Musical director of the Circus Tour says Britney did not want to perform the hits and only wanted to perform b-sides and rare songs

The Musical Director of the Circus Tour and the FF Tour, Simon Ellis took part in a podcast and briefly discussed Britney. 

He did not want to discuss anything too personal about her.

Larry told him Britney did not want to perform any of her hits on the Circus tour, she just wanted to perform b-sides and other rare songs. 

Larry said to remix everything and freshen everything up to make things fresh for Britney.  Simon said when she heard the remixes she wanted to perform the hits again.

Simon says she is an extremely underrated singer and is an incredible incredible incredible pop vocalist and nails every vocal in her style.  He said her cover of You Oughta know was amazing and it was her idea to perform it.

They only had one sound check for You Oughta Know before they performed it.

Simon said when you speak to her one on one she is just like the girl next door and so down to earth and just wants to talk about everyday things and have a laugh and smile.

Simon said the only times she’d seem down would be when the security guys would open the door and she has to put on the ‘Britney face’ again.

Ugh this further proves how she knows what we want as I rather have a tour of just b sides! They obviously are trying to appeal to the general audience who only knows her hits. Even I’m sick of the hits unless it’s remixed. Ugh soooo can’t wait till she gains control of everything and literally gets to call the shots as these dinosaurs don’t know anything.

I was there in Greensboro for the debut of YOK.  Got there early (there was a contest)…and sitting outside the arena I hear her sound checking YOK.  And I was like “we are either in for something amazing or she’s just messing around in there.”  But it sounded really good and even though it was muffled because we were outside it was easier to hear her vocal.

I was at the Gboro show too!! The energy was through the roof that night!

Casual fans don’t want unknown songs being performed. I understand her frustration but it’s unfortunately just how it is. Same with Vegas..tourists want to hear the songs they know. I wish someone would’ve pushed for her to re-record the hits to add something new, instead of the same old 20 year old album vocals.

I went to the Manchester UK show and can say it was by far the best concert I have ever been to. The energy from the performers, music, visuals and the crowd was truly mind blowing. I was so jealous when she headed back to the US with revamped mixes, live video on the round screen and iconic moments like YOU OUGHTA KNOW which I’ve watched on YT a bazillion times.

Circus tour have best remixes! It's been a while from that tour is a MASTERPIECE!!!

I see how she wouldn't want to preform hits, she was sick of them. If you think about it, artists records hundreds songs, yet they preform same songs all the time.

Most be so boring and annoying to sing the same songs all the time even if it's remixed for a tour! Nobody want to discuss about how Baby, Oops, Stronger etc... Are legendary but seriously we heard them too much. At least as a fan, I could skip some of them, Britney in other hand had to sing them every nights since yeeeeeeeeeeeears! She couldn't even have a word on the song SHE had to sing, gosh! But she did the job! In the futur I hope she will do shorter concerts but more qualitative in terms of choreographies and songs choices, more personal but still fun. I like the b-side idea! Phonography needs to be performed one day!

The Circus Tour has the best set list of all time. Perfect mix of classics, new songs, non-singles. Femme Fatale came a little close to that, but I’d say DWAD and Onyx came closer.
