Why Was Scream and Shout so Successful?

Forgetting that will.i.am stole "Its Britney *****" line for his own self promo, how did the song become so successful? We love Britney and any success is welcomed with open arms... but how?

I never listen to the song and am still confused as why it had  the level of success it did....

 

I feel like it prob did really well in clubs and that's what helped propel it

It had a different vibe compared to what was out at the time yet was still radio friendly. It was generic enough for the general public to eat it up but had something to it that saved it from just being radio filler so it appealed to a wide range of people.

It was a fun bop. It was also quite original at the time since it wasn't the usual Dr. Luke or Max Martin production that we'd grown accustomed to. I wish Brit and Will.i.am would collab on something great again.

Today I appreciate it specially because of the MV, but definitely is not one of my favorites

I hate this song and I dont know why people like it. It fit in with the edm craze but it’s just not a good song. She looked good in both videos but that’s it.

-It came out in 2013, when EDM was very popular in both underground and pop music. Electro house and big room music was especially popular so it fit well on the radio and streaming services. 

-It was during Will.I.AMs solo peak era. While the album was pretty much flop, all of the singles did relatively well

-It was also after the hugely popular Femme Fatale era so there was still a lot of hype around Britney. Oh yeah and don't forget that it was also premiered at The X Factor which Britney was part of so that also gave some popularity boost to it

Definitely the Britney b line... and just a theory but I think that’s why Britney worked with will.I.am, her team wanted to replicate that success... maybe she didn’t want to primarily work with him. Idk just my theory
