Rap/hip-hop is truly an American acquired taste. I live overseas so I not only dont like it, I dont care about it or understand it.

To be fair you can’t tell me other countries don’t have their version of rap.
To say it’s more an American thing during the super bowl which is an “American” tradition is just one sided.

but I respect your outlook on it.

I respect your opinion. However I disagree that hip hop is an American acquired taste.
It’s one of the most popular genres everywhere in the world.

Most of Europe loves and listens to hip hop. Heck the Uk has their own sub genre of hip hop - UK trap. Latin countries are literally known for their hip hop roots and genres.

So it’s great that you are not a fan, but to say it’s a cultural/geographical situation is not true. Most countries have their own versions of it. I know a lot of Eastern European rappers.

As a Latin American myself I can tell you the above isn't accurate. Hip-hop is a 100% cultural/geographical situation as it was born in the USA in the 70's. https://www.kennedy-center.org/education/resources-for-educators/classroom-resources/media-and-interactives/media/hip-hop/hip-hop-a-culture-of-vision-and-voice/#:~:text=The elements of Hip Hop,poorer parts of urban America.

Any other country that has it's own version outside the US is simply a result of the global Americanisation (basically people enamoured with American culture so bad they create one of their own to feel like they are part of it). I'm not saying it's a bad music genre simply that doesn't have the same entertainment appeal as a pop show and its definitely not as big outside of the US like you think it is.

Think of Broadway. When you go to a show you think a big production, but if you were to pay Broadway tickets for a stand-up comedy show you probably would think it twice.

I get that people are super excited about this Superbowl as it has 100% banked on nostalgia and I definitely have loved most of these tunes back in the day. But when you remove the nostalgia element out of it all you get is middle aged people flapping their arms lip-synching to old songs.

Once you come off the high of the nostalgia, watch this objectively and you may see I actually have a point. Or don't - I dont care LOL. I just trying to explain myself. :)
