Fan sites are claiming that Lady Gaga’s debut sold more than Baby One More Time

Recently, I’ve seen many Lady Gaga fan pages on YouTube and Instagram claiming that because The Fame Monster is an EP and a continuation of The Fame that the combined figures count as the sales of her debut album. We’ve all known Britney’s debut is the highest selling amongst her contemporaries and no other female has come close to those numbers with their debut. It’s pretty laughable that these stans will do the most to inflate their faves’ numbers

Do you think Lady Gaga’s sales for TF and TFM should be combined or are they two separate albums? I’ve always considered them separate albums and the whole idea of an EP is incredibly cheap and tacky.

then they should combine Christina Aguilera's sales with Mi Reflejo too, since even though I suppose her actual first album was also released in Latin America, Mi Reflejo was basically considered her debut, since it included the same singles like Genie in a Bottle, Come On Over, etc, just in Spanish

My Google search shows total worldwide sales of 18 million for the two albums 🤔 Where are they getting this number?

And furthermore BOMT from my quick search says 25 million so I’m not sure this chart is exactly accurate lol. I’m not saying the numbers I’ve found are also 100% correct, but the fact that both are off seems suspicious!

Lmao the “EP” is practically an entire album.  I always considered it a full album, what was it 8 songs? 
but yeah not a single song from TF appears on TFM, two completely separate pieces of work…you don’t just combine sales of two different pieces of work

This would actually make sense and I would argue the same for Lady Gaga if she rereleased The Fame in another language

I hate these stan wars, but when we know Britney sold that much off one album I get irritated seeing these things. We all know many people don't do their research so while some people may shrug it off as "who cares?" many of the people liking these posts will begin to believe these lies

Exactly. If it had been a deluxe version released as The Fame Deluxe then it would've made sense

If she did it's mostly from streaming figures. Several of the songs on the album are billion streamers on both Spotify and YouTube. It's hard to see legit statistics though
