Britney's 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman' - thoughts?

It’s one of the best song that captures the hopes and anxieties of growing up, in my opinion. A great song that is relatable when you’re going through major changes in life!

Funny story; I (in true gay fashion) convinced my friend at a Catholic retreat I attended in college to play both this song and Lucky as two reflection songs the entire retreat had to pray/talk about!  Basically, Lucky played before she told her story of a time she struggled with something, and I’m Not a Girl played after she told the story. And the entire retreat had to write in journals or pray or reflect or whatever during these songs.

Can we say impact?

Songwise, I like her other ballads more, this feels more basic.

It's kinda amazing though that it was a billboard "flop" in the US, but its iconic enough that it's still being referenced to.

Yes, he usually is like that.But not this time. Nevertheless, there were problems. Brit lost her bet and did not want to redeem the bet, I think she should draw sth. After that, he never invited her again.

Does anybody remember a video of her in crossroads (singing not a girl or Overprotected) - it was kind of like extra footage that never made the final movie, and if i remember well was a video on an enhanced CD of Not a Girl.. where she starts crying in the middle of the song.. ?

I don’t like it because her team forced her to be “not a girl not yet a woman” for 13 additional years. I can’t disconnect the song from the abuse she suffered for some reason.

This song was such a waste of a single. I get why they did due to crossroads but she had some bops on that album and this was not one of them. Justice for “what’s it’s like to be me”

I think the song has a great message but wasn't taken seriously due to it being sung by Britney.

The back-up singers always annoyed me! Britney should have channeled some "Beyoncé going off on Michelle"-energy and told them to stop stealing her spotlight!

We got some good performances of it, but this should’ve been on the separate crossroads soundtrack that was planned. It doesn’t fit the vibe of the rest of the album and was just too corny.
