Is this worth of buying?

This IS official release, however it was released through RCA Camden which is AFAIK a budget label. It's not good collection at all, no new songs and no new mixing and even the case is as bare it can get. Also it's not rare and will probably never be since it was budget release :eheeek_britney_unsure_ew_gross_um_awkward_embarrassed_cringe:

If you want something rare, try to find yourself The Singles Collection full box set from second hand shops, the cost goes from $300-500 nowadays but lucky ones can get it for under $100:oprah_well_there_you_have_it_proof_see_hand:

This Day in Pop: 'Britney Spears: The Singles Collection' is released in 2009 (November 10) - Britney Spears - BreatheHeavy | Exhale

I never got it.  its not an official release, i have the My Prerogative Greatest Hits from 2004 and the singles collections boxset from 2009 but even them i never use. Theres not really much point now in these greatest hits type albums now when music is so accessible online on streaming platforms like spotify

It's kind of silly how many greatest hits compilations they have for Britney.

They should have never released the first greatest hits... 5 years into her career. C'mon Larry. How greedy can you get? The new tracks should have been tacked on to B: In the Mix Vol. 1.

The Singles Collection I can excuse because we got some tracks re-mastered and some of the classic b-sides in better quality.

yeh i thought that even when it was released in 2004 that it felt way too early. it felt really weird considering she only had released 4 albums by then which to me didnt justify  a greatest hits album. But thinking back, she just finished her Onyx Hotel Tour and married KFed so her record label probably knew she was gunna get pregnant and take a couple of years off so was probably just a way to make more money before she took a break. if she didnt release a greatest hits in 2004, i would understand a greatest hits album in 2009 as that was her 10th anniversary of her debut album. But i remember, P!nk released a greatest hits album in 2010 and similarly to Britney actually, the last 4 years she was on tour constantly and she then got pregnant not long after the tour ended so she and her record label knew she was going to take a year break to have the baby , and she had 5 albums out by this point so one more than Britney did when she release GH:MP. and i remember her saying in an interview that she was absolutely against releasing a greatest hits and her record label started threatening to release one after her 4th album I'm Not Dead came out in 2006 and she managed to keep fighting them and persuading them not to because she felt it was way too early. she then released her 5th album Funhouse in 2008 and toured for that. Then it was her 10th anniversary in 2010 and she actually admitted in an interview when promoting the greatest hits she still didnt want to do one but her record label by that point said to her we're releasing one even without your permission or involvement which record labels can do. so when she realise she couldnt stop them anymore she reluctantly jumped on board with it and wrote some new songs for it and promoted it. so none of britneys compilations were no doubt her idea or decision, it was probably a case of its getting released whether you like it or not

I disagree - four studio albums and she had multiple singles at that point. She was taking a break and I think it was a perfect time to release a greatest hits.

I found The Singles Collection odd at the time because she had only released two more studio albums since Greatest Hits: My Prerogative but in retrospect I kinda understand it because 1. It was released to celebrate's Britney's 10th anniversary as a recording artist and 2. TSC was different in that the boxset/deluxe editions compiled all of Britney's singles released up until that point, whereas GH:MP (and also the standard edition of TSC) only really included Britney's 'greatest hits' i.e. her most popular/successful singles.

Oops I Did It Again: The Best Of Britney Spears, Playlist: The Very Best of Britney Spears and The Essential Britney Spears were all really random budget compilations which were released through the Sony Camden label which specialises in reissuing older material. Oops being the most random because it only included a few of Britney's singles and then a bunch of album tracks, mainly from her earlier albums.

But if they hadnt released GH:MP in 2004, the singles collection would've made sense as like you said it was her 10th anniversary and she had 6 albums out by then. But it was because they released GH:MP then she only released 2 more albums since then which made TSC seem too early and a wasted release. it wouldve been better if GH:MP wasnt released and they just waited til 2009 for her 10th anniversary then release TSC which would've made sense plus 6 albums warrants a greatest hits album more than 4 albums
