First of all, it's important to point out what an amazing lyricist Britney is.

Second, I've never realized before the ultimate shade Britney throws at her father in this song. She exposes how he manipulated and mistreated her mother in this sample of All That She Wants. She used the chorus and hooks, but wrote everything else. 

In this lyrics she managed to shade Justin, Kfed (possibly), her father  and men in general

Oh god I wish Britney could spill the real tea about those two. She should write a book like Jessica Simpson did.

That poem was actually about generational abuse. Britney realized that, as she grew up in that kind of environment ("silly pattern that I followed"), she was started to get into that same kind of environment for herself as an adult. So that's why she "got to run away".

 

So, it kinda bothers me people saying she stayed okay with her dad for so long. She didn't. She has always had it clear, at least since 2001. She tried to run away, he and her mom trapped her and when you're on the losing team it's tiring to fight all the time...

How did she try to run away in 2001? Also many of her 2004-2007 letters she talks really well about her mother, thanking her and everything. Especially the early ones. She was clearly not having it with her team and label though.

2006-2007. She clearly stated she was estranged from her family, including Lynne. Even reading Lynne's book you can notice they were estranged in 2006

 

2001 was the first time she said something about her family situation, so since then we know her family dynamics is odd
