I think the name Britney Spears is cool (a bit like Michael never dropped Jackson) but maybe because it’s been engrained in my mind for 2 thirds of my life.

I think her stage name being Britney Spears, it gave the family more power, they automatically became relevant and well-known people for having that last name... And it clearly went to their heads

Remember when some people where concerned that the reply address for Britney's wedding was asghariwedding@gmail? I'm not surprised that she may have changed her legal name to Ashgari after all her family has done to her. At this point she can use just "Britney" as her artist name like Madonna is Madonna, Beyonce is Beyonce etc.

Many do. Others hyphenate. Some couples even choose a new last name unrelated to either of theirs.

But tradition will always be for the woman to take the man's. That's just how it is.
