This! I was actually thinking this to myself the other day, often times certain names sound so iconic to us... because there is a mega star and their 'energy' or aura and years of us hearing that name in positive light and hence why the names feel so iconic, although I do agree Britney Spears is a really good name, tbh it's mostly the Spears... Jamie contributing with something useful for once

 

I do think she would have still been famous (to answer your question @Kletus) and those names you mentioned would sound much ‘better’ if they had all of Britney's aura attached to them. I also do agree a great name can help make someone more iconic but it's not black or white as in certain names can't become iconic, we see artists with all kinds of names having success. I do wonder what combination for a perfect stage name is... seems like a slightly popular first name paired with a strong second name really does the trick.

I would say the same with Marilyn Monroe, they are perfect you know? They stand out, make sense, and are cute in a way 

 

For example, Christina Aguilera is a cool name but never sounded so simple yet so effective like Britney's🤷🏼‍♂️

I love Marilyn and yeah she does have a great (stage) name, Norma Jean isn't bad but Marilyn Monroe is really in your face. And same with Spears... I feel like Monroe is what really gives it that punch. Again, let's remember it wouldn't sound so iconic if the most iconic actress of all times wasn't named Marilyn Monroe lol.
