Actually, this is quite the common scam. Mainly done by politicians, but it can be done by anybody.

Use dirty funds/campaign funds to mass buy a bunch of books. The "writer" will recieve the sales money, and then donate the books to a library/charity.

It doesn't have much competition because it's January and most book lovers already have bought/received books for Christmas.

Also, most avid book lovers don't really go on Amazon but rather Barnes and Noble or local bookstores.

Also a lot of people are broke, so there are probs pre-sales.
