So, the winner has been dethroned :shocked_what_xfactor_britney_pink_surprised_wow: Congratulations to the new winner, and here  you have a playlist with the Top 20:

* Also, ADHD should've been at #17, but since there's already two songs by Two Feet, it was pushed out of the top, thus So Good becomes #20 though it should've been #21.

This song gets retired this week:

  • Hold My Hand - Highest Position: #6 (Week 24)

Several songs have been eliminated, but here are new submissions:

Spoiler

For your consideration, these are the songs that if they don't make it to the Top 20 next week, will get eliminated :

Don't forget to suggest your new songs, we're now accepting songs/videos released in June or July.

Top 20 mechanics:

Spoiler
  • Vote on the poll (that gives 1 point)
  • Last week's Top 17 has an advantage: #1 song starts with 17 points, #17 starts with 1. (#18-#20 don't have an edge)
  • Songs that didn't make it to the Top don't have an edge regardless of which position they ended, which by the way you can tell by the order on the poll (excluding new songs)
  • Voting on the comments is the most important. You can now vote for up to 20 songs. Your #1 song will get 15 additional points, all the way down until your last song gets only 1 point. If you vote for 10 songs, your first song gets 10 points, etc.
  • The 20 most voted songs on the poll will get a booster in the way of a comment vote known as "Exhalers' Vote"
  • You can subtract a point to those songs already in the Top 20 by voting on the last question, and you can subtract an additional point by specifying in your comments.
  • Ties are broken by weekly YouTube views (yes, YT views)

Other rules and explanations:

  • Only two songs per artist will make the Top 20 at max, regardless of how many points the third or subsequent songs get in the end, so be wise with how many songs you nominate at the same time (i.e. when a new album comes out).
  • Songs in the Exhaler's Vote (the 20 songs with the most votes from the poll) get to stay an extra week in the competition even if they don't make the final Top 20.
  • You can suggest album tracks, but it's preferable to focus on singles. However, if an album track enters and eventually leaves the competition, but it's later released as a single or gets a music video, it can come back.
  • If you have any other ideas to improve or make this more interesting, don't hesitate to tell me any suggestions.

Thanks for participating, remember that every Top 20 will help to determine 2022's Top 100 at the end of the year.

check your musical taste rn y'all who vote like that. :tiffdrink_miss_ms_ny_new_york_drinking_sips_sipping_tea_straw:

feel free to add your suggestions, right now we're accepting any new songs or videoclips released in June and July  :imcute_britney_ftr_for_the_record_hat_paris_french_smile_grin_happy:

you can of course, also vote. Just comment a list of your Top 20 (from all the submissions) and your #1 song gets 20 points, the second 19, and so on until the last one gets 1 point. Or you can do a reduced list, 15 for example, but then your #1 song only gets 15 points and so depending on how many songs you add to your top.

Question @PokemonSpears. If ADHD cannot make the top 20 because of the other two songs will it get another week if it was meant to be in the top 20 or will it just retire? It shouldn’t be eliminated vs retired considering it would’ve retired in top 20 if it weren’t for the other songs. Hasn’t it been 8 weeks already?

this is its last week, every song has a limit of 8 weeks regardless of their performance, that's when they get retired. Unless they receive a video later on like La Reina d8q8uvb-fbc1e4f2-a690-4fcb-996e-e5940df4

Since ADHD technically didn't make the top this week, I should've subtracted a week, and thus it should've been eliminated. But since it actually made it in terms of points, that's why is here one more week.

If the same scenario happened this week again, and still the other two songs were above it, it would get retired despite being at 21. But if it doesn't make the top initally, it'll have to get eliminated :fakecry_christina_aguilera_xtina_crying_tears_wipe_sad: just like it happened to Maybe You're the Problem, This Love and other songs that didn't make the top in their last week.

That's why it's a tricky situation to support multiple songs by one artist simultaneously, it's what I call "The Message in a Bottle" effect

True but then I’m assuming songs that get retired will have a higher impact on the year-end lists so while it would make sense to not support multiple songs by the same artist why should we punish a song that is still a good song even after 8 weeks? Some songs that were eliminated in January are still super popular songs. I don’t like when a song stays on top forever, but if they’re going to be used to tally up charts at the end of the year then they should still be a fair assessment of their popularity throughout the year. Are you going to treat retired songs differently from eliminated songs at the end of the year?

:wontcry_tears_crying_sad: I've actually been thinking about that lately, because I need to figure out how am I gonna calculate that list so I start with time in advance.

First of all, as a disclaimer, I think I'll count until November so I have the month of December to show the results and everything. Or maybe I'll cut it in October, to do all of that in November and show the results in December, but we'll see.

But what I'm thinking is this, I'll start by making two main lists: Top 100 based on weekly positions (the higher each song charted, the most points they get), and another Top 100 based on actual voting points (I think songs from last year will have less points overall because we didn't give as many points as we do since a few months ago). I'm thinking they won't be that different from each other overall, in terms of which songs appear within the lists, but they will vary in the positions each song gets.

And maybe from all the songs that appear across the two lists, I'll open a poll where people can vote for them like we did last year, submitting each one's Top 100, but I'll also create an open poll on Exhale for those that only want to vote for specific songs. I think it can hold the 100 options if I distribute them across 5 questions, maybe even more if needed.  So this will be the ultimate top 100 that is revealed at the end of the year.

Now... I'm getting too ambitious here and I'm not exactly sure how to do this, but I'm thinking of also doing like some sort of "Exhale Awards" where there'll be several categories, so we can have the best female artist, or best female song, based on who got the top songs throughout the year, or the best band, or the best pop song, or the best song in English, best song in Spanish, best collaboration, etc but I'm kinda scared because I don't know how to handle that, or if there will be enough songs to group together in categories because I think we have a huge diversity of entries. Also, I would need help categorizing songs because I don't know what's considered pop, or urban or electronic anymore. I was even thinking about doing like, an award for the songs that performed the worst lol Or the songs that had like the biggest jump from one week to another, or the songs with the most weekly views, which is something I never reveal, and within this direction I was thinking of also doing like a separate poll that only includes the Retired songs, like, the award for best Retired song.

But again, I don't know how things are gonna look like in the end, and I'm not sure how to handle that, if we do the awards, like, a thread for each category, or putting all the categories in one big poll (I think you can put up to 20 different questions). People that don't follow this seem to get very overwhelmed when they see too much info lol I think I would need help for that one, but I'm still thinking about all the possibilities. :mhm_britney_nodding_yes_mhmm:

I think October would be a good cutoff for this year. Maybe cutoff Halloween since that’s what Spotify does when they calculate everyone’s Top 100 songs of the year
