Britney's post earlier on really cements that her hair was always something that represented control to her, as it was so tied to her image and what others deemed her worth. Britney was always boxed into long blonde hair being her staple look...

...but when Britney had a point to prove, she was rarely that. When she was fighting in courts in 2007 and more recently, she had pink hair. When she wanted to make sure others knew her worth she died it brown (her "Comeback" tour, the second week of the Vegas Show, early free Britney days) and when she wanted to make sure the world knew she wasn't going to be boxed in, she shaved it. 

When Britney mentions how she had to wear wigs because she had treatments in her hair or that her family denied her hair vitamins, that all comes as opposing forces of control over her, but Britney has always held that power.

Britney cutting her hair to an extension less length is probably so relieving for her. She's gonna look incredible too!
