why do you think Britney didn’t record a song with Michael Jackson in 2000/2001?

Like they are both pop royalty. Imagine a song together 

It would have been one of pop music’s greatest songs ever made  Also I’m not talking about their performance of The Way You Make Me Feel at his concert! I‘m talking like a brand new song and a single

I mean Michael Jackson didn’t do many collaborations and neither did Britney.

I really don’t think it would’ve been a great idea Britney would’ve just sounded like she was imitating him the whole time, which she often did did if you pay attention. (in the zone was a great example of this)

also it just wouldn’t have worked Britney would have to live up to the iconic scream video featuring Janet, and I just feel like it wouldve looked like a parody to his key fan base which my family was apart of so Ik lol.

also  a lot of people didn’t like Britney’s performance with Michael when she sang the way you make me feel

whenever they reair the special they never include the version with Britney (the show had 2 tapings, one with Britney and then one with a dancer instead) 

now personally I think it would’ve been amazing to see but I just don’t think from a Marketing tabloid obsessed early 2000s standpoint it would’ve been a smart idea 

funny how they both became victims of their success tho

Different labels?

I don't know.. As someone has already said, neither of them were doing lots of collaborations around that time and Britney probably had a very busy schedule at the time. 

The choreography for the music video could have been FIRE though.

There's a lot of songs that get recorded that never see the light of day.

It's possible something could be recorded and unfinished.

That was an era where leaks were very rare.

 

I'm not a fan of collabs in general though, so it's no loss to me.
