That would hint at the gaslighting. The "family" probably made them feel guilty over  any support for their mother and rewarded bashing her. 

Kids have an instinctual need to please authority figures, it is a survival mechanism hard to overcome until conscious inner work is done. 

Britney did not have the power position in that setup hence was not as important.

Just as the whistle blower said it was the culture in the con to devalue her and he was put down for liking her songs etc.

It is the bully gang mentality where it is cool to hate the target . Kids are conditioned
