Big Brother UK officially returning after 4 years!

One of the UK's most iconic reality shows is back after 4 years and is moving to ITV2!

The Big Brother house has a brand new home, as the global television phenomenon makes its much anticipated return to UK television and moves onto ITV2 and ITVX from 2023.

A new cast of carefully selected housemates, from all walks of life, will take up residence in the world’s most famous reality TV home for up to six weeks, with cameras capturing their every move, and the nation following every twist and turn. 

The action will all play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given its own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show. Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life changing cash prize.  Produced by Initial (part of Banijay UK) Big Brother first launched on UK screens in 2000.  

Big Brother is commissioned for ITV2 and ITVX by Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ITVBe & CITV, and Peter Tierney, Commissioning Editor. Its return to UK screens marks the first major Banijay format commission for leading entertainment and format producers Natalka Znak and Claire O’Donohoe since joining the group earlier this year.

Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ITVBe and CITV said:

“This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience. We’re beyond excited to bring this iconic series to ITV2 and ITVX where it should especially engage with our younger viewers.” 

Natalka Znak, CEO of Initial, Remarkable Entertainment and Znak TV added:

“Big Brother is the original and best reality format and one that I have never made before so it’s a huge privilege to be making an all new version with ITV2 and ITVX. Working with Claire O'Donohoe and the talented team at Initial, Katy Manley and Cat Lynch. This is going to be epic!”

Apparently none of the original hosts are returning! The rumours going around are that it could be Mo Gilligan or someone else 'current'.

I have no hope for this revival - just the fact it's on ITV2 speaks volumes for what they're intending to do with it. No thank you.

It was an AMAZING decision to announce it during Love Island, I think ITV are hoping this reboot will be massive like Love Island.

Am I the only one who likes Rylan? He was so camp  I wouldn't want him as a main host though, but presenter of Big Brother's bit on the side.

Emma Willis is definitely not returning, she said a few months ago she wouldn’t. Probably as she knows she wouldn’t be first choice, even though I loved her as a host.
